Now who would have thought of MJH on banjo, any more than "Statesboro" on dobro? Good Lord, this is great. Thanks for keeping the faith.

after watching the different versions of this song posted out there, you realize how masterfully John Hurt did his thing. You and all those other guys play and sound so good, so you must have even greater insight and apreciation of what John Hurt did. I like you version best, it captures the spirit of that 1928 version

Awesome! I do a version of "Coffee Blues" on clawhammer banjo. I think many of his tunes sound more like "old-timey" country than blues, not that there really needs to be a strict categorization. Keep up the good picking. Bill in Johnstown, N.Y.

I picked up learning banjo a little over a year ago. Been making up my own crap, can't play any beautiful old folk songs yet (that's what I want to learn) BUT point of relevance, this is incredible. I hope you play open mics wherever you are, because your collection of songs is admirable. and you can sing.

Mighty fine! Do you like Bluegrass too? Uncle Dave Macon? Raymond Fairchild is a lot of fun to watch doing "Whoa Mule"!

Nice job on this one. Usually trickier than most folks realize but you came through just fine. I think with your voice you could do a fine job with "The Cuckoo." Several versions are on line, but it originates in its modern form with Clarence Ashley. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKjPgIJuh6xgpck He's playing G#m then F. With your voice, I'd figure Dm and C. Of course, if you did the song, you'd have to do it from the feminine perspective.

are you doing something alternating thumb in this or is it all on the D string?

Sounds much better on guitar. Each note is more defined. Is this thang out of tune?
