I remember sitting in my college dorm room hungover from a wild Saturday night LOSING MY MIND when Pittsburgh blew this game... I probably should broke my toes the way I was kicking things. No team causes mental anguish like the Tomlin Era Steelers. Play up to the competition & put on classic games against the best while stinking up the joint with collapse after collapse against the worst. The 1976-1977 Bucs & 2008 Lions would've taken the Tomlin Steelers to the final possession. Hell the 0-16 Browns took Pittsburgh to the final possession on the last game of the year... If Corey Coleman's hands weren't for decoration they probably win that game!! It's absolutely gut-wrenching being a Steelers fan nowadays!

@@SmugTomato I cannot say he's overrated, he's an underachiever for sure. But he has done his best to get the job done... Things just fail to go in his favor at the worst times (December & the Postseason) 2014- Bell hurt in Week 17 2015-. Bell torn ACL, Williams Out for playoffs & Brown out for divisional round 2016- Bell hurts his groin & the defense gets TORCHED 2017- Shazier goes down & the defense falls apart 2018- Bell holds out, Ben goes crazy, Boswell's foot contracts Alzheimers & AB transitions into a woman... 2019 is really a fresh year where it's ALL ON HIM... He's DEFINITELY played a role in the collapse of the teams over the course of the last 5 seasons but I wouldn't say it was primarily him; nonetheless he's in his final days now & his back is up against the wall. Very similar to Coach Cowher in failing in crucial moments.

The Steelers from 2013-2018 will always be a mystery to me. So much talent and yet they could never seem to put it together. Fun fact: Of their 5 losses in the season this game took place in (2014-15), 4 came from teams with losing records. This turned out to be a very common trend for Pittsburgh during this era.
@jackmeoff53875 жыл бұрын
well how their coach still has a job is beyond me? No bigger idiot out there than Tomlin.
@SmugTomato5 жыл бұрын
@@jackmeoff5387 The Steelers have a tendency to be extremely loyal to head coaches, even when they overstay their welcome. That's why they haven't actually _fired_ one since Bill Austin in 1968, _51 years ago_ . I'm not certain on the numbers, but that has to be an NFL record for longest period without firing a head coach.
@jackmeoff53875 жыл бұрын
@@SmugTomato well just like you say they have as much talent as the Patriots, even as good or better. Difference being Bellichek can get the most out of his talent where as Tomlin can't seem to get. Tomlin never takes blame for anything. He just diverts the blame elsewhere. Every year they seem to underachieve. That's on the coach. I can write a book here criticizing Tomlin. It just seems year in and year out they underachieve and that's on him.
@SmugTomato5 жыл бұрын
@@jackmeoff5387 I totally agree with you. I used to be a pretty big defender of Tomlin, but after the way 2017 ended, and especially after last season, it's become very obvious that he's an incompetent coach. In my honest opinion, he reminds me of Marvin Lewis with a Super Bowl ring. No control of his team, no discipline, and they always underperform when it matters.
@jackmeoff53875 жыл бұрын
@@SmugTomato Well if you look at that playoff loss at home to Jacksonville 2 seasons a go need I say much more? His defence gave up 45 points and got shredded 500 plus yards against a Blake Bortles led quarterback?!?!? Your offensive co-ordinator(Todd Haley) puts up 42 points for you and you fire him instead of the defensive co-ordinator? Like WTF? Where was the defence on that day? His defensive co-ordinator should have bit the dust instead but it is one of his Arkansas coach buddies he has. Like you state his teams are probably the best talented in the AFC. Even has better talent than New England. But year in and year out they always seem to underachieve. Then how the heck does he lose to Oakland last season virtually eliminating them from the playoffs. That's bad enough. He should have been fired a few years a go already. Peace, out.
