EXCELLENT Video ! Please post more videos of the Equipe in action. Such a wonderful raceboard...It doesn't get the worldwide attention it so deserves.

thx “WL” … one session ended at the bottom of the lake. 😵💫 because I now have a GoOro 9 I can record a new session. October 3 there is a Vintage raceboard cup in the Netherlands. I will post recordings of that. Everywhere I go with the Mistral Equipe you get the same reaction to this beautiful epic board. Slalom stuff is cool but surfing with an Equipe is great …

I sail the super light ii which I think is the same shape, also with a modern GA sail as you have here - just an awesome experience, this video really shows it as it is - thanks. Haven't had the courage to move the mast track whilst sailing yet but inspired to be brave by this video (terrified of breaking it!)
@ronald-huve2 ай бұрын
This season I unfortunately sailed less than I had hoped but nevertheless I used the board quite often and I assure you it can take it. With the mast track more to the back and a wide windward course it is very doable.

I remember racing the Bic Bamba with a custom large wood Dagger board until the first Equipe showed up and smoked everybody.. I got ahold of a new Megacat that was hit by a fork lift. I bought it reasonably cheap and spent all winter rebuilding it. A Very competitive but fragile ride. I still sail it, still in good shape. The Equipe II came along, a Awesome Race board!
@ronald-huve Жыл бұрын
Hi...It always feels good to make something beautiful as a hobby, what's even better is that you can enjoy it for a long time once it's done well. MegaCat is also a cool board. I've never sailed on it before. Hit by a forklift?? How? :)
@TheMegacat9 Жыл бұрын
@@ronald-huve The Megacat came in a cardboard box. The fork lift was supposes to lift from the bottom, instead It drove the forks right into the middle of the box (and board). Ouch! I replaced the foam, carbon glassed it up, repaired/sharped up all of the damaged edges.

Nice video Ronald! Reminds me of late 80s early 90s when I sailed my F2 Lightning and then Fanatic Ultra & Mega Cat. Ultra Cat with wild graphics & lower volume was the sweetest board to be back in straps on the majority of the board's 375cm length laid out in front of you.

That there is a few meters of board "pointing the way" in front of you is what it feels like.

Nice! I've got an Equipe 2 and IMCO alongside the Lechner and two of Robby's custom raceboards, including the famous red prototype for the original Pan Am. The E2 is definitely faster than the others in the conditions in your vid. I'm a Windsurfer LT fanatic but your vid makes me want to drag out the Raceboards.

Hi Chris. Thank you for your response. That is absolutely true. We (surf club members) see the revival of longboard surfing, simply because it is relaxed. If you ultimately look at the distance traveled by a longboarder and a slalom surfer, you often make more KM on a longboard. Watch vids from olddeurcup rutbeeksurfivors! Every year a large vintage surf event including an LT classification. September 3 2023 again.

Hi Frank. Thank you for your comment, apologies for the late response. I know that feeling of picking up an old board again. Then you find yourself enjoying the comfort of good boards with a broad smile as you remember from the past. I have watched your longboard videos of your blue Equipe several times. I take the liberty of inviting myself to sail around the beautiful waters of Terschelling as in your Equipe videos. Just let me know....

Hi Ronald! Great video! Wonderful place and a delight how the board glides through the water. It's nice to see longboards back in windsurfing. I was surprised to find the sail was over 9 m2. I thought it wouldn't be more than 7m2 or 8m2, at most. Being french I would like to ask you about another longboard, but a much older, perhaps you knew it or even had it. I'm reffering to "Dufour Bic Ken Winner". It was my first board, actually a local copy. I would love to buy one some day soon. It was a pretty good longboard. Thanks again for the video.
@ronald-huve11 ай бұрын
Hi Sergio, Thanks for your comment. Sailing on a longboard is actually being rediscovered by experienced windsurfers. A 9.2m2 of the latest generation is much more controllable than the old sails. A lot has been improved. My wife also used to (learn to) sail on a Dufour. Not myself. Good luck looking for a used Dufour, it should definitely be found somewhere. (next summer we will go to Hourtin again, hoping for nice days with wind)

this is great. i remember hearing about there being footage of Robby Naish front looping one of these boards but I never saw it. Maybe just a rumour. What was the largest sail these boards were originally designed for back in their day?
@ronald-huve Жыл бұрын
Thx, this is not a rumor... it can be seen online. My respect for Robby Naish could not be more, but when you surf on an almost 4m long board you realize that he is one of a kind. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYHCk3yIhKmJo6csi=dpuUva-OtGjgirSQ

Great stuff. I do the same on an Equipe I and love it. I feel that even though the II has more volume and may be a better all round board, the I was designed by Randy Naish and performs like a slalom board in the jibes. It was also designed for less heavy sailors. If it's just blasting around on a longboard I prefer the équipe I with a LoftSails 9.5. Similar set up to here.

What a perfect sporty hobby ! I totally agree with you that the modern stuff is wayyy to overpriced. I am 65 and have not surfed for 35 years; stil having a Klepper slalomboard 2.95 m , aluminium boom, 6.0 mylar full batten sail, 3.6 storm-galesail. Just need new mast. I'm afraid the Klepper 295 is too demanding after 35 years; but I'll take a try..... I just rent a mast. . Greetz from Holland 🇳🇱
@ronald-huve2 ай бұрын
Hi FP. I hope you succeeded in getting back on the water... A mast shouldn't be that exciting to find, I find starting on a 2.95 board again after so many years with a sail from the time much more exciting. Respect. I hope you succeeded. (P.S. I'm also from Holland)

Did I see you in a post by Good ol' Boards winning 1st place in a race at Strand Horst ? You were the one on the Mistral, correct? What board and sail were you using... It looked like an Equipe and a Sailworks, but I couldn't tell for sure.

That's right. Thank you. We organized a race together with Good Ol Boards in which more than 30 longboards participated also from Belgian and Germany. It was a very successful event with very beautiful surfing equipment. we have founded “longboardwindsurfing-dot-org” (work in progress) to promote longboard windsurfing. There is a lot of interest from both “oldies” and beginners. This week I will post a short video of that event. … cu

Sorry. I forgot to answer your question. I sailed with a Mistral Equipe 2 and a Gaastra Phantom 9.2 from 2018 with a strong wind of 25 knots. This was noticeable the next day 😜

@@ronald-huve Fantastic. Your skills are evident. I hope to one day get my Equipe 2 up to that speed. I can barely handle 20 knots now...I'm heavy enough, but I can't get comfortable in the footstraps ... yet
@ronald-huve Жыл бұрын
I know that feeling. It is important that you give the sail sufficient downhaul. (I joked in the German/English language of the GA-sails designer) but it is important. And I notice that you should not hold the boom so short on the mast and keep your harness rope long

et dire que avant on greer une 7.5m2 sur ces flotteurs !!!! je ne suis pas sur que le rail de pieds de mat support la charge, sa fini souvent par arracher les inserts
@ronald-huve11 ай бұрын
Haven't had any problems with it so far. It is important that the rail is firmly seated in the board without any play. I usually remove this first to overhaul the rail. Then you quickly notice how it is stuck... But a good point to bring to your attention, thx.
