6:53. Curious fly comes in for a landing. Of all the designs I saw today for a fence, this one was the least complicated. Thanks for posting this. I don't know why I didn't think of this myself. Slight criticisms: 1 - You should've used a drill press to cut out & countersink those holes in that recessed bolt end. 2 - You could've add a big washer a short spring just before that handle. That way just the slightest twist of the knob would've locked it into place.

easy and simple, just what i am looking for! what i wouldt change the way of alignment. because the saw is already installed i wouldt scribe a line exactly parallel to the blade.That way the cut is always straight and because of a long referenzline more accurat. And because my table is butted to a wall (i know no outfeedspace) i will ride the backside of the fence in a t-track, so i have no overhang. I will insert a small aluminiumpiece at the end of the fence, that can ride in the t-track. together with 2 measuring strips frond and back i can allways check the proper setting. And thanks for the idea with the tightening knob. so i need now leverconstruction and is far more easy.

None of these ideas are legal unless you are going to be the one using it, ive done same but kept the riving knife and fence in play, if i was to use these saws at work i would be fined and given warning
@YachtMaestro5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I see what you mean here. Like a rail for the bottom part(s) of the Fence to "slide" along, on top of. Another improvement would be to wax (or possibly polyurethane) the inside edge of the fence (and the outside edges of the table surface) so it slides easier.

WARNING: please read before building. The video is well made and well intentioned but misses some vital points. The most important job for a fence is to ensure we make straight cuts, so that we don't have gaps or misaligned edges in our work. 1. Before starting, we must ensure that the timber if straight and flat along the fence surface and along the surface that will be in contact with the table. Also these 2 surfaces must be square to each other. 2. The fence surface must be aligned to the blade (as steven soosai commented) you could clamp the fence to the blade for this purpose. 3. This style of fence rely's on the table (either end of the blade, ie. not the sides) being very flat and square aligned to the blade. Summary: before starting. Make the fence timber straight and square. Make the table straight and square to the blade. Align the fence to the blade before assembly.

Of course. Why adjust the length of the fence if you need it for that specific table. Was wondering how you designed it from just the video image itself, half expected a rack and pinion type of rig inserted within for that kind of movement. You have humbled me and brought me back to what's important. 'Sometimes the simplest answer is the best answer.'

Like the simplicity of this rip fence. My only comment would be is to use 3/4" plywood. Most other wood will expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity, possibly making the fence difficult to move at some point.

Hope you still have all your fingers! MAKE A SIMPLE GUARD - get a piece of plexiglass about 12x12x0.25 or better. Drill it and screw it to your fence. That's it! Works with Dado's too. Until you can do a custom bent suspension tube mount from the top right corner - which you can also buy pretty affordably to upgrade any TS. SAFETY IS BASIC BASIC BASIC, FIRST FIRST FIRST

How did you put the tightening handle to make it firm? If you turn the handle clockwise, the bolt will go in and when you turn it counter clockwise, the handle will loosen. I don't think this will move the bolt to tighten the fence.

Exelente ideia.
