The little song in the middle of the recap was so unexpected but also a-ma-zing. Rosemary's recaps are always the highlight of the first-week video for me. I'm hoping she continues to make them in the future, as Spanreeds moves into other series.

So I wasn't even really aware of this novella until I read it. I was going through Ars Arcanum at the time, and didn't really know anything about the contents of the book. So, one evening I'm having immense difficulty sleeping, so I just start to read. I ended up reading until about 3am, and knocked almost all of Secret History out that night. It was a very memorable experience, and the result is that Secret History has a very special place in my memory.

This is in my opinion the most enjoyable book i read in the series. Kelsier’s transformation from a character to more of a general force i think is one of the more intresting choices made throughout the cosmere and i feel really makes kel different from many of the troubled mentors in other books. His scenes with leras really show how he really feeds off his own ego in ways that both draws people together but also solves problems. He needs validation and thus sees problems and tackles them to feel in control. He wants others to see his greatness and thus constantly is aiming for big things. But at the same time his ego and insecurities drive him to want to survive. He is selfish and thus in many ways selfless. As he does things to boost his own self image that end up better others. I know people wanted him to go on to the beyond to see mare. But faced with how small his perspective was and the dangers of the cosmere I can’t imagine any other choice he could make in character but strive to make sure he was both never used again but also gain power.

Kelsier is so fascinating. I’m definitely pleased he stuck around and I can’t wait to see what Brandon does with his character going forward. Brandon talked about him recently in terms of which KR order he would be and he made some comments about how Kelsier took on Mare’s philosophies and I REALLY want to see how this goes in the future and we’re the ideas are warped by the rest of his personality or if it tempers him. He’s definitely up there as one of the most interesting things I’m excited for in the future of the cosmere.
