Oh, my gosh! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who LOVES Vin's outburst. It is one of my favorite character scenes ever for Vin (and Kelsier to an extent). And the scene with Kelsier right after always makes me cry a little. 😭 I agree with basically all of your other rankings, too. Anything with Sazed immediately moves up to one of the top two tiers for me. 😂

Agreed. I love the way that scene starts. Just some random prisoner, it kind of caught me off gaurd, questioning if I knew this character. Then when he surfaces, I just imagine a camera panning up revealing Kelsier and the state of the prison after he was through with it. Like you don't even need to discribe it, I just believe that he blew throught that place. When he first gets back and quietly just says "I destroyed the pits" it's so sick.

Vin’s outburst is absolutely top tier for me. As for the other scenes, idk, I’d have to really sit and think about it… but that whole scene and how she is embarrassed afterwards and the way Kelsier reassures her… oh, that scene gets me every time!

It’s been over 2 years since I’ve read this series. Your video reminded me of so many good moments and why this series is simply extraordinary writing and I think my favorite book series. I love all the characters and genuinely felt a sense of loss when some of the characters died and stood up and cheered when some of the evil characters died. I’m on book 4 of the wheel of time and need a break before I got to book 5. Love the video and pretty much the ranking as you so far.

I recently finished The Final Empire and am almost halfway through Well of Ascension and tbh I agree with your rankings!!! I'm listening to Well of Ascension on the way to uni and my jaw dropped during certain moments!!!! The last quarter of this book is reveal after reveal after reveal and shock and death and plot twist. So much happened! I gotta say, one of my top favorite part was Marsh revealed as not only alive but also an Inquisitor. That was really something. I did not expect that at all.

I like her relationship with Elend so so much. As Valette she was able to join both lineages and rise up to be what the rebellion needs once Kelsier died. I’m assuming, I just started Well of Ascension, my first read. I also teared up when she learned the truth about Reen.

One more mistborn level moment for me: Kelsier destroying the pits of hathsin. Just the combination of him getting revenge against the place that tortured him for years plus the badassness of shattering every single atium geode at once with one massive Pull was just epic. And then it also hits different on a reread when after you realize that they basically have no atium in the entire next book

I feel like the specific death of the Lord Ruler wasn't really a surprise. However, I would add in (if you can consider it a separate scene) the moment when you realize who the Lord Ruler really is and what he can really do. That sudden realization was a sick scene to read through. Totally subverts your expectations. When you understand why he's immortal, the solution becomes so clear.

If I'm honest the fight scene where *spoilers* Vin kills Shan Elarial is my favorite in the whole trilogy (I totally get your reasoning though) And to clarify I mean best fight scene, not regular scene

I got to admit, the Lord Ruler's death did shock me, because it was still the first book of a trilogy, so I was expecting it to take until book 3 until he was defeated. It was a real fist pump moment for me the first time reading it.

Such a cool video. There are so many great scenes throughout the series, and especially The Final Empire. When Vin and Kelsier go into Kredik Shaw for the first time, oh my goodness! My heart dropped when Kelsier yelled “RUN!” I thought he was going to die there. That whole sequence is one of my favorites in the book. And Kelsier’s death was a gut punch. After such an awesome fight scene with the Inquisitor. I was very heartbroken.

Vin killing Shan was and still is my favorite scene. Ooooh like you don’t understand how much Shan got under my skin, like if there’s anything that I hate A LOT is people like her. And when she died, I was SCREAMING and CELEBRATING! I felt catharsis at that moment.

I need to stop half video for a second because yes, I do not agree Kelsier vs Inquisitor to be in the middle 😁 For me that is one of the most important scenes of the book because you spend the whole book hearing how superior in power inquisitors are and how even Mistborn avoid fighting them and here Kelsier proves, in front of all the ska and nobles that believed killing inquisitors was impossible, that it IS possible. If you think a task is imposible you will never put all your energy towards it and thus never achieve it, but if somebody proves that it IS possible then you know you only have to work harder. The same theme ia there in the book with overthrowing the Final Empire or killing the Lord Ruler, and this fight is what makes everyone believe that what Keliser says and believes to be possible, it really is. Apart from being a cool as hell fight ofc. And Kelsier saving Elend is also a big personal character moment for Kell. But I like mostly the implications that I explained above 😊 Edit: for the rest I agree mostly, I would keep the cost on top with the lord ruler death too. And Vin's outburst also in the top, adding the afterwards talk with the flower scene. And definitely add Kelsier having destroyed the Pits which is related to Marsh dead. We don't see Kelsier that affected because we don't follow him there all the time. But this is how Kelsier gets angry, he doesn't scream to the air, that's useless, he hurts you someway and destroying the pits was an amazing way of hurting the whole nobility. Apart, that had huge consequences for the rest of the trilogy and is still having consequences in era 2, to the point that the last book is titled after atium. And another scene I would add is the whole prologue. I think the prologur is brilliant and kind of sets the whole plot of the book amazingly without spoiling anything for your first read (Kelsier preasurring the ska to rebel and showing them that the nobility can be beaten and that they can't just accept being killed all the time) I loved this video so much, almost cried again just hearing some of the moments 😭💙

Battle with the Lord Ruler might be my favorite scene in the trilogy. (Spoiler alert for later books) Especially when you realize he isn't a bad guy per say. It's unknown how much of his deeds were actually Ruin's doing. Also he is so convinced he is the messiah or something, that he prevented bigger evil...

I was completely turned off by this series because a 16 YEAR OLD GIRL was beaten til she bruised and bled... and sexualized within the first 3 chapters. Maybe i am crazy for having no tolerance towards violence towards children, but it is sickening. author could have made her an adult... with NO loss to the story line. all violence is bad but to purposely make her a child is gross.
