I bought this tire to ride the KTM 1290 SAS off-road but how does this tire perform on pavement on high alpine mountain passes? How fast can you take it on the German Autobahn? What about noise and rain performance? Find out in this video where I share my experiences with the Mitas E-07+ after one year of riding it on my KTM 1290 Super Adventure S.

Hi, thanks for your video. I have this tires on my 2018 KTM 1290 S. Adv. R, not big complains with them, except for the front tire (90/90R21) that suddenly started loosing air in several points of the bead, the shop clean the bead and the rim, but keep loosing air, so I decided to change the tire (same brand and model) until the rear wears out, then probably will try another brand...mainly because my front tire is pretty noisy. Probably will try DUNLOP Trailmission or CONTINENTAL TKC70 Rock's (rear). Regards.

Thank you very much- I just went through a set of these in 16 days in the „Dakar“ mix - harder rubber compound- lots of riding in wet conditions- on and off-road. They did surprisingly well - other riders were on softer tires like the Anakee Wild and Karoo 3 and I did not feel I was in much of disadvantage - now that is all very subjective of course but I just had a brand new set mounted a few days ago.

When i tested karoo 3 in 2018 i could say the opposite. Rear tire was terrible in wet, it was the worst experience on a bike i ever had. Even on dry i couln't trust them completely because sometimes the rear lost grip out of a sudden in curves. Front tire wasnt that bad, but when it started to wear unevenly from braking it caused the steering to wobble at lower speeds. But the tires lasted long and did good in loose terrain or gravel. - Perhaps they had fixed the compound since then. I am using now e07 and e07+ (since 8000km) and have no problems, these are great, even on wet termac.

Thank you very much! I am also contemplating my next offroad tire set too. The E-07+ was actually pretty spot on for what I needed at the time - for what it does offroad it still runs well on tarmac and lasts pretty long. I was looking at the E10 or even the E09 for more agressive offroad features but I know I still be travelling a lot on regular roads so they will likely wear much faster. Bridgestone make the AX41 which should also fall into this category of tires.

The GoPro has quite nice image quality and state of the art image stabilization but considering it is the market leader it still lacks in some of the most important areas. It gets really slow or freezes up so that I have to take the battery out to restart it again - quite often unfortunatly. It cannot rember the freaking date & time after the battery is removed for more than 12 hrs and why in the world would you (still in its 9th generation) design a camera that needs a dongle for mic input when all the mics come with 3.5mm jacks. It is a love hate relationship with my GoPro 😂

@Fluffy_Vizier 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what the new plus does, but I've had the normal e-07 and the k60 scout on my africa twin. Their quite similar. I'd say the scout does a little better in the wet, but that may be between my ears. The scout also has a hard center line that gives it a bit more mileage, but supposedly that line is a disadvantage offroad again. (Honestly, apart from mileage, the differences between these tires are barely noticeable) With my new 1290 I'm gonna opt for 2 sets of wheels, because I don't want to compromise anymore, locally anyway. It sucks either way though. Go 50/50 and always have to compromise. Go tkc80 and wreck your tires when you want to dirt a bit further from home... I may very wel just swap the tkc80's for e07 or k60 just for going on holidays. Man, this is an expensive hobby isn't it? 😅

Hey. Nice video. How would you rate off-road performance (gravel, sand) of these tyres. Do they feel squerly compared to some others? Thinking of buying these but see some mixed reviews.
@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes Жыл бұрын
They do reasonably well on sand and gravel as most 60/40 or 50/50 tires will - mud is where most of these tires will start to struggle What makes the E-07+ stand out from the rest is that they last MUCH longer than all other 50/50 tires on the market while still providing good grip off-road. Typical top mileage of an Anakee Wild or Karoo 4 are approximately 5000 km. This Mitas will easily do 8000 km if don’t go crazy on the gas. They do this with a harder rubber compound so you will compromise performance compared to typical 50/50 tires in some situations. If you need your tires to last that long this is almost the only option- if 5000 km or less is ok you have much more choices to go with. Check out this video - specifically the tire and tools section kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWbYm62PeJKmpqM the tire puncture would likely not have happened with Mitas as the carcass is much more puncture resistant

Hey, I have a delicate tyre question. I’ve seen that you have by now used both the Pirelli Scorpion STR Rally as well as the Mitas E07+ Dakar. How do these two compare? Is the Pirelli better on the road and is the Mitas better off the road? I’d love to hear your opinion, thanks!
@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes 2 жыл бұрын
I have not had the Scorpion STR Rally on my bike yet. I have a Norden 901 for a couple of days that runs this tire. Both tires are probably 60:40 tires (road:offroad) - give or take. The STR Rally just from its profile and rubber compound is a littel more street biased. If Offroad Performance is primarily what you are looking for the Mitas maybe better by a bit. For pure road performance it would most certainly be the STR Rally. Longevity will be better with the Mitas Dakar for sure.

Do you know if the Mitas E-07 is a single compound tire? Currently, I am leaning towards the Michelin Anakee Wild. Eric
@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes 3 жыл бұрын
I am pretty certain it is not a multi-compound tire but I do not know for sure. The Anakee Wild will be slightly better for off-road use with the wider spaced tread pattern but you will compromise on road performance. I had the Anakee Wild on the GS - it is louder and less capable on road - also max speed is 170 km/h if that matters and it will wear faster. However, if off-road performance is more important to you the Anakee Wild would be the one I would pick.

I had the 'Wilds' on my DR650. Grip was not an issue in any conditions (including very high-speed cornering on-road). I'm pretty surprised to hear 'Motovibes' say the EO7+ was better on-road (It is either VERY good (which makes me more inclined to get an E07+), or the Annakee just didn't work so well on a heavier bike. I did run low pressures in my Annakees (25psi) as I found that seemed to give better grip on tarseal and gravel. I'm considering a EO7+ rear Annakee Wild front. I don't think you would get more than 3000km out of a rear Annakee Wild.

Unfortunately for some reason I do have issues since then, every other week I need to inflate both of them even is winter time here in Nevada and I do not ride too much and the bike is in the garage. I am sorry to read that you have trouble with your tires. I had to fill up my Mitas every 2 weeks as well but I attributed this to my spoked wheels rather than the tires itself. I think the spoked wheels are not as air tight as the cast alloy wheels. I have the same issue with my larger wheels from the R model - I need to fill up air more often. Are you running the Mitas on cast alloys or spoked wheels?

@@cosmo00013 I am deep in spectulation territory now but if the Contis were fine it may not be the wheel (leakage where the spokes enter the rim) itself - even though damage could have happened during the installation of the new tires. Leaves the valve itself? or maybe its leaking throug the tire bead (dirt caugh between tires & tire bead) - not super likely?! Next time around have them check the inner liner that seals the spokes from the rim - also get new valves. If nothing else works you can use a tube even in tubeless tire ;-)

@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes 3 жыл бұрын
Thomas - kein Problem.

Just used up a set this week - over 6000 km with approx 1000-2000 km more life in them but I was riding them hard on the second week as i knew I was going to have them replaced during service- as a matter of fact I will be picking my bike in a few hours.

A lot of my friends here, adventure riders, watching MotoVibes channel. Also for a lot of Adventure riders from other countries. It was absolutelly right decision and your English is perfect (look on the Ridermag guys from Romania they also publicate their videos in ENG). But is not bad, that we can hear time to time in your some strenght offroad situation also a nice hochdeutsch (jungs, hilfe! scheiße etc.😜)....Und armer Arne muß ein bisschen mehr Fremdsprachen lernen...
