Having children around at ANY age enhances your life. That’s why unhealthy people should never have kids. And also they should go to therapy. Sad, we live in a world where anyone can have a kid. And most people are not prepared. The kid ends up suffering and their lives get ruined. I have a 1 year old, gosh, she is so smart. I bet all 1 year olds have this amazing potential of being awesome. Humans are naturally smart. But, all that potential gets wasted when they have bad parents. Also, people forget, “good” people can be bad parents as well. And that to be a good parent you don’t have to be perfect. If only people who deserved kids would have kids this world would be completely fixed and so quickly. Sad but true :( I always wanted to do social work but I just couldn’t even imagine having to witness this type of stuff, makes me so mad. People who are not good parents. And thankfully that kid had someone willing to do all of that for his safety. I would do it too.

Joyce Jackson Seriously sometimes that's just how it happens. My father hasn't spoken to his father since he was 16 years old. It's been over 20 years and still not a word. Families sometimes just aren't family. It is what it is.
@SumthinMstBAvailable9 жыл бұрын
Like the first response. It's possible. The grand parents may have never reached out to the parents when he disappeared. Or showed no interest etc. Would have caused a further drift between the families. I don't speak to my father and nor has it ever cross my mind to ever speak to him in a time of crisis.

@autumnbraley74024 жыл бұрын
In my opinion this needs to happen more often. I have worked with children for 20 years now and the sad reality is biological parents are given chance after chance to become good parents but more often than not they just ruin their kids childhood if not worse. Too many times children have lost their lives because the courts gave them back to unfit parents. I'd rather be tried for kidnapping than feel like I stood by and let my grandchild be hurt because the laws had failed to protect them from an unfit home.
@cyndigooch11622 жыл бұрын
Autumn Braley I totally agree with you because I experienced a horrendous childhood with my extremely troubled parents, due to their own unhealed childhood wounds. I had a younger sister and brother and we were placed in foster homes, or stayed with relatives for periods of time, but wish I could've stayed at one of the other places permanently! I ended up becoming pregnant when I was 16 years old and did my best to look after my precious daughter, until things went horribly wrong, which led to relinquishing her when she was about 13 months old. I attempted to get her back not long after she went to her new supposedly safe family, due to the devastation of the loss. It didn't work out though. I mainly wanted to mention that the adoption hasn't been viewed favourably by most people, including my daughter, who is 44 years old now. In fact, she absolutely despises me and has been abusing me, including death threats, on and off for many years. Luckily, I live in another country because she might've assaulted me, or much worse, by now. She stopped contact with me about eight months ago and it hasn't been easy at all, yet it's for the best. Hopefully, she'll be able to do the healing work on her trauma issues sooner rather than later. Another point is that family members and others have judged me harshly as well and say that they don't understand why it happened, even though they don't even know the full story. Unfortunately, the adoptive family wasn't very healthy either, hence why my daughter has suffered a double whammy, so to speak. I know that many adopted people do have huge resentments towards the parents, due to their abandonment issues, which is understandable and there's no guarantees anyway. 😥

Well done to the grandparents for taking this young man to safety. His parents were clearly not capable of caring for him properly, and the state was clearly incompetent. The grandparents might have "technically" broken the law, but they made the right moral choices here and shouldn't be punished for this. I hope he and his parents have the maturity to understand.
@tradne852 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, they did break the law. However, they likely did so because they perceived that following the law would actually harm the child and thus defeat the purpose the law. To put it another way, they followed what is supposed to be the spirit behind the law.

As someone who was raised by my grandparents I'm SO thankful they did. My mother had severe mental illness and addictions, my dad wasn't even around. I can't imagine how I would have turned out had my grandparents not intervened, got social services involved and fought hard in court to have full custody of me. They spend thousands of dollars everytime my mother would haul them into court to attempt to gain custody of me and they literally gave up their retirement by sacrificing their time to raise me properly. They gave me well over what I needed. Whether in this situation the grandparents were wrong or right from abducting this child against his parents will, I can say from experience he definitely was given a better opportunity then what his parents could have. In fact, more parents should lose their rights to raising their child since for the most part, it continues to throw children who turn into adults into society with addictions, trauma, poor coping skills, poor financial habits and more.

"They wanted him to grow up where he wouldn't be without anything!" Well he grew up without his parents. It would have been nice to know what the grandparents told the kid why his parents were not there. I believe they should be charged with kidnapping the same as anyone else would be. Do you let a stranger off the charge if they could show the child was better off...no you wouldn't. Proper channels, which i know suck but so does your child disappearing without trace.
@moesydocious9 жыл бұрын
Yes, I can blame them. They did something wrong and illegal, and they had no right to decide they were better than his parents. People have a right to their children, and kids have the right to at least see and be in their parents lives.
@symrob13069 жыл бұрын
moesydocious Is illegal meant immoral ? Not always. It's illegal to enter in someone's house breaking the door, but if you do it to save someone inside ? It's illegal to take someone's child but if you see the parent beating the child very badly will you think :"I can't take this child from his parent but will call the police even if i know that will be too late when the cops will be there" «People have a right to their children» Correction : «People have limited right to their children» «kids have the right to at least see and be in their parents lives.» ... and the right to live in a secure place and live a normal life.
