I cannot believe NASA team can conceive, let alone actually materialize pre-programming a complex sequence of events to fly and land a machine on another body millions of miles away. We ougt to have a national day of rememberance and appreciation for engineers, inventors and scientists past and present. We have enough awards and recognition programs for careers that are far less important and instrumental in human progress. CONGRATS!

If you haven't felt that tension, that same bonding because of some intense group endeavor, and understand viscerally what the mission meant to all those people, then all I can say is: "I'm sorry". @@lorena16018 because they can't? They were only receiving something like 8 Kb a second. And the only cameras around were on the lander itself which couldn't send any pictures until it was on the ground (which it did). If you were annoyed with not being able to see what's happening imagine working on this for years and only being able to know what happened based on status pings from the cube sats in orbit. And on top of it all the pings are 8 minutes late so it all happened several minutes ago and they only found out long after it happened. They'll start showing pictures and data as it comes in over the next few weeks.

My close friend worked at NASA, on a project rleated to some telescope. His part was the deploy,mentioned of one small arm, to position the satalitw. If his calculations were off, the whole thing would be kaput. He was just one such cog. He explained to me that each burst of short claps, is usually one groups entire focus for so many years. Did the shoots reply, is the radar working, is the deceleration software working, etc. It's so awesome to me that hundreds of thousands of peoples work is involved, each part could go wrong, and you are sitting there hoping, "yeah, success, but if it has to fail, may it be Sarah's booboo, not mine! hey as a person that knows this stuff could you tell me why there are no good/modern videos of space missions, astronaut wearinga360 camera, letting us view the stars, astronauts inside to take a camera to the window to look outside at the stars, would regular hd cameras that we use everyday here not work in space???
@tanyanguyen3704
@tanyanguyen3704 5 жыл бұрын
Edwin G what do you mean by good space mission videos. There are24/7 streams of ISS looking at earth. There are tons of quality in-depth videos of on board experiments, really boring but important on board discussions between command and the astronauts. There are selfmportraits and videos from both rovers on Mars, there are fly by shots from New horizons, cassini and Galileo. Why are there no 360 cameras? I don't know, but I'm guessing the answer is "why" when a single camera can take images and co,posit to a 360 view just like you or I can do at home with our cameras. Every space walk is filmed by at least three cameras, the one on the suits, one one board focused on the walk, and one from the front of ISS. the footage is really quite boring, hours of slow moving people turning a wrench, or the space equivalent. They generally are not on KZbin, cause who wants to see someone slowly fixing a car? But you can do a FOIA request and get them. All hundreds of hours of them. It's quite interesting if you like space suit design, or want to work on better orientation modules in space. Of course, you still won't see any stars. So star gazing is not something you can do. Every single photo, video, and most sound files are accessable. And if you have an interest, go for it.

@@Vote2024again - Yes. These readings will give NASA more detailed surface data from "up close" or in "direct contact" with the Mars surface, rather than satellite or multi-spectral imagery taken from orbit. So this is meant to be as close to having a person on Mars taking the measurements as possible, right now. The seismometer is going to obtain ground readings and the "mole" probe (instrument) is going to dig up to 5 meters below the surface (bore down, drill down). This is all very cool!

To really appreciate this, you need to consider the fact that NASA has been developing this for years, specifically to work like this, follow this exact sequence of events, land exactly like that and return an exact photo. It's future planning in the best sense of the word. To think that they have designed rovers, spacecrafts and satellites that have been launched 10, 20 years ago and still give meaningful information just the way they are supposed to. Wow. NASA deserves a much, much bigger budget than what they're getting now.

@TheRetroGamest more money is spent on social services than on "weapons of destruction". Look up US government mandatory spending and Learn how small the DoD budget actually is. In FY 2016, mandatory spending accounted for about 60 percent of the federal budget. DoD only gets 686 Billion in 2019. By the way that 686 Billion goes to pay DoD employees. The DoD is the largest employer in the nation. Mandatory spending is 2.739 Trillion in 2019.

🛑🚨🛑🚨🛑🚨🛑🚨🛑🚨🛑🚨🛑🚨hey as a person that knows this stuff could you tell me why there are no good/modern videos of space missions, astronaut wearinga360 camera, letting us view the stars, astronauts inside to take a camera to the window to look outside at the stars, would regular hd cameras that we use everyday here not work in space???
@tompeck5495
@tompeck5495 5 жыл бұрын
@@edwing3638 Well it's important to remember that getting a kilo of equipment into space costs around 22,000 dollars, so you only need to bring whatever's absolutely neccercary to bring. However, Spacex has said that their BFS mission will be streamed live in VR. Also, you can't see the stars from the ISS, or in low-orbit unless you're on Earth's night-side due to over-exposure.

Flush toilets, refrigerated food, medicine, automated manufacturing, farm machinery, solar and wind power, the infernal conbustion engine, drywall, spectacles, clean water - all the fruits of science and engineering and all very much for humanity.
