I thought it was hormonal or a vitamin deficiency of some sort. I was trying everything to stop the shedding and thinning around my hairline. I even had a small bald spot at the crown of my hair. @jdbailey442Ай бұрын
I have concerns about how that oil is formulated. Essential oils are typically 1-5% of a formulation, which means they should be towards the bottom of the ingredients. This percentage range is often to prevent the likelihood of irritation. Even it were 10-15% it would be towards the bottom of the ingredient list and heavily diluted. Ingredients should be listed from largest to smallest on product labels. Essential oils like tea tree, peppermint, rosemary, etc. can be extremely irritating and drying if they are not diluted properly. I haven't looked at the other products in the line. Given Monique's history with bullying influencers I am not sure I believe her. I have not used any of the products from this line.

I have been following this case, and I think both things can be true at the same time. I believe that her product was slandered and libeled via influencers who has no moral compass and will accept money to spout off about anything, and I also believe that putting essential oils directly on your scalp is incredibly risky and bad for both hair and follicles. Essential oil is literally the most powerful parts of plants and herbs. It needs a carrier oil if it's going to be used on the scalp, but oils and butters do not allow sebum, the natural oil your body produces, to exit the follicle because the follicle is blocked. This follicle blocking causes hair loss. Once the follicle is blocked, continued use of essential oil on the scalp kills the follicle, often permanently. The only thing that I believe Monique Rodriguez messed up on is not acknowledging the role of the essential oils in her products.
@KlassicallyKeptАй бұрын
Good morning, Thank you for this! Using essential oils is definitely a balancing act. From what I understand the reason many people loved Mielle was because of their constant use of essential oils in their collections. When a product goes into mass production the quality of the product is likely to be compromised. Production companies want to get the product out to as many people as possible, while the company spends as least as possible. With that being said, the ingredients may not have changed, but as you said, the quality of the product may have changed in order to cut cost. I would also be willing to bet that the formula would also change once a product goes into mass production, for example: if the oil cost more/less than aloe, the company might decide to use more aloe than oil. So, all the same ingredients are there, but just in different quantities.

By the time I stopped using the well known brands my scalp was inflamed and very sore and I was bald. I think Coconut oil was one of the problems. Coconut oil clogs your pores. To make a long story short, I decided to create my own hair care products that are made with organic and natural ingredients. My hair has grown back fully and it's thick. It took awhile because I had to grow new hair follicles and heal my scalp. Instead of Coconut oil, I use Avocado Oil and other essential oils. You have to be very careful with Protein and rice water. Protein should not be used with every hair wash. Protein is a special hair treatment to be used at the most once a month or whenever your hair needs it. Because of this, my products do not have protein in them at all. I have tested rice water and other protein shampoo's and conditioners. After one or two uses, my hair started thinning and breaking really bad. I went back to my regular shampoo and conditioner which repaired the damage and I haven't used nor tried Protein products again. Maybe one day I will create a Protein Hair treatment to be used at the most once a month or every other month. My 4c hair doesn't seem to need protein nor the rice water. It's thriving and growing without it.

I had never heard the allegations; I bought the oil last year with other products, then realized it didn't have any type of seal. I don't like that, so I returned it unused. She should re-think her packaging and put a tight, strong seal under the cap so that you can't even get a whiff of it without breaking the seal, and the seal can't accidently come off (like TB's line).

My daughter and I have had a good experience with Mielle. I started using it in Dec 2023 (after it was sold). I use almost every product in the rosemary mint line-some daily, some weekly etc. The front of my hair (where I was mostly applying the oil to strengthen my edges and grow my hair back from damage) has grown so much, it almost looks fake lol. But I agree with you - I do not like the way the brand responded to this and I especially agree “everyone cannot be lying”. I’m probably going to try the sunny isle rosemary mint oil next because I’ve heard good things about it, but I’ll continue to use the rosemary mint line because it works for me/my daughter and we have been using it for a year. I swear my daughter has the longest thickest 4b hair of a 3 year old ever lol

I only used the oils from Mielle because my hair didn't care for the leave-ins. I loved the way initially the Rosemary & Mint made my scalp feel, but after about 20-30 minutes my scalp would become itchy and inflammed. I tried it multiple situations (freshly washed, prepoo-poo scalp treatment, hot oil treatment, etc) however I always had the same reaction. So my thinking is my scalp is sensitive in something in the formulation - which can happen to anyone with any product they try.

My daughter told me about the issue being discussed here. At the time, I did not pay much attention to what she said. We both use Mielle products. I think my daughter has since stopped. However, I still do, and after listening to this video, I wonder. I always used Eco Gel and stopped because I was told that gels make your hair dry and my hair was somewhat drying. I stopped using the Eco gel and started using the Mielle coil sculpting custard in my everyday hair styling. I also use the Mielle leave-in conditioner once a week after I wash my hair. I already had thinning hair, but now my hair is thinning even more than before and excessively brittle, and I am beginning to wonder if these products may be the issue or at least part of it. I guess the only way to find out is to stop the products and see what happens. My hair is almost at a point where I have to consider wearing a wig because my scalp is exposed in areas. It would be extremely sad if this is the case. I agree with you that the company needs to address these concerns. Thanks

I started growing my hair from a TWA in August of 2023. I purchased the Rosemary Mielle line several months in. I experienced excessive shedding, and that was before I knew of any controversy about Mielle. I had also purchased the oil to apply to my edges. It did not help my edges, in fact, it hindered them. At that point I stopped using Mielle. I had also purchased the Mielle product in the red bottle. I stopped using all of the Mielle products, then I noticed the controversy. For Ms Rodriquez to not even mention that there had been many reports of people experiencing hair loss from her products is suspect in my opinion. I am loyal to any product that helps my hair and does what I purchased it to do. It makes no sense to me to be loyal to a product that is causing my hair to fall out. I have no obligation to be loyal to her. The whole sabotage story? I don't believe it. She doesn't seem to be concerned about her customers. She seems to lack empathy. Just my opinion.

The Rosemary Mint is a strengthening set! Just like a adding protein to strengthen hair once or twice per month! I use Mielle products and its actually working to strengthen my hair for growth. Her Rosemary Mint set should be use in place of a protein treatment, if you prefer! That’s how strong it is! If used too often for weekly or biweekly shampooing, yes, Rosemary Mint Strengthening will dry out your hair, just like a protein treatment! If using the Oil on scalp, make sure it washed out to within 1 hour or after overnight to avoid scalp irritation. So be cautious and use Mielle products for your hair concerns. I hope what stated here helps someone in their hair journey! Thank you sharing! Sharing is caring!😊❤

I big chopped my hair a year ago and i’m VERY familiar with ingredients in hair products and my mom is a stylist so I’m familiar with hair products and I was making my own products until I got lazy. After my big chop I didn’t use the same products with each hair wash because I was trying to find out what gives me the slippage that I like so one week I unfortunately used the Miele products and noticed one section of my hair looked a totally different texture and it stayed like that for months so I paid extra close attention to that section and gave it extra tlc. Also when i used the Miele products I was combing what i thought to be shedding but it was big balls of hair. I thought ok i don’t comb through it on a regular so it must be ok. If it wasn’t for the difference in texture like an over processed relaxer (cotton like )I wouldn’t have thought twice about Miele but that didn’t sit right so I gave it to my mom’s friend who insisted I just wanted to throw away money and I was crazy. Ask me why I saw her last month with PATCHES of hair missing?? I forgot all about her taking the products until I saw a video about a woman’s hair falling out and Miele products because I thought my hair that didn’t work with it. I asked my moms friend what she’s been using and she said “The products you were throwing away” What’s sad is her products are costly and just because of the price she assumed that it’s automatically good. I just shook my head and sent her a few videos and told her to remember I told her something wasn’t right with this brand but she said I was WASTING MONEY by just throwing it away. But I believe these women 💯%

Great vid, Mya! You said several things here that are important to consider. A class-action lawsuit has been officially filed 11/21/24 against Mielle & P&G. Regarding the other big box brands you mentioned who've also had lawsuits filed - as a professional who researches ingredients. It's the ingredients. It's ALWAYS the ingredients and how they interact with an individuals body chemistry. The short end of it is the amount of time it takes toxins to build up in a persons system and cause symptoms varies which can only happen with the presence of toxic ingredients. The presence of skin (scalp) irritants also plays a significant role. Start looking at the labels of the brands with lawsuits closer and see what ingredients they have in common then look those ingredients up. What I know for sure is the discovery phase of lawsuits includes public sources like all the videos and the comments under them and this is where the truth resides and there are thousands of affected people sharing their experiences. I stopped using and recommending Mielle products to my clients in 2019 when I noticed harmful ingredients creeping in to the products. May we all be safe out here because Mielle & P&G are just the most recent and far from the only ones. Godspeed!

I became aware of the issues with Miele a few short months ago, on this channel. I am glad I did. I tried the Rosemary Mielle a couple years ago. I was surprised at all the hype about the hair care line. My hair was dry and tangled, just like the lady’s hair in the video; my hair is shorter. I was so disappointed and concerned because my hair is colored. Over a lot of time, I ended up mixing the remaining Mielle products with other products on my hair, and used it to wash my hairbrushes, combs, satin cap etc., so it wouldn’t be a total loss. I kept the bottle the oil came in, but I use it to mix my own concoctions. I just remembered, I tried the regular Mielle before the Rosemary, maybe a few years prior, and had a similar, but a little better result. My hair is medium length, 4C, and colored with a rinse. The product that I am currently using works wonders on my hair type, and I’m glad I found it. Perhaps my hair texture was just not conducive to Mielle’s ingredients/brand. Actually, in the past, store bought products yielded better results than Mielle, for me. Thanks so much, KK for staying on top of this saga. BTW, I don’t believe this case will see the light of a trial. Monique and Mielle’s current owners DO NOT want that deposition smoke. BUT, I could be wrong… Reciprocally, I would enjoy eating popcorn and sipping tea, watching you editorialize every detail.☺️ Keep up the great work, KK!

I think what bothers me about this is how Monique and her husband are treating people who don't like the products. (I'm only on YT so I didn't know about that until recently) I get that no one wants their brand to be disparaged, but anyone who develops a products has to accept the fact that no product is truly all inclusive. Some people aren't going to like it or it won't work for some. With my hair issues, being that it is the only product that I've used (and I've tried a plethora) that is the least offensive on my hair, I probably will continue to use, but the way she and her husband responded to negative reviews leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Some people don't read labels and instructions, others misuse things. Overuse can have adverse effects. Some of the products might not have been stored by the distributers at the proper temperature causing the product to develop mold. Mielle needs to investigate where those people who claim damage purchased their products. Some people might have purchased dupes. I have suspected some of my hair products from amazon to be dupes. I have even purchased tried and true products from Target that damaged my hair. One particular product from Target which went on sale for a very cheap price, dried my hair out causing severe breakage, this is what sent me natural. My stylist said, the product went on sale because Target had them sitting in their hot warehouse probably for years way beyond their reccommended shelf life. If products are not stored at the appropriate temperature for extended periods of time, it can cause chemical changes in the formula. Mielle should investigate this issue with their distributors and retailors and not disregard customer complaints.

This is very interesting. It made me smile. I agree, one does not lead to the next because the original influencer was lying, doesn't mean everyone is lying. Well, it is clear what the legal strategy is to discredit the source, which would cast doubt on the claim's legitimacy. Now, all that would have lumped themselves in this falsely will drop out, and those that are legit some would decide they do not want to go any further because of the lie. Of course, some will still go through with their case, but the strength will be diminished without a large number of claimants. Therefore, pushing forward will take a lot of work, making it time-consuming and costly. P&G and Mielle have deep pockets that can prolong this matter in court using the original lie as cause for dismissal, and the case may die a slow death if those remaining can't prove their individual claims are valid. Very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Mielle sold their brand to Proctor and Gamble the same as Carol's Daughter. When this happened, I believe P & G added ingredients to stretch the product and whatever that was it is caused hair loss. I've been using Mielle's since 2018 and I NEVER had a problem with hair loss but I did stop using it once people started to complain. I heard great reviews on Cecred brand. I will order the trial size and see how that goes because I need the extra moisture in my hair in the winter.

Thank you for your thoughts on this catastrophe. Regarding defamation lawsuits and going public as far as I can recall what your saying is true unless P&G and/or Mielle enters into a settlement with the offenders. In that case there’s a clause of non disclosure in the agreement and it would never be made public. We as the public would never know. This is often the case with high profile lawsuits. I stopped using Mielle products years ago because the fragrances were too strong and gave me migraines. But in the meantime my daughter started using the products in the green bottle. She was away at school and her scalp became very inflamed and her hair started to fall out in clumps. She has eczema and her scalp was oozing from what I say are scalp burns. And it affected her skin on her face and down her ears and neck. But I hadn’t heard about the controversy at this point. I asked her what products she had been using, so I looked into it AFTER this happened to my daughter and saw all things going on. I immediately told her to throw all the products out from Mielle. I never thought to take pictures because I felt like there wouldn’t be a way for me to prove it was those products. But I’ve been natural since 2008 and know how to evaluate products without the mass hysteria of what social media says is good or bad. I used a very popular gel for years that others raved about and I used to love…but I noticed my scalp and neck started to burn and broke out in red bumps when I used it one day. I also noticed the smell changed. I was sad about it but threw the gel out. I haven’t used it anymore. I didn’t say anything about it until I went to a natural hair stylist and told her my experience. She confirmed to me that it wasn’t my imagination because she also had a reaction to that popular gel and told me the ingredient that changed was a preservative. I have since learned that ‘fragrance’ can be used to hide a multitude of dangerous chemicals in products. So anytime I get a reaction from a product I stop using it right away. It really doesn’t matter if it claims to be ‘natural’ or not.

Going natural from relaxed is such a big, emotional experience… and the beauty industry noticed it because we spend more on hair products than any other race. I think a lot of hair care lines jumped on the bandwagon the minute somebody read about curlygirl method/greenhouse method/LOC/etc. Every company in the drugstore from Pantene to Head and Shoulders took a stab at getting a piece of the pie back in the early 2010s. Conversely, brands who already catered to us started wanting straight hair money🤷🏽♀️ Sometimes I wonder if we might all be better off by making our own hair products; the women whipping up shea butter and chebe don’t have to worry about companies compromising their hair health for money 🤔

There were people making videos about hair loss with Mielle back in 2023. I tried the oil throughout my scalp, ends and on the edges but was using it daily from late 2022 to 2023. I had shedding throughout my hair and my edges that I bought the oil for shed even more. I stopped using it when I saw a video on YT about it. Since then my edges grow, but only to a certain point. It’s not just the extreme edges but the perimeter hair that was affected. Growth became stunted only growing so much then stopping, growth was thin, and extremely slow. Note that the rest of my hair has recovered, but it took a year to get rid of the split ends because they traveled up the shaft. The edges are growing but stunted. I wear mini twists so was using the oil on the twists, my scalp, edges, and 360 perimeter. Not all hair products are for everyone’s hair. 😞

Good morning and thank you for sharing this. I hope you are able to fully recover. Yes, every product does not work for any and everyone, however; Monique needs to be okay with that.

I have not had any issues with the product. But I don't use the Rosemary Mint line. I am keeping a close eye on how my hair behaves, and if I see any issues, I will discontinue use of their products. I am still rooting for Monique, and I hope she's taking this seriously.

And that is perfectly fine! I also think that for the people that the products worked for they should not be harassed. Like you said you will keep an eye on your hair.

I genuinely wonder how many people speaking out in support of her are actively using the products.

I recently learned about the Rosemary Mint issue; however, prior to now I've noticed my hair was super crunchy and toasty...like baked toast, after washing, conditioning, and heavy moisturizing. I'm sorry this has happened to Monique, but from the timeline, this issues existed before now. I threw all my Mielle products out, but considered getting a daily moisturizer by Mielle 3 weeks ago. A worker in the hair store saw me picking up the product and yelled, "If that's Mielle, put it down!" And that's when I really started to look into this lawsuit.

I stand behind my experience and I stopped using it before it surfaced as a public issue.

It can’t be rumors because for two weeks before I saw any video on it I kept telling my sister that something’s wrong with my hair like I can’t get my hair back to. It’s soft texture and then it was just shedding and shedding and shedding and I cry myself on the fact that I take care of my natural hair these last two years and it doesn’t shedso I don’t care about some famous TikTok or what she says. I care about my hair falling out just like everybody else I’m sure.

I remember Linda Lynn's video. I bought the rosemary mint line and after seeing videos of people saying that it dried and matted their hair i didn't try it.

The worst part of my hair breaking off is that it did in places that are impossible to hide. I have to wait probably yrs for it to recover and then do a cut to match it with the rest. That's not a "sabotage" my hair is messed up now.

I am a woman that pays attention to my body and what I put in it or on it. So I notice when something is off, I tried their leave in conditioner one time my hair became hard and brittle. I stopped using their brand immediately.

Before I purchased that product and this was the right before the beginning of last year my hair was 3 inches from my waist. I have pictures and videos up to five years before I used her products. My hair was falling out from the follicles and I had to start wearing wigs. I started taking pictures and videos because I didn't know what was wrong. I went for 2 consultations at different locations, I I found a beautician. 😢I also posted my breakage on fb because i was so confused. It took me over 6 months to stop the fall out after using many treatments, deep conditioning, new shampoo and conditioner, protein mask, homemade mask, using leave in conditioners, and aphuge and not touching the hair at all I saved all of my hair that fell out from the folicals. Then i saw this it hurt me.
