CarAudioFabrication I have a question i have sent multiple e-mails to you wanting to purchase a box design and gave all the info that is needed, and so far i haven't received any kind of response from you !!! please if your not interested in selling any of your product's just let me know and i will move on!!! I know you do some of the best work (box design's) and would be honored to be able to have one , Thank you

LOVE your channel! It's the best how to on KZbin IMO, and I watch a LOT. That being said, can I please send you a magnetic ratcheting screwdriver and magnetic tray as a thank you? It kills me to watch efficient master fabricators using slow old screwdrivers. Thanks again!

Excellent idea for the silver or aluminum trim, nice contrast and about the first question, the one about "project working music" ; nothing beats 80's music; Pop, Rock, Dance (mixes or regular play) and even Heavy Metal 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

yup do it! it would look really cool with the silver trim piece. however i love the way the vinyl grain you use in the perimeter look. it matches the vehicle so well. i would use it on the inside if you can.

Looks good so far Mark.I have to agree with u painting a trim ring as close to that silver color as u can get it,would definately make the amp rack pop and as u also mentioned help to hide the transition.

This channel deserves way more subs! This content is worth charging money for =) I made custom fiberglass doors to fit some 8inch speakers and tweeters but I was too afraid of wrapping them, so I sprayed them with raptor, my next set will be perfect and Ill wrap it with wellwood adhesive =) oh well at least it's functional
@jasonshaw567 жыл бұрын
Mark, I love what you doing on the Jeep. Thanks for the walk through. As far as what to do with the transition. You already have a whole bunch going on there with the two different textures of vinyl the metal mesh and the acrylic. I fear that adding a painted trim piece would create a much busier look than what you're going for.I feel the better alternative would be to go ahead and pull the vinyl on the outer part you already have done and wrap the whole thing with the four way stretch vinyl.
@SwordLords12347 жыл бұрын
I really like the part of the video where you did not have a fully refined and edited tutorial. Just hearing your thought process and doing a more... fabricate with mark instead of a fabrication by mark was a nice change.

if you can strip back the adhesive, I'd consider a different treatment on that area (flockiing, SEM spray texture and automotive paint, flat or satin automotive paint, etc.) I think it's going to be very hard to get a good hidden seam where the vinyl transitions between pieces and I think a different black vinyl may not look very good right next to vinyl you've done. I might also consider going with a contrasting color. This hiccup is really an opportunity to add more interest to this very cool install. Thanks for sharing the bad with the good. Any custom project can go a little sideways. It's how you roll with it that makes a great installer!

Not sure if it'll be of any help, but there's a trick with wrapping vinyls like the ones used to wrap entire cars that may carry over to these thicker materials: Rather than applying your flat areas and stretching/heat-stretching to conform to various contours, start in the most difficult contour(s) and work your way out. That way there's an abundance of material in the complicated area, and you can heat-shrink the corners and edges where it transitions into the flat spots. It's sort of completely backwards from what we get taught, but I've had a lot of success with it, especially when wrapping small, oddly-shaped interior trim pieces. :]

Hey bro , I do upholstery full time , since you’re not big on the upholstery I don’t see a need for the weld wood , pick up a bottle of 202 marine k grip , dries faster , less flammable , all around last longer and way more user friendly no mask or anything required . Nobody seems to know about this glue and they end up using weld wood which works good but it goes like water

I come from an audio and auto upholstery background.... (now I am an x ray tech...but I still do some things from time to time. What I would say is that if your 4 way stretch material is that stretchy.....it may be the first thing to pull away from the corners where your (now new line is)...that being said...if you wanted to add some trim over the material to keep the new stuff down....that would be helpful and it would help set the car off. Years ago we had a car come in the shop that I made a pattern from what was there....it was a fancy LeBaron Chrysler....with the 2 seater only and stitched leather dash with deep inserts for the defroster for the windshield... you may be seeing where I'm going with this. With deep contoured panels...sometimes it isn't such a bad thing to run it under a seeing machine and actually have the material comfortable where it will be instead of having to heat it and stretch it and hope that with the time that folks keep their cars....that it stays. Sometimes even the best glues can still not be perfect when the cars are not garage kept or someone leave a window down or what have ya'. I love your channel and your ability to show how ya' do things. Keep up the good work! If ya' don't have a sewing machine....I'm sorry for a suggestion that would be a bit undoable at present moment.

Music: Good old Rock and Roll, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Soul Music, depends on what sort of project i am working on. Tip: Have you ever tried wrinkle paint? This gives a very nice rough structure to panels. Good explanations, gonna build some panels in my '56 chevy so looking at every process here.

like many others have said go with a different material or color to give it some contrast... also there are some very thin trim strips you can get for woodworking that would make a good trim painted silver
@b1pig7 жыл бұрын
If I had to change the vinyl to a different type, I'd go with another color. The interior of many cars have more than one color on the interior. My '07 Wrangler is black and medium gray. If there was a secondary color in there, I'd definitely consider trying to match it. The silver trim sounds like a good idea no matter what you end up with.

I think that you should definitely go with a trim ring. I would love To see it made of steel, so you could install it with some magnets and cover the edge of the insert material as well. My choice would be to get the trim powder coated body color, and have the insert material the same as the accent colors up front. I guess you could make the trim ring gloss black and go with a grey or black suede as well. I've gotta admit that lately I've been blaring obnoxious Y2K Krunk Rap. Feeling nostalgic of my school years I guess lol Whatever you do will be awesome Mark!
@johng54177 жыл бұрын
A silver or chrome trim was exactly what I would do. You sure you don't want to make the center a different color? Like a dark grey or something. I think the two darker but different colors with the silver trim would be sick! Great vid.

Do you notice a difference in the ability to stretch the vinyl around complex shapes when brushing vs spraying contact adhesive? In my experience, brushing makes a much thicker application and is more difficult to stretch the upholstery material.

I think it would be amazing to have that silver trim ring. However, I'm just curious how it's going to turn out in the places that it is thin. Either way you go it'll look amazing because if it's still all black with no silver trim ring, it still matches the back of the car being all black.
@charlesdsouthwick96387 жыл бұрын
I would go for the trim ring as a transitional piece, I like the suede suggestions but what about adding a ring to the inside of the drops that would accentuate the depth and lighting?

Hey Mark - at the ~8 min mark when you pulled up the vinyl, did you have to clean off the previous contact adhesive before applying the 4 way stretch vinyl? I just ran into a similar issue on a project, and I am not sure if I can "re-activate" the contact adhesive that's left on my MDF by applying more adhesive on top of the old stuff? Thanks for all the great videos and inspirations!

Hey why don’t u use a heat gun???? I do upholstery at legacy innovations and find your videos helpful on certain things But anyway I work with vinyl all the time and heat is your best friend when it comes to wrapping pieces it helps the material stretch more also while working with leather use heat to remove wrinkles and Teflon is a great thing to use when smoothing piece out it didn’t scratch materials u can buy it in sheets and make your own tools
