BIGGEST MISTAKE SO FAR: I got my first client ever and took on a move-out clean for her 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 3100 sq ft, $1.4 million home. Fair to say it was a disaster. Zero sales experience, severely underpriced, no standard process of operations, no employees, and zero knowledge on how to use equipment. I even ran out of supplies mid-clean, all while realizing I didn't even know how to properly mop a floor. I faked it until the point that I couldn't anymore. Fair to say the client was not happy whatsoever, and rightfully so. After the 8th hour of what was supposed to be a 3-hour job, the client decided to call it quits and paid me even less than the amount I had incorrectly quoted. To be fair, based on the job I did, I didn't even feel comfortable taking that. Embarrassing? Yes. Deflated and tired? Yes. Disappointed? Of course. But I knew throwing myself into that situation would only teach me invaluable lessons moving forward-to become better and to ensure it never happens again. I realized the faster you fail, the quicker you succeed.

You all are such a great resource for me, with tons of knowledge. Thank you for the content. The biggest mistake i have made is not setting up a process to clean a specific way and dribing myself crazy going back and forth.

Biggest mistake, not walking every room on bid day. I had detailed plan of medical building, and 8 sinks were added and were not on original plan. As a result, I underbid contract. Walk was made during business hours and didn’t want to disturb docs/patients.

My biggest mistake was locking the doctor’s office door twice after sanitizing it. I was so embarrassed. I corrected this mistake by purchasing door stoppers to remind me to make sure I didn’t lock it again. I believe in the 3 strikes. Thank you so much for this valuable information!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️👍🏼👍🏼💯💯💯

Regarding systematizing chemicals and equipment, our chemicals are the same on every location, but some of the equipment is different. We utilize backpack vacuums mostly but some people cannot use the backpack for various reasons. So in some closets you'll see backpacks and sun closets. You'll see uprights. Would You still consider this being a major mistake?
@OctoCleanMedia6 ай бұрын
Definitely not a major mistake. There are plenty of upright vacuums that are commercial grade. The main reason we use backpack vacuums (battery operated) is because of their portability and maneuverability. However, if an employee is unable to use one for health reasons, but is comfortable using an upright vacuum, then that is the right choice.

Biggest mistake: not filing taxes because we had only expenses and no revenue. Turns out that you have to always file your taxes, or you will pay a penalty.

Trusting a franchise operations manager. I was a franchisee.

This was not a Octoclean franchise. I wish you can come to Ohio. Sounds like you have good coaching options that I could old have taken advantage of vs them saying they do and never get back with you at the other franchise I had.

I was sick with the flu and had to run to the bathroom, but left an upstairs mop sink running. It flooded all of upstairs, and leaked through and collapsed part of the panel roof downstairs and flooded the carpet down there as well. LONG night :((

My first account. I hired a helper to take on cleaning that location. No background check our any type of process. He repeatedly showed up shirtless or in a wifebeater. He also ended up harassing one of the female workers at the account. My worst mistake!
