Wittney R I approached a man in distress in a dark parking lot this summer and he was so shocked by it he didn’t speak at first. I had been sitting on the curb in the far corner of a parking lot smoking while my husband was inside paying for gas and the man pulled in with his muffler scraping against the ground and towing a boat. I knew we had metal zip ties in my truck so I walked over and grabbed one. When I walked up to him he was under the car so I crouched down and offered it to him. He was so shocked that I was there so quickly with exactly what he needed that at first he just stared at me with his mouth open but quickly thanked me profusely. I’m sure he thought I was a guardian angel the way he looked at me. I’m sure it wasn’t the smartest thing to do but I saw a person in need and I had the perfect solution so I couldn’t resist. Him being under the car seemed like a safe enough opportunity to approach him. But I could tell he didn’t want my help at first.

That was my reaction, too. While the people were well-intentioned, it was the worst thing they could have done to expose her like that. She learned immediately that she had to smile and hide her pain, which is one of the reasons she turned to drugs and alcohol to deal with her pain.

I owned a a western Store and a female customer came in and I immediately knew I had to get her out of my store. I had several other customers. She shopped and spent $800.00. She had lots of ID. Turns out it was all stolen as well as her . car.About a month later I had a colt being operated on and was just killing time when I visited another Western Store. There she was pulling a scam on them. I got the owners attention and he called the law. She had a 357 magnum in her purse. Rifle in the car, drugs, money, drug scales and jewelry. $300. a day drug habit. I got some of my money back. Her brother had put his house up for bond on an armed robbery charge and was about to lose it but didn't as she was brought to justice. Never ignore your gut instinct.

This just made me open my eyes that I should be grateful to a complete stranger. In yr 8 ( england school ) I was walking to my friends house to walk to school with her. This guy asked what time it was but he whispered it so I couldn't hear. So me being the innocent 13 yr old I was kept getting closer to try and hear what he was asking me really quietly. This other man could obviously see what was going and realised something was off so he ran up and told him the time coz he could hear from were he was standing. Looking back now if it wasnt for that other man I probably wouldnt have made it 3 more doors up to my friends house. Thankyou to that man!

Running saved my life. I was close to being kidnapped myself. I went to the same school as her, and lived around the corner from her house. Luckily, I was walking home from school with my Grandma. She was not too far behind me, so as soon as he tried to talk to me, my whole being told me to RUN. I ran back to my Grandma as fast as I could and told her right away. My Mom and I went to report it to the school and we filed a police report. Then shortly after, she was kidnapped. I'm happy that she's doing better and that she's helping those who went through what she did. ❤ R.I.P. to the ones who didn't make it. 🙏

When I was 5 years old I was riding my bike on the street where I lived. It was a semi busy road and I was at a corner where it intersected a cul-de-sac. A man in a big brown van pulled up to the side of the road and leaned over a bit, rolling down his passenger window. "Hey little girl, do you know if this is Union Ave?" He asked, glancing from side to side. "Yes" I said "you're on Union Ave" "What?" the man replied, " I didn't hear you can you come a little closer?" I took two steps closer and he asked again. I could see him sliding across towards the door, his hand outstretched for the handle. I pointed to the street sign which was clearly just a few feet from where his truck was, it was clearly in his view . After the second time he asked me to come closer I got on my bike and peddled as fast as I could home, he sped away, tires screeching as he pulled off. That man was going to abduct me. My mother always told me no matter what someone says, even if they tell you, your mother is in the hospital and she's dying; she sent me to get you; you have to come with me right now... do not believe them! Never under any circumstances go with a stranger. If my mom hadn't taught me that, I might not be here today. Now that I have a daughter myself, I know to tell her the same thing. For years I would ride my bike past those tire marks in the street and a chill would run up my spine.

Stay safe, please! I (a female) always wanted to get a 2nd job delivering pizzas or something like that. I never had enough nerve cuz I knew I'd have to go to someone's front door. Who knows who and what and how many are inside? Once that doors opens, it's very easy to just pull you in, then you're stuck and at their mercy. Maybe you should call someone at each delivery stop, let them know you're going up to the door, let them know you got back to the car. It would probably get old after a while. The person might fall asleep and not answer, then not know til it's too late that anything happened. Nothing is foolproof. I thought about taking my dog (pit bull/rottweiler), but they could pull me in quick and leave my dog on the porch, poison/kill my dog. I wish it could be safer. I hope you are safe. I just realized you're a male after I wrote this. Now I feel stupid, but you still need to be careful. You're carrying money, and people know that. Be safe.

Not considering her mental/emotional state when continuing with plans for (large) birthday party, as if nothing happened - even continued cheerfully singing while she was crying! 4.) Apparently never got her the counseling she obviously needed, as a child or teen.

​@@matthewguy1155 i was allowed to walk home by myself since first grade (i was 5). my house was only a few blocks away and there were crossing guards at every corner. it really depends on the neighborhood. my school also had a form parents had to fill out if they were going to let their kid walk by themselves to keep track of us and if you lived a certain distance away, it would not be allowed. if that child that lived too far was caught walking by themselves, the parents would get in big trouble. those of us allowed had to go to a stranger danger class during recess for an entire week before we were allowed to leave by ourselves (i am not kidding, they were super serious).

I started to walk home alone at 9 in a half, I’m 14 now. My elementary school was 2 blocks from my house and my mom would watch me through the window until she knew I was at school. Then she stopped watching because I was getting older. Then I graduated and started middle school. I remember I was a bit scared to go to school by myself the first day but eventually it was easy and I wasn’t worried thinking what if I was lost. I think parents should start to let them walk alone but also keep an eye out yk? I mean anything could have happened to me while crossing the streets going to school, luckily my mom was still able to see me but from a distance. It’s good she would let me become independent but also make sure I was safe.

Oh my goodness , by the thumbnail I thought she was kidnapped UNTIL she was 24. Thank goodness she escaped quickly. The PTSD that kidnapping caused her, as well as the insensitivity of kids at her school, really infuriated me. I’m glad she was able to recover from these harrowing experiences, and is now living her life well for the sake of her daughter.

After seeing this video I noticed a pattern of children being alone as they head home or leave home. Anyone who sees this video of "traumatic" experiences that happened to these children, would rethink that the aprox 20 min from a school bus pickup or drop off, parents or a relative should just stay with their youngsters, or teenagers. Predators come in the most unlikly and unexpected way. That's why they are called that, and it includes teens. Just take care of your precious gift...your child.

I refused to let my kids walk to school when they were little. When my son took the school bus, i walked him to the bus stop and picked him up from there every day. Something happening to one of my kids has always been my worst fear. I was almost killed twice by the time i was 8 (living in an abusive household) so i think because of that, i always fear the worst and try so hard to protect my kids from everything. My youngest is 15 and i barely let him start walking to school by himself this year. I still worry so much though because a friend from high school's son was hit by a car crossing the street and died last year. He was 16. I know around a school it's probably even more likely to happen because there is a higher number of inexperienced teen drivers there. Then there is always the possibility of a school shooting. I just pray that God protects my kids always.

Wheni was 12 I babysat for a family down the street but not within sight of my house. My parents let me walk to their house, but the kids dad always insisted driving me home after babysitting even though it was literally on the same street. I remember thinking it is dumb they think I need to be driven home. But now I think if I was in their place I'd do the same thing. I wouldn't want a babysitter to like vanish after leaving my house you know. And the house was on the same street but not within sight so if anything happened on the walk home no one would have seen me
