Congrats! I have been trying to talk my husband into going skydiving. He has not given in yet. We are in Kansas City so maybe that is the key. Get him to do it in Oregon!! He did just hike Half Dome in Yosemite with me for my 50th Bday. That was a lot to ask. 17 miles nearly 5000ft of elevation gain. But he did it for me. Matt you are awesome for doing it with her! I was so excited for you both you would think I was doing it to. Proud of you both. Live those dreams!

Those folks were really lucky you guys were coming down that road and no one was hurt. Now on to the beach. The Pacific Ocean waves crashing the sand , the sea and the surf. Cowabunga Dude 😮 Nothin’ like drivin’ in the sand not so much in the salty sea water tho. Can I say it...y’all had a whale of a time...thar she blows Cap’n Ahab! Hi Matt and Cara, Looks like you had a blast leaving that perfectly good aircraft. I did that in the Army out of Huey's and it was a blast until you had to land. The A10 i used was unforgiving on the landing. And you are right about not having a fear of heights at that altitude. You are so far up it just doesn't register the same way as standing on the edge of a tall building does. Plus you have a parachute! Give me a rope lease and i lose all fear of heights.

We have been full time for 1 1/2 years and do not have a home base. We typically stay at a place a month at a time and try to stay at private parks that have owners on-site. We become friends with the owners so if we need to do some maintenance that normally would not be allowed we can do it. I keep my site better than I found it. If I got in a pickle I do have family that I could park my rig but so far has not been necessary. My registered address is my parents and they mostly get junk mail. I try to buy local (parts, maintenance items, etc.) and can get items shipped to the parks I reside if needed. We have 3 kids, 2 still in college, once they determine where they will end up we will try to have a home base somewhere in the middle. So far we do not feel the need for the home base but I am sure it will a necessary down the road.

With the steep angle of the opposite hillside it was difficult to make a straight pull on the truck without using the snatch block to get the best angle. In addition I didn't feel comfortable pulling the truck out at an angle up the hill and risk it rolling. When I'm recovering someone else's vehicle I don't cut corners to do the job faster. I make sure it's done safely and effectively...which it was.

Alright Matt, I have a request for a video. I know that you have already covered how to find campsites from Gaia and other sources. But on trips such as yours with no "itinerary" over a couple of weeks, how are you finding campsites on the fly? In the video you mentioned that you would travel south until around 4:00 pm and then start looking for a campsite. Have you already located possible locations prior to the trip based on estimated travel times? Or, is it completely on the fly? I tried the "find a campground on the fly" and failed miserably. What's the secret? By the way, I always enjoy watching your videos, great job!

@OzarkOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
The recovery didn’t take 2 hours. Not even close. Just for fun I checked the time stamps on my video files - 30 minutes to recover the truck. If you were there I don’t recall you jumping in to help unless that was you giving horrible recovery advice and getting butt hurt that I did what I thought was best. Seems like we got the truck out safely which is kinda the point. And what exactly did you do to help with the recovery? Oh yeah…nothing!!! 🤦🏼♂️😂

Oh and it did. But here you are in the comments still butt hurt weeks later just making up crap like we hung out for 2 hours recovering the truck. I believe the words you're looking for are "Thank you for safely recovering that guy."

Or should I say, good job holding a button as you didn't actually do anything other than bark orders and click, stop, readjust, click, stop, readjust, repeat.... And no, no one else stepped up to do it as all their recovery gear was in their other rigs... They had the knowledge just not the tools at the time.
