Have to agree with that. Barbara Bain was gorgeous--and deadly cool.

What I find amazing about this show is that there was no character development at all, and yet it still managed to be exciting and absorbing. I mean: the principals hardly ever showed spontaneous emotion; it was all a question of logistics for them, and yet everything was worked out so carefully, and timed so precisely, that the plots managed to be suspenseful anyway. A remarkable show. Nothing else quite like it.

This show was masterfully done...you never could figure it all out until it was played out in front of you!..VERY clever! the actors were all great!...Even though we didjn't get to know them!...But I MUCH appreciate them none-the -less!...GREAT show!!! Barbara won best actress in a dramatic series 3 years in a row for this....martin SHOULD have as well! The man is brilliant! Barney could do no wrong!...All males and Barbara...were hotties!...just me...jan

Man, I really like this show! All the characters are great. The cinematography was really good, and a bit unusual, as that was half the storyteller. Why is this show soooo intriguing?

All those missions were supposedly impossible. Yet, they would have gone into disguise and waltzed the ring right into Mordor

Awesome job. I have always loved this show since seeing it in reruns on FX back in the day when I was a kid. Thank god for DVD. Hopefully, after releasing Season 6 and 7 we'll get the late 80's revival version on DVD too.

You're right about that! Character development was sacrificed almost entirely because there simply wasn't time for it with all the plot intricacies. There was also a conscience decision to avoid character development to keep the mysterious nature of the IMF team intact.

Mr.Peter Grave (aka) Mr. phelps was indeed the Master Mind of the IMF team. You can't be but amazed by the ingenuity of specifically planned out plots that all work together in the end.

@elmerfusco Tom Cruise with an ensemble cast? No way. He wants to be the center of the attention, the lone hero. You're right, the show was about teamwork, people working together.

In some of the early episodes the characters definitely did show emotion, for example I remember Landau practising impersonating somebody's voice and saying "I'll never get it", and it was only as the series progressed that the characters became more wooden and less human..:)

True, but Seasons 5- 6 have some great episodes, such as "The Innocent" (s5), "Death Squad" (s5), "Stone Pillow" (s6), "Double Dead" (s6), "Blind" (s6), and "The Hostage" (s5).

Yup, he sure does slap her. Of course, it's all part of an act played out to fool a hit man/mob boss type into sympathizing with Cinnamon. The last shot in the majority of the opening segments was usually something physical: someone getting slapped, punched, karate-chopped or shot. My personal favorite is a second season episode in which the final shots shows Phelps tossing a pump shotgun to Willy and then he looks down at it and pumps it - ready for action!

Another fantastic job, Crocoboxer...you seemed to save the best clips for the last shots before the cast intro. In this one, Phelps (who looked great in the sweater, btw) appears to slap Cinammon. Was that the case?

I might've agree at the start of the first movie, since the opening gambit was pure MI. But as it became more about Ethan and less about the team - and then there was that awful decision to make Mr. Phelps a double agent? And the reason for it? He was a disgruntled government employee? No, I can't even accept the first film.

Loved that ep. The fact that the team came together to help even though it wasn't an official mission. (I remembered it was the one with Paris because when Barney tried to talk them out of it Paris said they were wasting time). The ep show they were more than co-workers they were family.

I eventually got fed up of MI in the later series because their gadgetry was too far-fetched and unbelievable and the show never rang true any more. Also I found it hard to follow the storyline of most shows. At least with these youtube vids I can rewind to listen to the opening mission-setting scene once or twice so it sinks in. I've had my say, I will now self-destruct in 5 seconds..:)
