It's State Park Saturday! Every month we will share a video from one of our beautiful Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Mississippi State Parks. TThis month's park is Trace State Park in Belden.
Trace State Park is a rich part of Mississippi's History as the park was once the home to one of America's early and colorful pioneers, Davy Crockett. Crockett lived here as a horse trader with the Chickasaw Indians after his defeat for re-election to Congress in his home state of Tennessee.
The park now has two playground areas, picnic sites, a large picnic pavilion, cabins, cottages, and tent camping sites, along with a disc golf course, non-motorized and motorized trails, kayak rentals, and access to a neighboring 18-hole golf course. Plus, the 565-acre Old Natchez Trace Lake is also available for water activities.
