Missing In The Mojave

In this video, I hope to give to you an introduction to the mysterious disappearance of Ms. Cara Caudill Cox. Cara recently disappeared somewhere along this remote stretch of Interstate 40, deep in the dangerous and unforgiving Mojave desert of California.
I was recently contacted by one of her family members and asked if I had ever explored or photographed the interior of a particularly dangerous and deep mine shaft located near where Cara may have been last seen. The family was concerned Cara may have fallen into the shaft but they were unable to convince any law enforcement agency to actually look into the depths of the mine. This weighed heavily on the family. After all, it is not knowing the fate of a loved one that most burdens the heart.
Unfortunately, although I had posted a picture of the vertical mine shaft opening only a few months before on my social media sites, I did not in fact attempt to see what may lie in the bottom as it is a very tricky and obviously, extremely dangerous opening. I promised to return to the mine shaft in October and attempt to photograph or take a video of what may lie in the bottom. I also decided to search other nearby mineshafts and scour the local desert for clues to her disappearance. Her phone last pinged on a nearby cell tower and it's quite possible it may still be out there somewhere, if even in pieces.

Most, if not all commercial tractor trailers are equipped with GPS now, not to mention the cell phones are constantly pinging the cell towers. Seems like a subpoena to the company he was driving for would tell all and save a lot of time.

Chigg....I am a truck driver. I am through that area a lot. I don't believe that the driver would have hurt or killed her at the rest area. It is always busy there. Nor could he dump her body there. We are limited to routes and highways. If she had been killed by him on I-40. He would have had to physically carry her to dispose of her body. It would have to been at night. Most likely an off ramp. Kell/baker and another ramp east of that. Have been a closed road. It's been closed for a while. Search near these areas. West n East. Gulf rd as well. They have a dive truck stop there. Check in there for anyone who has seen the woman. If she is dead....I'm not saying she is. Her bf would not have been able to dig a grave. The terrain is poor for any deep digs. He would have dumped her in a ditch or a covered her in a very shallow grave. You have the technology to search from up high. Be safe dear.

Thanks for the tips. I do believe that I must widen my search area but without any info being shared with me about truck or phone GPS logs it's disheartening. I focused on the mine because the family was tormented with the fact that no one would look in the bottom of it, so I worked on that (and surrounding area) to help alleviate that worry for the family.

You would have to be very fit to go hiking with a body any distance. An truck drivers are not very fit. I hope you find her. I will keep you in my prayers.

Mustard for leg cramps, takes one minute for them to go away. Big spoon full of mustard take two if the first one didn't work. It works.

Funny thing is, it does work for me and almost instantly, BUT only for cramps in my calves. Pickle juice takes care of them all but takes a little longer to work for me.

You should get the word out on Bird Hunting Forums, that way hunters who head out to Mojave Nat Preserve can be aware and look out for anything that maybe out of place. the MNP is a vast place and you would have to somewhat know your way around there. If the boyfriend was driving a commercial truck then he couldn't really go off road and the body would be in a wash close to and between Essex and Kelbaker roads. Trucks and cars pull off Hwy 40 and sleep on the frontage of these 2 road off - ramps. Rock hunting and miner clubs might also prove helpful.

@@aquachigger There are dozens and dozens of true crime and search and rescue channels on KZbin. Quite a few of them are toxic and will turn on you and badmouth you and your efforts. Some are very messy with their claims and some outright lie, with neither having no proof to back them up. Be careful of who you ask for help and interact with on youtube. Also be sure to identify who you are asking in your spiritual world. Cuz you never know who will answer the call. I'm no expert, I'm just a youtube watcher that's been watching you since 2011, before there was a Chigg's Army, I think.

It is likely the authorities could do a satellite sweep of the areas in and around the last known site she was alive. They must have highly developed software that identifies likely human skeletal remains or fresh graves.

Best way to find someone is think of all possible things. They themselves got lost deliberate, they did by accident, something happened to them, think of it all. Ask if this or that happened, where could they be? Then look at history. Has anyone else went? Look at terrain. Look at similarities between other accounts. Ask locals about all of it. Don't share what you all know but do write all of it down, dates and times. Refer back often. Ask if something bad did happen what you would do if in each persons shoes. All persons, and how it can effect things. Then it is a matter of searching the most obvious spots. Drones help in those pits. Never go alone if possible. Always call out to see if you hear something. Notice smells in areas too. Look at common maps and notice based on that what people would do. It may not be the best place but the most common based on what they had at the time. Hope that all makes sense. I hate violent crime there is too much. I hate people disappear too and never tell anyone. Usually the last a person was seen or heard is the whole key to it all. Closet spot to start looking. Basics of any search I know but always pays to walk back through what we should know. Ropes and repelling gear and a ascender help but never do that all alone. And carry a sat phone a cell or ham radio too. Remember semis can't go too far off road! You hit many of these points already.

I got lost thereabouts in 1977. Using a Ford Pinto to access lava tubes. Now think somebody with aerosol paint lured strangers into a maze of old ruts. Had to use an engineer compass to maintain my bearings. Wasn't looking for feeding buzzards or fresh dug graves.

There's a lot of open land and a few 2 lane blacktop roads that a semi could travel on, i.e. Cadiz Rd. and Amboy Rd. are just a couple. I've driven from 29 Palms to Amboy to Barstow (on 66) at night, nobody and nothing is out there.

My wishes go with you. Calcium with magnesium will knock those cramps right away. I used to get them from work. Most of it was do to not being hydrated . Take three. Seldom do you need more. Works with in a couple hours. Good luck and stay safe. I hope you stay safe.

@@redtobertshateshandles dealt with severe cramps in my right thigh before ( heat ) mustard worked quickly at stopping the cramps.

For me: mustard for calf cramps works almost immediately but doesn't help thigh cramps as much. Pickle juice works for all but takes longer. "Leg Cramps" (name of pills from Walmart) work great as well. I use all three as needed.

No. That is the type that broke, and the friction from the arm cut a hole in the seat long ago. Not sure if that problem is yet solved, but the 4 strap style is amazingly resilient. I am not an expert in this by a long shot though.

Since it's an open ongoing investigation the cops will not disclose what he did or didn't say until the case is closed.

This case is easy to get to the chase. His truck will have an Electronic Logging Device that will show you everywhere the truck has been or stopped. The cellphone gps recorders will do the same thing. She's a missing person so law enforcement will be able to get her cellphone records. They will be able to tell if those text messages were sent in or around the truck by checking the truck's gps history and her cellphone's gps history. If he killed her, you're wasting your time checking the desert. He would be limited to where his truck can go. Once again, the trucks electronic logs will tell you where the truck stopped. I would start by searching all of the desert exits and any side roads a truck could get down. If he did kill her, her body could be along the side of the road in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas or Oklahoma.

I have not received from the family even an acknowledgement that the GPS records were requested or received, although I have asked many, many times. Perhaps they are being kept secret, idk. It's extremely frustrating because with the records we have a decent chance of solving this and without, very little chance without a massive investment in time and people searching.

If she had her own cell phone plan, her family can request them from her cellphone provider. They may need a lawyer. If they had a joint plan or his name is the only one on it, he could stop them from being released. The cellphone records and the truck's log records are something that law enforcement would have requested some time ago, especially if her boyfriend is no longer cooperating. The truck's log history only has to be retained for six months. After that, they can be destroyed. I would stick to searching along I40. There are a lot of exits that trucks can pull off of and park in the desert. The weigh station in Arizona on I-40 is almost always open. I don't think he'd risk taking a body through it. If she was killed by him, he disposed of her body before the state line or she was still alive in Arizona.

Here is a thought. If she goes missing around Az, and his story is off and he says Ca, then go other way and head East. Same distance but other way. The way he wouldn't want people looking.
