As a Brit, I think this house is pretty spot on. Not that many people have separate utility rooms for washer and dryer, it's more common in the UK for people to have them in the kitchen. Unless you have a bigger house. Also correct, not that many people have driers either. Glad to see you didn't raise the house and have steps to the front door too cos that's really uncommon in the UK. Particularly where I live (Cambridge). With the UK only being a small country we don't have huge amounts of land so houses tend to have very modest gardens i think this is probably about the right size for a three bed home, maybe a little bigger than the norm.

The washer, or as we Brits call it, the washing machine, normally goes underneath the counter like a dishwasher would. Every home with outdoor space is sold with a washing line in the ground outside, but if the owners want a dryer, or we call it a tumble dryer, it would go in some sort of utility room.
@gabbywillis9746

Probably the best British home I’ve seen by an American who’s not been here. If a three bed has a small downstairs toilet/WC it will only have one family bathroom upstairs, and it’s very rare to have a bedroom downstairs in the UK. The exterior looks very late 90s/00s but the interior is a bit more old fashioned. Great effort!

as a british person i think this build is pretty much spot on, in the area where i am most people have a utility room where the washer and dryer are but if not it goes in the kitchen, the little cupboard under the stairs is mostly used for shoes and sometimes even coats if you have a tall enough one, but we call ours a shoe cupboard. This build is really good also 💚

I was super excited for this build being British myself!! I think it’s quite accurate for an older/traditional houses, most people knock out fireplaces that were there before now which is a shame:( I think that’s always the biggest surprise for people that we have washing machines in the kitchen 😂😂 Generally under the stair space is just storage, very common in older built homes, new homes are super modern now :( Ps. I love the radiators everywhere, super accurate 😂😂😂

pretty accurate and so cute. the cramped living room and kitchen is also actually pretty spot on. The small door under the stairs us usually where the Gas Meter and the Electric (lecky) meter is kept. you typically get on your knees to top up the gas and lecky meter......we do typically have a hall way though so the line of where the stirs meats the living room is normally a wall and yes you'd normally go through the living room to get to the kitchen .x x x

Honestly this is pretty accurate - and super cute!! You’re right about the dryers, they’re not totally uncommon but a lot of people would have a dishwasher instead. Also they’re almost never stacked like they are in the US, they would be under the kitchen counters. And you’re right about the radiators but they’re not an old thing - that’s how almost all homes (even brand new) are heated in the UK. We have gas central heating and radiators in every room. But you did such a good job and I love this!

This is actually insanely accurate so mad props to you for that! We typically don’t have bedrooms downstairs but I understand your reasoning behind that, and we do have radiators in every single room. Actually few people I know have doors underneath their stairs, and mine leads to a basement but it’s usually just some extra storage. The claustrophobic feeling in every room is a feeling I’m sure every Brit has experienced, there is always that one room in the house that is way too small for the furniture put inside so that is spot on too. And yes we do put our washing machines and tumble dryers in our kitchen, usually under a counter like the dishwasher but that isn’t an option in the sims as far as I’m aware, I don’t have laundry day so... and we do normally have poles sticking out of the floor of our very small gardens where we put our washing to dry if it can’t go in the tumble, or racks around the house for that use. Great build!

It's nice to see a British-inspired house, and it looks really good! As a few people in the comments have said, the washing machine is normally in the kitchen under a counter top. One thing I would say is I think I would have had carpet in all the bedrooms/ hallways/ living room! Carpet is definitely the most common floor covering here in the UK! And also, the hallway leading from the front door to the stairs is often pretty narrow and has doors leading to the living room/ kitchen etc - not quite so open plan (ie leading straight into the living room). Another thing is that en-suite bathrooms are quite rare in my experience (especially in older houses) - there's normally a family bathroom to share!
@abiwalker5785
@abiwalker5785 3 жыл бұрын
As yet another person from the UK, this is fairly accurate! I'm from outer London, so the garden is definitely bigger than what you'd typically find around here. Small kitchen and living rooms are pretty common, but rather than a garage or downstairs bedroom, you'd find a dining room. Given the fairly frequent damp weather, most people I know have a tumble dryer or a heated airer/tidy dry inside the house as well as the standard washing line outside. I noticed someone else say they don't really have steps leading up to the front door where they are in the UK - most houses around my area have steps leading up to either an enclosed or open porch! Just goes to show that it's tricky to get everything completely accurate, but you've done an amazing job!
@owenlaw4842

I love in the uk and my washing machine is a 2 in 1 washer/dryer, which isn’t super common. It’s in the kitchen under the counter next to the sink. Because I live in a Victorian house, putting the washer in means we didn’t have any room for a freezer, and so now that lives behind the door under the stairs! In these 150 year old homes you have to do what you can with modern appliances!
@LadySmitan

Late to the video as I only found your channel yesterday! Loving all your builds, I've started binge watching them. Great job, a lot of the comments have said already about the washing machines in the kitchen, not all homes have tumble dryers. Even modern homes have radiators unless you're rich enough for under floor heating, they just don't look as cool as the old fashioned ones. Most 3 bedroom homes would have a closed off hall down stairs, most homes are closed off floor plans because they would've used fire places to heat them in the winter and it's faster and more fuel efficient to heat smaller spaces. A second small half bath if you're lucky, bedrooms very uncommon on the ground floor, garages are popular in new builds and builds from the 20s onwards as cars became more accessible to families, but you'll often see people have converted them into a liveable space, such as a larger kitchen, second living room etc. A lot of our houses are Victorian or older and in industrial areas they tried to cram in as many people as possible hence terraced homes and tiny yards. Yards would've originally been for outhosues, food storage, and drying clothes the odd time there is sun in the UK. The older houses were never really designed for cosy family life, we've just adapted them over the years. My under stairs cupboard is where the gas and electric meters are and a hatch in the floor for accessing the mains to each, we also store mop, broom, vacuum etc there. Building the average British home is not easy in the sims you did a fantastic jobs, especially for someone who's never visited. Sorry for the essay I was just excited to see a british build!

We have our Washer and dryer in the kitchen. They are underneath the counter top actually. We just let the counter top continue over it! 😊 It's really handy. I don't know about the UK especially. But in the Netherlands, in houses, they often found in the (what amaricans call) the pantry or Mudroom. Sometimes the Kitchen or main Bathroom. Or even kn the landing of the Attic! 😁 And in apartments they are most often found in the bathrooms. 🙃 We're mixed match'ed like that, I guess. It really just depends on what owner prefers for themselves. And thr door underneath the stairs are often where you find the vacuum. Some food storage. We store our airfryer there too. Our dog's food. The mop and stuff.

With dryers in UK homes, it really depends on the time period / type of home. My nans house never had a dryer until we installed one, and we had a space for a washing line. But both of my other childhood homes, had a dryer. However one of them had them in the bedroom, because it was a flat and we had limited space. But again it depends on the house, most houses now days do have them through

Love this house as I’m from Britain! I would say in suburban homes washing machines are probably in the kitchen, but in london terraced houses (which are the ones in a long row lol) the washing machine and dryer are often in the downstairs loo! As someone previously commented that area under the stairs can be for shoes and coats, but depending on the area you live in that area actually has a 'meter unit' (in the older houses) where you would top up your electric and gas. But like 95% of the time that area is just used for storage, just dump shit in there cus you got no where else to put it xD

Love the build, the only thing is us Brits don't have those mail boxes, our post comes through the letterbox in the front door. (though I know this was added because the Sims obviously need it in game)

That kitchen is so cluttered, I'd be surprised if a sim would be able to step a foot in there. lol. cute house though
