A place near where I live does this trying on a real truing machine and he told me that you need to drive your vehicle for a bit to warm the tires up and get away from the flat spots where it was sitting, or get the weight off the vehicle overnight. Makes sense to me, I like your setup. More than one way to skin a catfish

That makes sense. The results were great once I got an alignment and some road time.

I was just about to get new tires because of this going to go get a harbor freight version and give this a try I have nothing to lose.

I had my tires on my Porsche shaved ones it was unbelievable the difference you think you’re riding on round tires but you’re not it was unreal !!!

Yes, It was a major improvement in ride quality!
@santiagomartinezjr3004 ай бұрын
it might have been a good thought to clamp 2x4 square with the tires to get a base line so they where not shaved on a different angle with thin strips to take out on every pass just food for thought not bashing u. u got a good ideal just giving my 2 cents

I’ve always wondered how tires can wear like this. It kind of defies the laws of physics lol.
@TheSalient0ne Жыл бұрын
Usually it happens because of either the vehicle being out of alignment, or worn suspension and/or steering components. A good article can be found here: www.goodyear.com/en_US/learn/tire-care-maintenance/tire-cupping.html

MT tires are prone to cupping due to the voids in the thread pattern.

Would this method help a tire with a flat spot ?
@TheSalient0ne Жыл бұрын
Likely. If the flat spot is from locking up the brakes causing tread loss from braking.
@geraldwegener8376 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSalient0ne These flat spots are from the vehicle sitting for a long period of time. The heavy duty tires have thick like new tread. I'm not necessarily looking for absolute perfect...if i can get some improvement I'll be satisfied. Thanks for the video!
@TheSalient0ne Жыл бұрын
@@geraldwegener8376 A flat spot caused by long-term storage can be repaired by driving the vehicle. Follow these steps: 1. Look on the sidewall of the tire and find the maximum air pressure for the tire. This will be given in pounds per square inch (PSI) and kilopascals (kPa). This video should help you locate this number. 2. Ensure the tires are inflated to this maximum pressure. 3. Drive the vehicle slowly until the vibration from the tires stops. Please note that inflating the tire to this pressure will affect the ride, braking, and fuel consumption, so be extremely careful and don’t drive fast. 4. Drop the tire pressure back to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended pressure.
@geraldwegener8376 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSalient0ne Ok, I'll give that a try. The max pressure for these tires is 65psi. Right now they have 50 psi so I will increase and see what happens. Thanks!

Put the right suspension in tires on your truck and you won't have that problem
