This is only third or fourth hand information. However, the grandmother needed assistance after passing through security, and he skedaddled while she was being helped. Teen agers can be like that.

This was not just "a teenager" this was a teenager who is Autistic.... BIG difference, I have "both species"....

It is not a behavior attributable solely to autistic individuals. Have you never heard of others teens taking off to do what they want after disagreements. For.that matter some adults do.​@@silviaeaston

I heard that he was autistic. My son has autism and I could not begin to imagine what the grandma was feeling. Thank goodness for a happy ending👍

I also have a son with Autism, and would NEVER strap anyone to take of his needs. That grandmother didn't know what "she was in for"....

He looks older than 14 years old, and the medallion doesn't have an age on it from what I noticed. However, the guardian should share some responsibility, not just the cruise line!

@@genesnyder2985 Far as a drink, he would need to be linked to a credit card account, which, being a minor, only a parent or guardian would ok that. He couldn't buy anything on the ship without their permission...which again I would think a parent or guardian would not give an open used of a account for a 14 yr old 🤔The getting off and on the ship just tells who's in the cabin with you.

TRUST ME.... the screen where the medalion is swiped has ALL information, and I'm sure a RED glow comes over it when someone is not "of age". Coincidentally, I'm a 76yo grandma with a 15yo Simon, in the very same ship this took place: Caribbean Princess, and they did not let my grandson off without supervision.

Surely a cruise ship is just a floating hotel? When I've stayed in hotels with my family I expect my teens kids to be able to leave on their own to explore the nearby area without the hotel staff challenging them.

I'm a 76yo grandma who coincidentally was cruising this very ship that week AND I had a 15yo grandson Simon, and they gave me quite a stand on not letting Simon leave the ship without an adult. Simon belongs to his HS running club and wanted to run the different ports.

At the age of 14 I believe you're old enough to know right from wrong. So this kid made a decision on his own to take off. We all know some kids these days. Don't listen to their parents and do what they want. Security might just Thought this kid was with somebody leaving the ship.
