the world began in Africa and these were a nice tribe... always loving, always kind. many of those traits still exist in folks that have the African ancestry... ONLY when scourges of society infiltrate the normal calm lovingness of the Afro-folk, then certain things become usurped. However from what I have seen this continent is rich in history, culture, love, spices, earthly gems and EVERYTHING richness is. Wealth comes along with the richness too, but only to some folks... whatever. Wealth is not all. RICHNESS is the true value of life and I have seen it in the behaviors and attitudes and actions in many people from the Eastern world.

putting aside the long beautiful hair for a moment - it is so refreshing to see ppl living in harmony with nature. the background caught my eye most - women together with the children and others doing household tasks like sewing etc. the hair product itself could not be more natural - they used ingredients they probably grew themselves. then there is the generational bonds of doing each others hair every 5 days. makes me want to move to Africa.

La la Land That's what they all say once u get into the reasons why they don't like black women. I've always been curious as to why men of other races would jump at the chance to be with a Denise Katrina Mathews, or a Zoe Saldana, but never a Tisha Campbell or a Keysha Cole. White men especially LOVE LOVE LOVE dark skin. Dark is what every white woman wants to be. But men just don't care for the masculine attitudes, and the facial features black women typically have. I used to be very ashamed of my color growing up, because of the colorism bullshit in the black community. I find the lack of grey hair to be extremely interesting. However, I found this video after watching several others on how black women can retain length, and grow waist length hair. After watching the videos and making sure my natural 4c hair stays moisturized, I am amazed by the fact that we can grow our hair just as long as other ethnic groups. Unfortunately, many of us were not taught the proper way to moisturize, deep condition, and retain length by finger detangling. This is by no means the fault of our mothers. They simply taught us what they were taught.

The reason why a lot of black women in the western world don’t have long natural hair like this as we should, is because of not only the chemicals that are in the shampoos we use but also because of the weather. If I leave my natural hair out, even in protective styles, the amount of breakage I get is unbelievable. Our hair isn’t built for cold climates- and then we are bashed for wearing braids/wigs/weave when in reality a lot of women are just trying to shield their hair from the polluted air and are just trying to grow their natural hair.

So in essence, stretched hair helps to reduce breakage because it doesn't get a chance to get tangled. So keeping their hair always stretched completely removes that risk. Many people have problems with length retention, so yes, it's really not about genetics. this video is really awesome, I feel bittersweet about watching it though. They should be celebrated but also be protected.

Agreed. Remember back when curly/Jerry curls was in fashion and black peoples hair grew so fast. They thought it was the perm but it just keeping it moisturised. I had my hair stretched in pigtails and my hair grew so fast. by hair only starting breaking because I let my hair down for bed. I thought it was the perm relaxer but it was not. I was just buying into another myth about perms. I will do the same again with my relaxed hair and keep it in pigtails while working out and in the villa.
@Kelly101Girl7 жыл бұрын
Amazing Miracles thats why, generally, many little black girls are able to retain length because of the easy styling such as pigtails, twists, braids and moisture constantly being applied to their heads. As we get older the lack of those hairstyles included with the mosturie and constant manipulation causes our hair to become strained, dry, and tangled and eventuality break off over time. Thus in the end not being able to retain length ☹

I'm glad you did this video. The 1st woman that was getting her hair done reminds me of my mother. My mother has a dark brownish red complexion & jet black silky wavy/curly hair. I never understood where the stereotype that Black people were afraid to get their hair wet came from. My mother has always wetted her hair before styling it & she also did the same to my hair on a daily basis. My mom's hair stops above her buttocks & mine at the center of my back. We've always used two things, water & hair grease or oil.

I grew up using gease and water and my hair was much nicer then it is now. Now I just can't seem to find the right oil. I'm literally about to go back to Blue Magic 😂

blackvelvetno1 agreed. Haircare is lucrative, I'm sure God provides all they need but Chad does not appear particulary wealthy and I would not like to hear later they were exploited or mistreated later

These women would make a killing in the states with this remedy. My great-grandmother use to grow the hair of everyone we knew in our hood. I want to take up her craft.

@@littleblueprintwritinghood192 we need to stop this madness. African vs African American. We are so much alike and share even common enemies and yet we choose to separate ourselves. To our own detriment no less. We allow ourselves to fall victim to hate built on lies and misguided propaganda. I don't consider myself an African American. Not because I have anything against my African cousins but I'm not completely African. I'm also native with a small and unwanted amount of white DNA. So hating any of these groups is only hating a part of myself. As I am on the journey to self healing self love is at the top of the many things it takes to do so, heal myself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This is where we find our true self. We are both different and alike all at the same time. Please don't keep being a victim of hatred. You were created to be of a higher vibration than that. Hence the melanin/ether/carbon/status m star dust in your skin. Peace, love, health, wealth, and happiness in abundance to you dear fam. Mother bless you and all that is yours to claim💖💖💖💖🌎🌍🌏🙏🙏🙏🙏💎💎💎💎👑👑👑👑👑

@Ousmane Barry those are features you associate with being non black... but in reality as the “original people” Africans can and do have features you associate with being white without being “mixed”. But their features don’t even look white to me.

We have been lied to so many times about our black race. Black people grow long hair, they are strong, they are beautiful, smart, loving , caring and industrious, people were threatened by our uniqueness, we have all shades all hair textures, all eye colors, just plain and simply unique

Protective styling at it's finest. Myself and both my dd have hip length or longer hair due to very low maintenance hair styling. We don't use anything special, just wash, condition, and either avocado or jojoba oil. I like to seal with regular old hair grease. We are always asked how we get our hair so long.

quietstormaps same here, mine is mid-back. I keep it washed and conditioned once a week, keep it moisturized with Shea butter, aloe vera, almond oil and leave in conditioner mixed with humectant.....never, ever letting it get dried out. It's always worked very well for me and my sister's. Their hair is past their waists. My grandmother had hair to her feet, she kept it in long two braids as long as i can remember. And before anyone says it.....I'm black with two black parents.

My diet is very good. I eat a whole food plant based diet and have done so for about 6-7 years My daughters', however, eat whatever they want and don't follow any particular diet and their hair thrives. I'm sure genetics play a part, but I also believe our hair practices and doing low maintenance, not using much heat (we wash and flat iron once a month and don't use heat until our next wash day), helps a lot. Our hairtype, if interested, is 3c/4a and 4a.

quietstormaps So you seal with oil first then grease on top? Is the grease ever drying or hard to cleanse from your hair?
