Join us on our first-time watching Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One. This has to be without a doubt some of the best action we've seen all year. This film was filled with high-stakes moments, action-packed sequences and of course the suspense that the Mission: Impossible movies are known for.
Ethan Hunt played by actor and incredibly talented stuntman Tom Cruise makes his return as he and his team have to tackle yet another world ending conflict. The intricate web of espionage has only gotten stickier now that a mysterious AI named The Entity has gotten so powerful it is now considered to be sentient.
We thoroughly enjoyed the action sequences in this movie. The high paced chase in the streets of Rome which were shot on location which makes a huge difference when watching, the exhilarating scene leading up to Ethan Hunt having to jump from a cliff on a motorcycle which was all shot for real (Yeah...Tom Cruise actually did that) to the nail-biting edge of your seat finale that featured a high speed train approaching a collapsed bridge. There is so much to love about this film! The way it was shot, the way it was edited and the way the actors portrayed the characters.
Newcomer to the series Hayley Atwell does such an incredible job as Grace and simply fits right into place with the rest of the crew. Fan favorites Luther and Benji played by Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg continue to be incredibly well written supporting characters that are ride or die for their team and the sake of the world.
Another standout was Vanessa Kirby. She had to do scenes that required a lot more range and we got to see some of those acting chops especially during the train sequence.
And of course we must mention the incredible work Lorne Balfe has done with this series. His Mission: Impossible music is our favorite out of the entire franchise. It adds depth, tension and the sense of pure adrenaline to scenes that were already close to perfect. Add in the music and you have an iconic sequence that Mission: Impossible just seems to keep getting better and better at executing.

I loved everything in this movie, specialy the return of Henry Czerny as Kittridge. According to some interviews, he created a lot of his dialogues. My greatest fear in this movie was to him be the villain in the end, but they kept the caracter faithful to the purpose of a more shady side in the good guys, just like the first MI.

This was another great entry in the M:I film series. I particularly enjoyed this one. Yes, Ilsa's death stung but I feel it was a necessary narrative choice to up the stakes and further establish the threat (though I'll miss her). I'm genuinely excited for Part 2. Great reaction, guys! Just discovered your channel.
@MamadNobari
@MamadNobari 8 ай бұрын
Nah, not really. Ilsa's death felt like it was only there for either the actress leaving the franchise for maybe schedule reasons, or mostly because they wanted a new woman character and you apparently can't have two female spies on the group. Or it was just Tom Cruise getting bored with Rebecca Ferguson and wanting a new hot lady to work with.
@SCharlesDennicon
@SCharlesDennicon 8 ай бұрын
How was it "necessary"? They replaced her with another beautiful brunette, like they were interchangeable, and a character that is waaaay less endearing and interesting than Ilsa.
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights 8 ай бұрын
After the movie we were actually discussing this. It’s an M:I movie…so we’re never too sure if someone is fully dead. After all sometimes what they show isn’t fully real (unreliable narrator) but it did look pretty finite. They wanted a death to up the stakes as you mentioned but didn’t go for Benji or Luther which we believe as bad as that would’ve hurt it would’ve been the stronger choice. And because we were also introduced to Grace it feels like they swapped them. Combine that with the film not having time to mourn her in any real capacity it lacked the depth to make an impact. It just hurt and then we moved on. Again this could be for a number of reasons we won’t know for sure until part two comes out.
@SCharlesDennicon
@SCharlesDennicon 8 ай бұрын
@@OfficialMediaKnights Hey. About Ilsa's status. You say that we're never sure if someone is fully dead. First of all, it's not an MCU movie. :D Secondly, let's say she's not dead (either someone resurrected her... but it would imply that Hunt and his crew let her corpse rot somewhere... ^^; or it was someone else wearing an Ilsa mask... but seriously, how ?) : bringing her back in part 2 would suck, hard. I'd be glad to see her again, big fan of the actress, but it would make her death a cheat plot point, the damage would be done. I've read theories according to which it would be all fake, like Phelps' death in M:I, it would be a ploy, and Ethan & Cie would act like Ilsa's dead to deceive the Entity, but it feels way too contrived, imo. To me, go figure what went through McQ's head, she's dead dead. Which is why, as you say, the aftermath was so underwhelming. But sure, I'm not saying there's no way part 2 will surprise us. It's just frustrating to have to wait for more than a year. :)

Ilsa ain’t dead. I know it looks like she died, but I’m 99.99% sure it’s a fake out. The only way to beat the Entity is to introduce a variable that it doesn’t know about. Now Ilsa can operate freely, unchecked by the Entity. Remember the first movie where Phelps faked his death on a bridge? This parallel is not accidental. Ilsa will return at a pivotal moment in Part 2.

A. In the Bible, Gabriel is a messenger angel of God, so its fitting the Entity's chosen human emissary is someone named Gabriel. Cool detail. B. A very small detail that I love is when they realize Grace has to get on the train alone, Grace makes Ethan promise he will be there. Earlier in the movie Gabriel tells Grace that Ethan will leave her for the mission because he only cares about the mission (we know that's not true). When Ethan shows up and saves her (that insane crash into the train) you can see the moment Grace believes in him happen. She cries and shakes her head when he asks if she's okay. Great acting moment from Hayley and nice moment in the movie.

I'm hoping that in part two, get more insight on his past life. Since everyone know that the train crash scene is literally a reference to *Uncharted 2* I'm convince that Grace is literally a female mirror version of Drake: She's a orphan and a thief. So does that make Ethan Hunt, Sully?

Part 2 is obviously going to be about using that key to get access to the submarine where the Entity is in embedded.

Hi there and hello Media Knights. I agree with you that the stunt work in the Mission movies is second to none but the RedBull guys do this sort of thing before breakfast.

I want Pom in the next few movies, joining the IMF!! Cary Elwes is the primary character in Princess Bride and Robin Hood - Men in Tights. And yes, he was also in Twister.

I have a movie recommendation for you to react to: V/H/S 85 (2023), new Found Footage anthology horror film from the franchise of the same name, with new intense, brutal and surprising segments, you don't need to have seen the others to understand this one is, worth checking out.

The thing I love about this script is that it's a bit of a call back to the Stuxnet virus. DHS reported to the NSA that their system was under cyber attack... The NSA was reluctant to admit that it was their own cyber weapon that was released and ran amok across the globe.

I have a feeling these two films are gonna be the last ones with Cruise involved, but I don't think its gonna be the last one, even though its tough to top Hunt's IMF team of him, Luther BEji, and Ilsa (RIP), but if they d what I think they're gonna do .... Ethan gets retired again, and the sequel introduces Hunts replacement - maybe Grace? I dunno, we'll see!

They literally did that yup…unless part two has some kind of crazy M:I twist and what we saw came from the POV of an unreliable narrator just like the original M:I it kinda sucks they killed her off. I understand they wanted to up the stakes but having her die + a newcomer coming in kinda feels like a replacement. It’s gonna sound horrible but Benji or Luther would’ve been a stronger choice. We would’ve hated the outcome but writing wise it would’ve given them what they wanted (up the stakes) without feeling like they just replaced Ilsa. But who knows maybe it was the actress as well, we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes could’ve been a scheduling thing etc

@@OfficialMediaKnights That's what I was hoping too... its just that some interviews from the director make me not hold out any hope. I just really enjoyed this movie, but that turn of events will always prevent this movie from being the best in the series for me. That train sequence at the end was awesome especially for someone who played Uncharted 2, which I believe inspired this action sequence.

Another great reaction! The"Mission Impossible" movies just keep getting better! The action scenes alone are as, um, "unpredictable" as Tom Cruise, who's meant to play Ethan Hunt. Fun Facts: Grace is played by Hayley Atwell, who's Agent/Captain Carter in the MCU & Ilsa, is played by Pom Klimentieff (sp?), AKA "Mantis" from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies, so they can definitely handle action scenes. Esai Morales made his big-screen debut as a villain in "Bad Boys" opposite Sean Penn & Clancy Brown, has a guest role as a vampire in the final season of the TV reboot of "From Dusk Till Dawn" & is Bob Valens, Richie Valen's brother in "La Bamba." As for Gabriel, he's played by Cary Elwes, who's also Westley in "The Princess Bride." Other movies you could react to: "Collateral," "Edge of Tomorrow," "Apollo 13," "One False Move," "Near Dark," "True Lies," "A Simple Plan" & "Trespass," a movie with Bill Paxton playing one of 2 firefighters who go on a treasure hunt and cross paths with gangsters played by Ice-T and Ice Cube.

We’re all gonna miss Ilsa man…such a great character. The characters were under such pressure they didn’t have time to mourn really. Would love to see some of that emotion in part two. They’re all agents…they know what the life is but still. Losing Ilsa sucked!
