Another great video! I usually do the hoho bus (hop on hop off) when I travel so that I get all the tourist spots done in one day. I also get to see other areas that I might want to go back to. Definitely not as personal as an individual tour, but it gets the job done! I used a different company for my esim this summer as I was traveling for 3 months. The difference from the one you recommended was that the one I used had unlimited data - a consideration on a long vacation. I found that re: crowds, in June things were still easily accessible. By August everything was packed with people. The trick is always to go when places first open. Thanks again for your videos - they're spot-on, unlike other vloggers ;) And I'm wondering where these people who say Istanbul isn't affordable are coming from! It was the most affordable country I've traveled to.

I’ve recently visited Istanbul to pass the IELTS exam, and it was my biggest mistake that I didn’t learn any Turkish words 😅 I got lost after arriving from Istanbul airport to the city by metro just because my Internet connection died and I couldn’t check the right location of the bus stop I needed 😅 I got on the wrong bus, but then got off and I tried to ask policemen, who were there, how can I get to the place that I need, and they couldn’t even answer me 😂 It was really confusing, but one man helped me, although I was not sure whether to believe him or not - it was almost night and my first trip alone) Fortunately, it ended well! 🎉 But I got a life-lesson in my 19yo

We are doing a 14 day cruise starting at Istanbul on the Viking Sky on November 14 this year. There is a complementary shore excursion at each port. What would be the best shore excursion to do in Istanbul? The ship will stop at other parts of Turkey and there will be a complimentary shore excursion at each stop. Any useful suggestion would be welcome. Thanks.

Wanted to see if you can advise us what hotel to stay in for 2 nights on a medium budget and comfortable. We want to take advantage of the only day we will be there and would want to do the most possible like going to the Grand Bazaar and other places if possible. Taking the metro from taksim to istanbul airport is the biggest mistake I made. Took me close to 90min and quite a bit of walking. Should have used the Havaist.
@BeryIstanbulTips
@BeryIstanbulTips 5 ай бұрын
Yessss! Agree! That metro line tbh is not convenient at all, that’s why I haven’t made a video on it because is difficult for foreigners still especially when thinking that they need to exchange several times and if you’re carrying luggage is even more difficult. Even the metro station is not connecting directly to the terminal, there some walking still. Way better the Havaist. Direct bus to Taksim from the airport and vice versa.

I was here for Ramadan this March-April and no one prepared me for Eid. Ramadan itself was fine, and if you are not Muslim, it is really cool to experience in a predominately Muslim country. The first few days (two to three) a lot of shops are closed, so this is something to be aware of as it can catch you off guard. I was, can we say hello McDonalds? LOL Eid, however, was an experience that I was grossly unprepared for. I was unaware that all public transportation was free during that time period. So why does this matter? Because it feels like all 16M residents of Istanbul are all taking public transportation at the same time. I do not recommend going anywhere other than on foot for those two days, if you can, as there are just people everywhere. One thing is for sure, you will get stuck in traffic or a sea of people, probably both, if you try to venture out, even on foot. Had I known all of this, I would have stayed in Antalya a couple of more days before coming back to Istanbul (who doesn't love extra beach days?). Ramadan is amazing to experience, but just be prepared for Eid.
@BeryIstanbulTips
@BeryIstanbulTips 5 ай бұрын
I guess you didn’t watched our video about Ramadan 😄 Also in many other videos we have mentioned that in some holidays especially ramadan last days, Eid (sacrifice) and others public transportation is free for us as citizens and residents and is horrendous being out since all public transportation is a chaos, I always tell my audience to keep an eye on those days if they have planned a trip here 😀

In a city like Istanbul, Antalya, or even Izmir, people won’t mind tbh. Living here for almost a decade as a non-muslim and never had an issue eating out, drinking water outside, etc. people understand that not everybody fasts, people are just minding their business. However, in smaller provinces you could receive some stares.

@ericatorrez4122
@ericatorrez4122 5 ай бұрын
Grand Bazaar area, she mentions this in another video. I however just pull Lira from the ATM. Don't select the conversion rate option, let you bank do it for you (they give you the better rate without charging you a fee). Thankfully my bank refunds all ATM fees and is travel friendly, so this is what I do instead of exchanging money

I mean, they won’t understand 100%! But if you talk to them with easy words and slower, there’s a better chance for them to understand at least the main idea. Yes, English is taught here, but that doesn’t mean that’s enough for them to feel confident when speaking to foreigners.

@BeryIstanbulTips
@BeryIstanbulTips 5 ай бұрын
How about people being less ignorant and learn some basic manners when traveling to other countries that are NOT THEIRS? No one said “stop breathing”, these are just basic manners that any person with common sense would understand like TAKING THE SHOES OFF BEFORE STEPPING ON A CARPET INSIDE A MOSQUE! After traveling to more than 20 countries til now, I have seen horrendous behaviors from tourists like not respecting the area, places or even locals and yeah, sometimes I even want to punch them on the face. Sorry not sorry! People with this exact mentality are the ones destroying the places. If you are going to be acting like a spoilt child, pls stay home, no one wants those behaviors from strangers!
@Nkkn404
@Nkkn404 5 ай бұрын

2 years ago, I saw tourists destroying the tulip gardens in the park behind Hagia Sophia mosque and stepping on them just for a photo, it was so frustrating seeing tourists destroying such beauty. I do agree with everything mentioned in this video, if one cannot behave like a human being, is better not to go anywhere, you can mess with your house if you want but don’t do it at others, as simple as that. Your thoughts are the typical person believing that because they pay for something they are entitled to do what they want, disgusting.
