Joe, years ago you were the first person to ever show me a dam leak and how. You repaired. Man your back had to hurt after that job.

Wow Brett it's been a lot of years now!! yeah I can only handle 2 to 3 hours on a machine. But this is beautiful that i NOW LIVE on the land management project! So I can work at it any day of the week! No travel, not trailers, no loading, no unloading.. That is a great life change and upgrade! Cheers man

The pond is looking good with the dam cleared.

It was another good day in the field! Love getting fresh air especially now that it's winter! ugghh.. Bet you got a bunch of snow now?
@photocontrol23 күн бұрын
@@KapperOutdoors2.0 No snow yet, not even a hard freeze, just rain rain rain, about 10" of total rain for December. Getting the milder wet conditions off the Pacific, those polar vortex's can stay away lol.

Good work Kappr, I really liked the look of the evergreens around the pond, and their reflection in the pond. to bad they had to go.
@KapperOutdoors2.0Ай бұрын
Yeah they are pretty along a pond, but not on the pond dam, lol. Thanks man

Recently i have heard of Polymer Pond Flakes. They dissolve in water and are drawn to leak points, and somehow stop the leaks. They are expensive, but are rumored to be highly effective.

Well I have used the clay stuff, bentonite with mixed results. But the beauty of my situation is that I live here and have the mini ex. So when I finish building out this pond dam I can cut it open and plug the leak center dam, which has alwasy worked for me. No need for the expensive flakes! Thanks

Hello sir, another quick way to stop small leaks like that is to buy a bag of bentonite and spread over the side that is leaking. the bentonite will fill the cracks and seal it. Just another option, I thought i'd mention.
@KapperOutdoors2.0Ай бұрын
Yep I have used it but with mixed results. The good news is that I have the mini ex and can fix it after I build out the dam much wider. A quick hour or 2 dig in the center of the dam and I should be able to fix it permanently! Thank you have a great Thanksgiving!

@@KapperOutdoors2.0 you too. just thought i'd throw that out there, just in case. you have some AWESOME property.

Maybe a little compaction will stop the leak, it's worth a try!
@KapperOutdoors2.0Ай бұрын
Yep, but I don't think I'll get 'lucky' on this one! lol

I think, back when you were building the little duck hole on the Illinois property I mentioned a plate compactor would be a great accessory for the excavator. It’s just a thought, I know all that vibration probably wouldn’t be good on your back. No matter what I know you’ll get the leak fixed.
@KapperOutdoors2.0Ай бұрын
Yeah wow that seems so long ago!! I would have followed through more on that adventure if the first year it didn't freeze out, which basically I was not far enough south to make it actually work unless I got some kind of ice breaker system. So I gave up on it. But we might be getting a Kioti skid steer soon, which will help with all the dirt projects! Thanks man

For a small leak like you have Kapper Shalix Damit should work

I look forward to trying to get it patched up after I build out the dam some more. I've had not so good results the first couple times I used bentonite so I'm not really sold on such things, especially if I have a seam of rock that the water is pushing out against. That will be a challenge for a 'plug' type of fix I would think. But I'll keep at it this winter and hopefully by spring get it fixed up! Thanks
