Disclaimer These are my thoughts and opinions dont get mad. Whites redemption was too quick IMO. It felt like Steven just talked to her and sad hey "you dont want to be bad so dont be bad" and WD responded by saying "ok" that's just how it felt and future felt very inconsistent the young steven was more wise then 17 year old steven It was just weird. Steven universe the movie had in the first 5 mins a song titled "happy ever after" good song but in the lyric pearl says she has moved on and isnt as connected to Rose/Pink diamond because she's in the future now. Then later in the show on episode 4 of S U F they just I guess forgot about well everything.

@@Justvibing5831 Yeah, too quick. One remark, and she just breaks. What I wish, if they were going that way, would have been an empathic, connecting response rather than a cutting comeback. It's as if he was reverting back to the Steven in the pilot, jettisoning all the character development in between. Maybe read M. Rosenberg's "Nonviolent Communication", train with those folks, and write from that perspective. But that's me projecting my values onto Steven. He's just not the perfect little Ghandi I want him to be. Since that was my headspace when I watched originally, can you imagine what a shock pink Steven was to me? And then what happened in Future? I went through a lot of emotional turmoil, and shed some tears. It was not a fun time, watching Future.

Su Future was always meant to be one season so for clarification it wasn’t canceled or any of that haha. As an epilogue series it was meant to tie up loose ends that the crew didn’t have time to do during Su while also including other stuff. P.s. I can’t wait to watch your later reactions!!

Future wasn’t meant to exist. It’s the other twenty episodes of Season 6, but Cartoon Network didn’t order them until after the show and movie had been finished and rewritten to end six episodes after Reunited. It’s still pretty good for what it is, and for an absolute mess written up completely out of nowhere it manages to be pretty well plotted, entertaining, and give a decent amount of lore reveals we were looking for. It just isn’t the meticulously planned out satisfying season 6 we could have had.

Seeing how everything affected him has been awaited for a long time.

So the way it worked is Rebecca Sugar pitched Reunited to Cartoon Network around the time Season 2 finished airing. Cartoon Network had renewed Steven through 5 seasons, and said, “if you show a gay marriage, international funding will be cut, and we won’t renew the show for season 6.” They negotiated, and the compromise was six extra episodes after Reunited to wrap up the show. However, during this time the show was continuing to get more and more popular. Cartoon Network released merchandise and it got bought SO fast. Everyone was taking it for granted that the show would keep going. And the creator, Rebecca Sugar, was, during all of this, lobbying for a movie to wrap things up. So Cartoon Network went ahead and gave her the movie on the condition that she make the other twenty episodes of season six. But by that time Season 5 had already been changed, Change Your Mind had already been written, and Steven Universe was over. So now Rebecca had to write a new, tightly plotted show that takes place after the movie, and because it’s an epilogue series, it can’t explore half of the ideas that were supposed to be explored in Season 6 because they already rushed through them in Diamond Days. No Lars and the Off Colors adventuring through space and robbing Homeworld colonies, no scenes of the Diamonds learning to enjoy Earth and open up before they get right to finding the legship and looking for Homeworld. No deep diving into White’s psyche and how she believes that all Gems are just an extension of herself, so they can never do or be anything except what she wants them to be, and if they try to be something else she has a psychotic episode and mind controls them. All this stuff that they just couldn’t do or only hint at because CN wasn’t willing to take a chance...

It’s worth noting a specific shot in Change Your Mind: When the gems land in White’s Head, they all fall and Steven lands on his feet. In Serious Steven, (Episode 8 of season 1 I think) when they go into the inverted pyramid at the strawberry battlefield, they all fall in the EXACT same way except Steven doesn’t land the fall. Guess that goes to show how much he’s grown.

Fusion are a represention of relationship's sometimes love and sometimes friendship, and in some specific cases sex, and Peridot and Lapis are both representation of Asexual people, Lapis pass through a rough time with Jasper so she doesn't want to fuse anymore, and Peridot, she just don't want to. They could still have a relationship but with no fusion. * I wish this was more clear in the series, and the creators didn't have to come and explain by Twitter

re: Future - it was only ever supposed to be a one-season epilogue. I think Cartoon Network approved the season but Sugar had no intention to drag out the season when this was clearly the conclusion. Future was a different type of closure. Anyway, there was something about how Rebecca Sugar would like to revisit that world at some point, but for now, it's time to let them all live their lives, herself included.

I’m glad you finished Steven Universe! And yeah, for some things, I wish they could’ve been done a little more time, like the diamonds eventually wanting to help Steven. I know that you want lapis and peridot to fuse, and in my opinion, this isn't really much of a spoiler since this was confirmed off screen, but it's confirmed that peridot is asexual and aromantic.
