I picked up this reel along with three 300s and a 314 from a fellow who selling off hundreds of old reels. I followed your video for the 308. This is one sweet reel. I really had no idea as to how light and smooth it is. I will use it this fall. Once again, thanky you for posting this video. I will check out a 314 video and tackle (no pin intended) later.

Not being much of a freshwater fisherman I’ve never gotten on of these. In a lot of ways this one reminds me of a 406 particularly with that treacherous bearing. Beautiful job on a beautiful reel!

Mitchell. like Penn, made big and small versions of the same engineering design. Next up Mitchell is a 396. Shrink the internals down and you have the later 308A reel. Of course, the 396 is very different up top - Stay tuned Chris

Hi Dennis - great video on the Mitchell - have had several of these from way back...good little workhorses - any chance of a video of service/repair on that Garcia Mitchell 488 in the works ? - I have 2 of them, and have an issue with one ......Thanks !

I am having trouble removing the rotor. I did remove the set screw but I still can't get the rotor off. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks!

I am having trouble removing my axle shaft I pulled the pin out that to remove the axle shaft and it doesn't move can anyone tell me what's wrong

What type/ brand of grease are you using?

I use Penn Precision reel grease and I also used Cal's Universal Drag grease for drag washers - thanks for asking - Dennis
