Mission Editor Tips and Tricks for the F-4E Phantom in DCS

NOTE: Heatblur graciously invited me to obtain early access of the F-4E, and with that I created the Gulf Guardian mission, plus other missions you will find included with the module.
Hey, it's Sedlo here. Just wanted to go through some things that are special with the Heatblur F-4E and the Mission Editor.

Great video, you summarized the features very well, it's a much needed resource for mission makers! I love how Heatblur implemented the navigation, so easy and flexible. One thing about wear and tear and aircraft condition: the way HB explained it, Condition is production quality. It should be around 80-90 for an average USAF bird, 100 for a perfect display model, and much lower for those maintained using aftermarket parts in the desert. Wear and tear is exactly what you described, how much each part is allowed to deviate from 'factory fresh' standards, e.g. sticky needles, slow moving landing gear, etc...Pretty cool feature!

I feel like another reason Heatblur may have gone with the unrestricted skins is that players were routinely just .LUA editing them to be unrestricted in multiplayer anyway, especially since MP sometimes has weird coalition nations

Thanks a lot !!! Very informative and useful. I have a different oppinion about the „flexibility“ that you mention but I guess it is about our realism expectations with such modules. In any case thanks a lot for the very useful video.

I agree with you there. Love the realism myself, but it’s good to give the options for those who like to imagine alternate realities. The module is going to be a game changer for DCS!

Thinks for the tip about trigger zone map markers. I normally add marks with the F10 map and Jester in F-14.

Ah, you have to click the 'Clock' icon in the bottom of the editor. Maybe useful for other dumbnuts like myself :)

hey, you said the radio param was UHF_FREQ is that for both pilot and wiso or will i have to do "UHF1_FREQ" for pilot and 2 for wiso? Because i cant seem to get it to work

Holy fudge doodle... I f'd it up. It's COMM_FREQ AND AUX_FREQ. I mixed up this with another jet as I was recording. Darn.

@@sedlo Thank you for the quick response.. no im made a mission ages ago for the f4 and now trying to integrate the f4 into the mission but im stuck on the cockpit pram for the radio. COMM1_FREQ was what it was originally set to for the f16 which i built the mission with.

It’s probably super simple but how did you change the colors of your jester wheel ?

I didn’t do anything specific, I think it’s because this mission starts at Sunrise, so the nighttime mode is still engaged.
