So so sad to hear that letter written by his adult son. I can only imagine the pain those children went through. It must have been an absolute nightmare. The lengths some humans go to escape situations instead of being just honest and upfront.

@@darrylkinslow5613 imagine growing up knowing your father is missing and presumed dead. That’s all you know. No matter how much they remember him; they still think their dads dead and have no clue what happened to him. They also saw their mother struggle through life with all the debt and raising them on her own. Then all of a sudden he’s back with a whole new family and it turns out he just didn’t want you anymore. It would hurt like hell. It has been shown that growing up without a father-like figure can cause emotional damage to children.

My father left for the 2nd and final time when I was 13 - I didn't see him again until I was 27. He had zero sense of remorse or shame. 1st time he left I was 5: he went to work and didn't come home, the family car was abandoned by the water front, and he'd got a flight back to his home country. He was gone for 2 years. These "people" need serious punishment; there is no justice for people raised like us.

@fodaseyoutub12 жыл бұрын
It's the justice system recognizing that after decades, evidence is lost. Innocent people go to jail even as it is, what do you think would happen if police started prossecuting crimes from 50 years ago when all evidence to prove your innocence has probably been lost. As a United States citizen you have rights in the legal system Right to confront witnesses against you, right to a trial by a jury of your peers. Be free from cruel and unusual punishment and rights to Due Process under the law. The longer it takes for you to be charged with something, the more those rights are impinged. Witnesses die, memories and exculpatory evidence is lost. Alibis are harder to prove. So we set time limits to balance prosecution with protection of rights. You can file charges against someone, say for SA against John Doe an unknown person at this time and it will stay the tolling of the statue of limitations until that person can be identified.

What a monstrous thing to do to both of his families and the dead person whose identity he stole. And what kind of stupid bureaucracy issues a birth certificate for a person with a death certificate? The whole disaster could have been shut down right there.
@jessicablacknall3 жыл бұрын
The birth and death certificate I could understand a bit. My sister has passed and if I needed a copy of her birth certificate for anything, a few years ago I could have taken the death certificate in to show that I'm handling the affairs of a deceased person and need a certified copy of that record. The law in my state only recently changed to where applicants have to show ID and proof of relation to obtain that. Other states may be farther behind in that regard. He could have claimed to be a family member needing a copy.
