Mission of Burma are a Post-Punk/Alternative Rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. This video is ripped directly from my copy of the live DVD included with the Vs. 2008 album vinyl reissue. This video was directed and produced by Paul Rachman (American Hardcore) at what was supposed to be one of MOB's final shows. I believe the Hardcore band Negative FX also played this show (Which is why there are lots of Hardcore kids in this footage), during which a riot broke out. It was their last show also. Two sets were recorded: An afternoon set (this) and an evening one. I will remove this video at the request of any of the members of MOB, Rachman or anyone at Matador and/or Ace of Hearts Records. I wholeheartedly support MOB and encourage every single person who watches this does so also. 0:00 Intro 0:39 The Balled of Johnny Burma 3:00 Red 7:23 Dirt 10:38 Forget 13:43 Secrets 17:31 Academy Fight Song 21:05 Trem Two 25:15 Sing-A-Long 29:16 That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate 31:39 Weatherbox 34:58 That's When I Reach For My Revolver 39:15 Learn How 42:57 OK/No Way 47:00 Encore: Fun World 51:40 Encore: All World Cowboy Romance

My high school pals and I were at that show. Mind-blowing energy. Positive yet crazy and unhinged. We made our own cassette bootleg. Haw! Roger rules.

I read that they recorded cleaner and mellower songs that they actually intended, so they played them rougher live. This is more chaotic and noisy than the recordings, I FUCKING LOVE IT!

I have just been reading the book Our band could change your life and there is a chapter on these guys. I'd heard of them, but obviously only gave a track or two a listening in passing but reading the book led me to listen to the early albums which made me realize that my younger self made an error. THIS FOOTAGE tho, omg. Captures the spirit of what I read and the times. Loving it.

Thanks for sharing. Bought the Vinyl in 1985 or 1986 mostly because there was a Pere Ubu cover (a band that covered Ubu couldn' be bad) and I didn't know until reading "Our band could be your life" (which I really recommend) that there is footage of these shows.

That bass tone! If anyone knows Conley, can you please ask him about his signal path and the EQing of his amp. He is absolutely pounding those strings and his signal holds together as if he's playing through 5 preamp pedals.

Why are MOB such a wholesome band?? Roger Miller doesn't mind fans doing stage dives and smiles enough, Clint smokes a ciggy while playing fat basslines and I think Pete is backing Roger's vocals but he would have done that with ease if he were to lead. Such diverse effects on them songs make me go GAGA!!

there was a person in the band who manipulated tape loops using the venues PA speaker so it's not a guitar
@Meddled3 жыл бұрын
Martin Swope was the guy. He didn't come back for the band's reunion. He would record snippets during soundchecks then loop these, run the tapes at half or double speed or backwards etc. He wasn't onstage so these weird loops and textures seem to fade in from nowhere.
