Honestly, I think this video loses some effectiveness by being so over-the-top. I don't think there is a Captain *quite* that abysmal operating out there - I mean come on: "have you looked at the NOTAMs?" "Yeah, something about the IL--" "Okay great!". These types of things work best when a pilot or cabin crew member can watch and go, "crap, s/he's a bit like me. Am I unsafe?", not when everyone can watch and go, "Wow! What a guy! Glad I'm not like him!"

You're absolutely right. The video is probably most appropriate for early cabin crew "awareness" training outside of the CRM environment. We learn far more from the subtlety. The video "Problem With Personalities" is a better (but far from perfect) example.

@@icemachine79 Years later I know, but more recently a PIA flight where the crew tried to land an Airbus after making an approach from 10,000ft with just about 20nm to run to the airport and not realising and ignoring the warnings that the landing gear was UP (and damaging the engines in the process) proves...yeah, there are Captains who really are quite abysmal operating. And most of the passengers and crew paid the price for stupidity in the cockpit.
