It's mostly OpenToonz, which works for Tahoma anyway, but I've a few Tahoma specific lesson in the too. If you take a look at the course page you'll see the full curriculum and I've highlighted which lessons are specifically for Tahoma.

There is absolutely no doubt that Darren is an expert at animating with Opentoonz. He's very thorough and explains each concept with multiple examples, making it really easy to grasp. To top it, I also think his voice has a soothing therapeutic quality. No kidding! ;D For real.

Dear Darren Blender and grease pencil have an option to increase the resolution scale, which increases text and icon sizes. To access it, open Blender, go to Edit, Preferences, Interface then Display, and finally Resolution Scale. It would be nice to have such a facility in Tahoma and OpenToonz.
@DarrenTAnims3 ай бұрын
It would. You can change the text size, or the size of other controls by editing the themes. I've covered this here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/np2piqCCh92We7c

Hello Darren... Your Udemy course is my summer project... I see that you created it a few years ago. I also see that you've updated it recently (2/23) and that you use both Tahoma and Opentoonz proper... Can you advise me on which version of the software I should install so that the course content is the most similar to my own screen? Thanks. PS. I've been a teacher for nearly 40 years (seriously...) so I can safely qualify myself as an "expert". You sir, are an excellent teacher.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. The majority of the course was recorded with OpenToonz, but works exactly the same in Tahoma. I recorded a few separate lessons with Tahoma where there are differences. But the main course is for OpenToonz. I intend to add a few more lessons shortly, to cover some recent improvements in OpenToonz.

Hello Darren! Is it possible to add animation into a real video (filmed from my iPhone) with Opentoonz?
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely it is. If you save your video as MP4, don't forget you'll have to setup ffmpeg first (details in the online help guide). I'd suggest editing your video to be as short as possible because importing video can take a little while, so be patient when you do import it. But a new guy has recently joined my Discord who makes videos like that. And he's recently turned to OpenToonz for making them. Here's his channel where you can see the kind of video he makes: kzbin.infovideos

Darren, I 've been watching your videos and they have helped me so much. But after adding a mesh to one of my characters after I saved it every time I open the project, opentoonz crashes. All other projects work except this one, is there some way I can save all my work?
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
Are you a member of my Discord? This sounds like an issue that I've discussed there (in the faq section). There seems to be a bug that sometimes scenes with keys in them aren't saved correctly. The fix is: 1. Take a copy of your scene's .tnz file, so you can revert back to it if this doesn't work. 2. Open the secene's .tnz file in a text editor like Notepad++ and see if you have ** anywhere. If so, delete everything between *

Dear Darren what is the future of 2d animation vis a vis 3d
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
I think the future of 2D Animation is looking bright. Especially for small, independent, studios. There's more popping up all of the time. And I think the fact you can work on animation for a studio anywhere in the world from anywhere else in the world helps a lot. I think we'll see a lot more of it on streaming services like Netflix. As well as there being plenty of animations being developed by independents on KZbin.

i'm a complete unknown but FWIW here's my review of Darren's course, which I recently posted on the udemy site. (I don''t know Darren and I'm not affiliated with him in any way): --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darren knows his stuff AND knows how to present material in an engaging way. This is NOT one of those courses where someone got a microphone for Christmas and thought it would be fun to become a teacher; this has clearly been put together with a lot of thought, so that you get a ton of content, all nicely organised, with clear explanations throughout. OpenToonz is probably one of the more complicated animation packages (reflecting its awesome power) making it really tough going if you're trying to work things out for yourself, cobbling together a bunch of youtube videos etc. If you're looking for someone who can help you navigate the software and get up to speed with its main features, you've found him. (And I should add that I'm difficult to please - had many refunds from udemy for courses that didn't deliver what they promised. No such problems with this one.) Many Thanks, Darren.

Hi Your videos are great. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. I am new to Tahoma2D and Script. Is there a way to create a random color ball? Since the fill level is on its own layer, I was thinking maybe if there was a way to create a random radial gradient color ball using javascript: scene = new Scene("test.tnz"); scene.getLevel("fillTest"); function newGradient() { var randomColor1 = "#" + Math.floor(Math.random()*16777215).toString(16); return randomColor1; } // Create gradient // (x0,y0,r0 (starting circle),x1,y1, r1(ending circle)) var grd = scene.createRadialGradient(100,65,5,100,65,50); grd.addColorStop(0,"white"); grd.addColorStop(1,newGradient()); // Fill with gradient scene.fillStyle = grd; scene.fill(); I would appreciate any suggestions.

No. You can't use javascript like this with OpenToonz. It only has a very basic scripting interface.
