Great machine in its time - I had great success with the FBS machines back in the early 2000’s. The thing is, technology and performance has moved on quite a bit, especially when it comes to unmasking and recovery speed. Ferrous tones always had its down falls compared to conductive tones. Ferrous tones tend to drag small low conductors down into bottom left of the screen and into the ferrous zone. Conductive performs much better. The Etrac always ran better in conductive fully open or 1 bar along the bottom.

It's great that you are reviewing machines that are not currently In " fashion" I've recently been gifted a Marrs Gauss it looks a well made , light and Powerful machine from the Ukraine, the interface is difficult, I think it would make great project for a video Cheers Nigel

I quite liked the etrac to use and it’s controls but eventually sold mine cos it was a bit suspect on a half gold sov I found

Does seem that depending on what channel the etrac noise cancel is set on decides on what frequency’s the etrac favours , I will be showing this on a future test 👍🏻

Hunted with the Etrac for over 15 years in heavy iron, I ran wide open just blocking out the lower iron lines and top 2 for wrap around, Found 1000s of 1500s 1600s Spanish colonial artifacts with it in the iron. If that etrac says there's a non ferrous target there TRUST IT, I would pull out handfuls of nails and there was always a non ferrous target there if the Track told me there was.

@@HistoryRevisiteduk I swing the Legend, went head to head with Minelab Detextpert Sean with his new Manticore the Legend hit every target the core did with ease. Both have a little trouble in the flat iron but I prefer the Legend myself, looking forward to the new update. On the ctx3030 I use combined Tone, I am not sure if you have the same options on the e-track?

Using 2 tone ferrous using Etrac is akin to fools gold. Preset ferrous line break for giving nonferrous tone is garbage. 4 tone ferrous better setup. And so is conducive tones with disc let down on screen somewhat. Some folks think because they find things using 2TF it is grand. They don’t know what they are missing using 2TF. Oh yeah they are missing stuff. No doubt. Cheers mate.

Tone break is set to 17 line ferrous. See page 66 of etrac Manual. 4TF tone break line much higher on screen (lower positioned).

17 is very high on a 50 tdi scale, no tone breaks on this machine either
