A common mistake that artists do is not listening to constructive criticism 👍 But often times it's really hard to find constructive ones 😅
@mexicanopdb2 ай бұрын
Very true, I follow many small artists and most of the "criticism" they get is just insults
@mir0h27142 ай бұрын
The problem when it comes to constructive criticism is it actually being criticism. A lot of people insult the artist, or use backhanded comments as their response of “criticism”. This is why a lot of artists don’t like constructive critique and it’s because of how people say it.
@Anonnymouss-nu6uv2 ай бұрын
@@mir0h27144chan’s /ic/ is fucking horrible with that. It’s not “infested with crabs” without reason.
@ponchopyro33142 ай бұрын
@@mir0h2714 That's not constructive; constructive criticism implies there is a solution and that it is given from someone genuinely trying to help. There is also an appropriate setting for it and rarely are random comments that setting.
@mir0h27142 ай бұрын
@@ponchopyro3314 I understand, it’s just that normally people use “constructive criticism” as an excuse to express their negative opinions on an art piece. Thus leading to artists ignoring suggested feedback from genuinely helpful people.

No wonder why the heads I draw look like doritos lol😂
@NotSoMax2 ай бұрын
I draw 2 circles, since head isn’t perfectly spherical, it also helps with better showing the depth and shape in perspective. Plus it really easily makes the shape of the eye socket and temporal bone
@RoxyLoxy2 ай бұрын
where do you put those two circles ? :0

Yes I would like to know too@@RoxyLoxy
@NotSoMax2 ай бұрын
They overlap each other, I guess it’s hard to explain since I don’t do tutorials, and it changes depending on the perspective you’re viewing it from. If you look at a skull from the side you might get a better idea of what I’m talking about, but the back sphere defines the parietal and occipital plates and the front sphere kinda traces the frontal plate and the zygomatic process. The specifics are less important imo than the idea that you find simple shapes your comfortable doing that help with your guidelines. I used to have to draw basically the entire underlying structure/skeleton to draw a half decent picture but as I’ve worked on improving my 2D skills I’ve found shortcuts that work for me. Find the simples shapes that work for you but still define the form and eventually you’ll be able to simplify your construction even more until you can just draw without needing them (this takes years tho so don’t rush to not using construction lines)

This is apparent when using the Loomis method as one of the steps of that method is drawing the circle then chopping off the sides

The second you told me drawing the jaw from the edges is wrong, and seeing the perspective, I immediately knew what I was doing wrong 💀

The loomis method also has a similar step where you literally shave about 1/5 of the circle off from each side. This step applies to all angles except 90 degree/side views
