I am an average rider. I have a set of e07+ on my 2008 1200GSA and have covered 10000kms on them. The rear tyre has about 3mm left on the main wear line, the front is about 40% left. The front can be noisy at speeds of 100/120kph) I managed to do the Ben10 eco challenge ( Google it) on the tyres with normal pressure and these tyres inspired a LOT of confidence in really bad conditions. The grip on tarmac is absolutely fine and can breakfast run with the fast kids with confidence. So far, if I only had to have one set of tires for the rest of my riding life, it would be the e07+.

Beautiful scenery and great editing Thomas, like the music as well, she sounds like a Swedish vocalist that i have used tracks from. You improve on every video. Now open the boarders so i can plan the TET Norway before the mosquitos leave us for the season... Now to the tires! I'm with You and understand the way of thinking. Sweden have the same laws for offroading, however some tractor och forest trails offer offroad like situations. But never the less i have not been riding on such a road oriented tire for close to 15 years. Closest have been the Karoo 3's and the Metzler Sahara. So to me with my preferences i see those tires more like 30/70 (30 offroad). The Saharas did my 690 ride to Preikestolen in Norway in best manner You can ask for, so i completely see your point. I see the Ralls as 50-70/30. But thats because i plan the tires for the worst condition ”offroad” and not vice versa. I do not ride much asphalt and try to avoid it, so thats where i come from. With that said those E07+ will do TET like a charm. Rider/bike performance is ALOT more than tires, but tires gives confidence and confidence helps rider. I really look fwd on your thoughts on the E09's! A tire i could concider when Rallz are toasted. Probably less difference ridewise than You would think and with shorter life... Tire life is direct linked tonthrottle though, i toasted Karoo T and Karoo 2 at 1500Km's though. Thats a adventure weekend. 😂💪🏻 Keep it up Thomas!

Thank you my friend :-) reading this from someone i look up to, and inspire me are really humble experience. There will be some news 15. May... they talking about open up the country if the numbers continue to drop like they have the last couple of days. If so, there can be a possibility for the boarders to open the 15 june :-) That is perfect for the TET in Norway. You guys have alot more gravel roads to handle than we have over here. I have to drive so much tarmac no matter if i like it or not, so i can't ignore the fact that most of my riding is tarmac, and need tires that does that just as good as gravel. And that can be a challange. Nice to hear your experience with your tires, and nice of you to share them here :-)

I should ad that Mitas has alot of tires to choose from, at my 690 i had Mitas C21 on front and C02 at rear. These are extreme offroad tires and thats where i come from when i choose to the tubeless set up on the 790R. But with this heavier bike i think i'm spot on right now until i hear more from the E09. I swapped bike to do more mix and Adv riding, but i have barely changed my style where i end up with the bike 😂👀

I have EO7's front and back of my ex army Armstrong MT500 (Rotax 500cc engine). Like Jan RA I found the rear too hard to install and had to pay a dealer to do it, the front was OK. That is the only negative I can find. On the road they are excellent although the rear will break away when leant over and accelerating out of sharp corners. I have only managed limited gravel and dirt riding, but the tyres have been great. Love the channel Thomas.

Thank you for sharing I have 10K km on my Mitas e07 DACAR version on both wheels! and i think there are 5K km left on the front, but next time it will be the Mitas e07+ non DACAR version because this stiff tires are rather hard to mount and the front tyre are rather noisy on tarmac, but on the Swedish🇸🇪 gravel roads the Mitas tires are just perfect and my rather heavy Africa Twin DCT becomes a completely different bike 👍 The history of Mitas brand reaches back to the thirties of the last century. The tyres were first produced in Prague, then in Zlín, and then in Otrokovice in the Czech Republic. In 2016, Mitas became a part of Trelleborg group. Currently, the Mitas tyres are produced in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, Sri Lanka and in America. The latest European production plant in Otrokovice started operating in 2013. It produces radial tyres designed for high-performance agricultural technology. Another significant milestone was the opening of the production plant in Charles City, the USA, where the production of radial and agricultural Mitas tyres commenced in 2012. The production plant is located directly in the heart of the American farming industry and in an area with many producers of agricultural technology. Extensive American market with high demands provides Mitas brand with great potential.

Mitas E07 rear (140/80-17 TL) on my bike and just done TET Norway and a lot other gravel roads. Wears slowly and gave all the grip I needed on the TET which is 90% gravel, 5% asphalt, 3% forest road and maximum 1% mud/grass. For that the tyre is perfect. It collected mud the few places there was mud. Exactly as predicted. But it is so rare I ride into mud. Front I used a Bridgestone AX41, gives all the grip I needed, but it wears quickly and is very very noisy. So I was thinking of replace front with a TKC80 which I have been happy with when it comes to grip and noise (and unhappy with when it comes to wear). But have changed my mind after the great experience with the E07 rear and will try Mitas E07+ front (110/80-19 TL). The price is about same as for a TKC80. On Mitas website they claim that the E07 plus version was developed to be a bit more road oriented (60/40) than the E07 (50/50) but Ive seen many say that E07+ is better off the tarmac than the pure E07. Well I will try. Maybe next time I will try the E09 but will first listen to your experience with it. Great review!

I had an EO7 plus on the rear with a TKC 80 on the front for about 8 months. The wear life is decent, but it did square off after about 5,000 miles from a trip that was mostly tarmac; it was also reasonably smooth on the road as compared to a TKC 80 rear. I thought the off road grip was good, with the exception of a back and forth fishtailing effect in mud that was more exaggerated than the TKC 80 used previously. However, what I really did not like was the wet pavement performance. To get the longevity they used a very hard rubber that is super sketchy on wet pavement, and for me it stepped out too much for my comfort on dry pavement when pushed. For that reason I replaced it with something else; otherwise the EO7 is a good tire for fairly smooth road riding and good off road capability, just don’t push them too hard on the road. Currently running a full set of Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires, which are I think a true unicorn tire thus far. I don’t think they’re being exported from the US, but they just came out in December. Here’s a recent video from Rawhyde Adventures talking a short comparison between the Dunlops and EO7s, the latter which they use exclusively at their riding academy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/faqkh2Nmp6xqi9E

Whether I'm riding on a wet, debris covered mountain road, loose gravel, technical off-road terrain, a rainstorm on the highway, or blasting through Deal's Gap with sport bikes, these tires perform. And the super stiff sidewalls on the Dakar variant are sturdy enough to get you back to civilization if you have a serious puncture in the middle of nowhere. I ordered a set of these for my r1250gs. They arrived but the rubber was too hard to my liking. More like a flexible plastic type of feel. Whilst we all like tyre longevity- I also like tarmac grip. Literally whilst I was trying to decide what to do I saw a review on KZbin when the experienced reviewer lost the back end on the tarmac. I have sent them back and will get a set of the ax41’s when it gets warmer.
@tshansen4 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, longevity is not as important as grips on tarmac :-) Did you experience any slip with them yourself? I use mine here in the cold north in the beginning and end of the season... from 2-5 degree celcius and up, and not once did they feel unpredictable. And yes, rubber is and always will be a matter of personal preference. I hear gret stuff about the ax41, but here in Norway they are twice the price :-(

Aside from the size of the bike on a multi day dual sport/ADV ride on that 50/50 tire i.e. that 1200 GSA versus a WR250R, there's also the environment of the ride once off the slab: lots of mud, sand and loose dirt or is it mostly hard packed national forest roads and logging roads with buildups of gravel in the corners and the middle. Here in the mountains around Yellowstone and Glacier national parks, there isn't much mud and sand but you do need a sure footed front tire that suddenly slip out on you on those hard dirt road corners covered in a film of grit or with a layer of gravel on top. Highway riding within the speed limit, you can have a sporty and predictable ride with pretty much any tire. I'm willing to consider giving these a go instead of another set of Heidenau K60 scouts if they're available in the sizes to fit my WR250R. BTW, I'm told that Mitas is the current embodiment of Telleborg who most of us considered made the most kick ass motocross tires back in the 1970's...

Very nice presentation! Beautiful country. These tires are original equipment on my new 890 R, and I've been very impressed. I don't have any experience with 50/50 tires up to this point, so I don't have a good reference, but I've been surprised at the performance off-road and on. (I've got plenty of pure off-road and on-road riding and these seem to strike an improbably good compromise.) For some reason the front is losing pressure very fast, so I'm keeping an eye on that. The dealer dismounted the tire and checked it at the first service, said it seemed ok, but since then I've seen more reports of losing pressure more rapidly than desirable. For now, the rear is holding fine. Not 100% sure to what this should be attributed, but I've seen videos of air loss around the bead. I'll be watching that and, if so, that will be a major reason for me to switch from the E-07 to something different. Yes, I know a person can just add a tube and I may end up doing that. But for now I'm going to try to stay with the stock tubeless setup.

Thank you Curtis... I'm really happy with the mitas as well, but I mix them up with the tkc80 front. I rather have a little better grip in the front for my kind of gravel riding. Not sure if I need it, but it feels so much more confident. You should try to mix it up with a more knobby setup. E-12 or E-13 could be a front option (if they come tubeless) Haha, I understand why you don't want to go tube. and you should not on a tubeless rim. Get that sorted, but would be nice to know if it is the rim or actually the tire. I know there is some rapports about the bead on the rim or how to say it on yamaha has a weld that makes the tire really hard to set, even with a tube.

Thank you mate :-) I have looked at the mitas c02 before, when riding the 690, but i tought it was way to aggressive for the conditions here. If i find them cheap, it may be a option instead of the motoz? Have to look closer at this. Cheers, thank you for the tip :-)

Thanks for the video, 6000km, than it’s good to be able to change the tires your self. On my bolt I changed the tires at the 20000km service, but that’s a different story of course. If you never ride off-road but ride some time on a gravel road (regular unpaved road) more 90/10 or 80/20 I guess there’s tires with a little more longevity? Is there any tires you have tried that would be a good option. I guess you can ride on any tires it’s depends on how experienced and how throttle happy you are 🙂
@tshansen4 жыл бұрын
Yes, i was really happy and amazed bu the tkc70 as a mostly road tire. It does gravel ok, and the road quality on those was perfect. The front did cup a little after a while.

@JoonesAdventuresMC4 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what mileage to expect on a offroad or adventure tire. I guess it also depends of the gravel on the road. Tarmac doesn't tear on the tire as much as sharp stones in the gravel does and so on. What mileage did you get fron the TKC70?. I'm not looking for an offroad tire, more a "touring tire" that can be used even on gravel. Offcourse all 50/50 70/30 ands 80/20 tires are compromises. I guess Good road performance and acceptable performance on unpaved roads in relatively slow riding. Not for the Yamha Bolt but for an other bike. To day I have Anakee III on that Bike and maybe thats good anough for what I am looking for.

Greetings from West Vancouver. I have the Motoz Adventure & RallZ - getting close needing replacement. I see your comments with Mattias, makes sense now. If you have to ride a lot of pavement to get to off-road, E07 makes good sense. If most of your time is spent off-road with little pavement, the Motoz makes sense. Where I am is somewhere in the middle, if a little to the Norweigan style where we have to ride pavement, sometimes 2 - 3 hours or more to access good off-road areas. I wonder how you feel today about the E07 - I don't recall seeing them on your bike? Any change in views? The E07 does not seem to be great in loose off-road material, loose gravel, sand, or mud. Hardpack forest roads maybe, but in that regard, are you not limiting yourself? Especially by putting an E07 on the front. I'd consider an E09 for the front with the E07 on the back, maybe. Still thinking about it, curious about your views?
@tshansen3 жыл бұрын
Greeting Shayne 👏🏻 This is my exact experience... when riding so much tarmac, there is just no point in running to knobby tires. I did try the tkc70 rocks on the rear this season, a great road tire, but I felt like the rear was spinning out faster and loosed traction on the gravel compared to the mitas e-07+ I always run with the tkc80 front, and switch between what I have on the rear. The tkc80 is the best over all tire I have tried in the 90/90 21 inch size. It is incredible milage and does really well on tarmac and gravel. The mitas e-07+ does struggle in the conditions you mention, but we don't have alot of it here in Norway. If I know I'm going to places with more offroad and gravel, I put on a more knobby rear (like the e-09) but for my daily use, with so much tarmac and commuting back and fort from work. A 50/50 tires win's for me. And I'm still holding on to my statement... the mitas e-07+ is probably the best 50/50 tire on the market 🙏🏻
