@@KL-ot1vt die to how light the car is they suck in the winter. New tires with great tread... Black ice or very slick snow doesn't discriminate. But add wind to the mess and it's not safe taking it out. I was headed on my way home back home during a blizzard going 50 on a 60 mph zone as everyone was. Just took a gust of wind and a bulk patch of snow to cause me to lose control. I spun 360 3 times till I was finally able to get it under control just missing the wall. I also had a semi 50 feet behind me but he was able to slow down. Not a scratch cause I some how missed the semi and the wall... Not to mention two other cars. I'm glad that you made it out alive. Really good buyers guide, can be applied to basically all cars and I 100% agree that you should rev a car you are interested in buying especially if it has any form of variable valve timing. Big fan of the Toyota 86 wheels, very OEM+ looking!

just some pointers. get a lav mic and try to avoid recording on windy days. and when you cut and change takes make sure you leave some extra time at the beginning and end so you don't cut off your audio and you can transition smoother between clips. and possibly a handheld gimble for extra fluidity for those walk around shots. for driving shots maybe mount the camera inside the cabin or a couple go pros to capture everything from a better perspective. Absolutely love the Celica. I've got a 5th gen with a 3sgte swap and its a beast.

Thanks I am always grateful for buyers guides from actual owners. Coolant should be coolant and not dirty water, and I’d never buy a car that has any obvious history of overheating to letting the car idle after warming up for at least 10 mins with air con and lights on as this adds load to the engine. If that temp goes above middle then I won’t buy, also listen for the electric fan kicking in and turning off. Oil in coolant is more likely than coolant in oil, both indicate bad car. Knocking down 100 or even 500 for a bad gearbox ? Not me, I’d walk away unless it was advertised honestly. Check engine light can be lots of things, some serious so if check engine light is on the it needs investigation before buying. I’m looking for honesty from the seller, and I’m looking for evidence of proper maintenance. Hacked wiring or rounded nuts are a no-no, check brand of tyres, if they are the cheapest brand then you know the owner is cheap. It’s ALWAYS worth paying a bit more for a really good one, it’s cheaper in the end.

I owned 5th 6th and 7th gen. I love them all. But my opinion 7th is better overall. Fuel economy, comfort, looks and working on them for me is easier and 1zz-fe is a good engine as long as you change oil and check it once a week at least. I miss 3s-ge engine though because of crazy reliability. I once drove 35miles without coolant and I only screwed headgasket but for someone who is a mechanic and loves working on them it was as holiday. I'm not sure if 1zz-ge could take it though.

my 2zz short shifter grinded on the 2nd and 3d gear sometimes depending on whether you go up or down, and from where, and most importantly based on rpm. After driving it for 2 months, I got to learn it and it learned me. I noticed that If I tried to suddenly shift from 5th or 6th to second, especially on high rpm, it would definitely grind. But if I downed gears 1 by 1 eg. 5,4,3,2 or 5,4,2 it would be way better (still would grind sometimes, but maybe like 1/10 compared to 5,2). Finally, if you have low rpm, or ideal rpm for each gear, then it would never grind. eg. if I lock 2nd gear while at 3k or below, it would never grind, no matter where I'm coming from. Just my experience, I know it might be a faulty transmission (new clutch), but I come to realize that old manual cars are like women, you can't have one without it's character, and what appears to be issues, but it's a flair, a hint of the car's spirit that you either deal with it, in a mutual way that the car has to deal with you, or you can't.

It is now at 101,000 miles. I wanted to swap out the engine for a GTS engine but found out that a GTS engine will not fit into a GT model. 😥 But I LOVE this car. I hope they bring it back some day. The early 1ZZ oil rings lose their integrity after 40k miles/65k km. The ring design was reputedly rectified from the '04 model year. I was constantly topping up my early '04 model until eventually it failed its emissions test at about 165k miles/265 km. Car was scrapped because the ring upgrade is obviously quite a costly job.

I found a 2004 Toyota celica GT with 75,000 miles, they’re asking for 7k is that over priced? (The interior is very dirty)
@MitchDore3 жыл бұрын
I think it's a good price but I would recommend GT-S
@smokinjoeee3 жыл бұрын
for that price you should get a gts

I got my 04 gt automatic for 3.7k. I'd say thats overpriced with the interior being not taken cared of.

How much are these in the US ? I recently bought Celica T-sport 2005 version in the UK and damn it is rusty. I bought for £ 1000 and hence didn't check it much, but I am now paying 500 quid for rust repair and other parts for suspension and all to avoid noises. Overall so far spent 1000 extra. Not sure if i got a good deal there or not.... It is VVTLi version by the way with 135k mileage

You got a good deal on the T-sport for £1000. Even spending the extra £1000 your still good. Seen them sold for £2-3k. The T-sport is the top spec gen 7 celica in the UK bar the GT (UK GT having the 190bhp VVT-Li engine). It's starting to appreciate now so prices are on the up. I've got a '04 T-sport in thunder grey with 137k on it. Great car and it'll easily do 100k more. 👍

I own both a a gt and gts 7th gen, have had my gt for two years and need to replace the transmission, so alas it's a different build route with my gts that I got for 350

Do you really need premium gas for the gts ? I might be purchasing a 2004 Toyota Celtics gts

Avensis front brake straight swap is a must; standard Celica brakes are absolute rubbish for such an agile car. If you live in an area where salt is spread on the roads, keep an eye on the rear subframe.
