What an awesome interview. The way Mitch thinks is really an insite to how intelligent he really is. He really found his true calling to the industry. Just think about how many riders and families have benefited from his wisdom.

Phenomenal show! I really missed GL in this one, but Mitch is a fantastic guest with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. He knows what he's talking about on the business side of the sport, and I wish the powers-that-be within the sport would listen to his ideas. Thanks again Whiskey Throttle!

Back in 1983, my good friend was racing pro and got an early release Honda 250. There was absolutely no parts available for a while, and I was his mechanic, sort of. Took forever before even pistons were available. At a Saddleback race, he crushed his pipe and there were no pipes to buy from Honda yet. We found out that Pro Circuit was selling pipes, so we drove to Pro Circuit and waited for them to open, only to find out they didn't have them in stock yet. I dont know how we heard, but someone at Pro Circuit said that Bill's pipes was the one making the pipes for them, but you can't buy them from them directly. Back in 78 I had Bill make a custom cone pipe for my DT 175, yes a DT 175, (still have the bike) so I knew him a little.. Drove down to Bill's house in Norco, knocked on his door, said, remember me. He didn't, but remembered the pipe he made for me. We told him our problem and he said he couldn't sell one directly to us. I begged and he relented but said we couldn't say a word to anyone. Went to the races with it and everyone that saw it wanted to know where we got it. We lied and said we were sponsored buy Pro Circuit. We thought we were so cool having that pipe before anyone. Good times.

Absolutely epic show - that was the fastest 3 1/2 hours ever! The stories, the authenticity of Mitch's self criticism and definitive opinions that have literally defined the growth of the 250 class are incredible to listen to. I respect his transparency about IV drips "I will make my rig a MASH unit" nearly made me spit my coffee out. Mitch's idea of improving the payout for the riders is a great model - honestly, too good for the riders in the opinion of the promoters so nothing will be done but a great model non the less. I can't wait for part two...Thanks PING and DJ Donnie for putting the time in. Get well soon GL - we miss you.

Your an idiot. The two shows are completely opposite narratives from each other with WT being long form guest interview and pulp being short form news of what’s going on currently in Mx. they each have their place. I sat in on a show with ping at Steve’s about 4 years ago and they made magic together. The sooner we can drop this bullshit “which shows better” argument the better. And if your going to call someone delusional and try to shit on arguably the most widely renowned podcast at least attempt to spell Matthes’ name correct.

@irvhh1433 жыл бұрын
They ended the 500 2T class in the 1970s. The world didn't end.__ Ahem..there should be a single displacement 4T, 300 to 350 cc. The Pro class would allow all mods. The amateur/youth class would require a stock or spec cam and computer. And, a rev limiter. The amateurs would get a 2 mm over-bore as well. This would keep the hp about the same between the pros and intermediate riders, while making the privateer bikes more reliable. This would make the track design better. Now, the jumps are too easy for the 450s, while the young guys are struggling to make it on 250s without factory parts.
@irvhh1433 жыл бұрын
The issue is how to sell bikes to joe blow. Brand X says 'our new 4t is the fastest bike on earth.' Oh really, then why do you sell a 2T ( or vice versa ) They have to decide in advance how many 4t and 2t the production line is going to produce. Suppose the 2t and 4t are evenly matched in supercross. Great! Except that if a 2t wins the championship, there will be a ton of unsold 4t ( or vice versa ). __ It should be 4t only in sx and 2t only in outdoor , maybe 2t and 4t combined in the intermediate class.

1:20:15 Parnelli Jones is the 1st man to qualify for the Indy 500 at over 150mph (10 miles in 4 minutes), won the Indy 500 twice, almost won it for a 3rd time with the famous STP turbine car, won a bunch of NASCAR Cup races and was really good in the desert too (won Baja 500 and Mint 400 but the Baja 1000 always slipped from his fingers). Robby Gordon's entire life is probably him trying to be as great as "PJ" was. 1:20:35 In Spain, for like the past 35 years, the standard for fast is Emerson Fittipaldi (F1 & Indycar champion) for some reason. Even nowadays you can still hear some 40-something man calling any kind of fast/speedy guy a "Fittipaldi".
