What’s your opinion on the singular choice of using polyester, for most new Mitchell & Ness jerseys representing older NBA uniforms ? For example, the Celtics jerseys, of The Eighties and The Sixties, were a heavy, dense solid knit nylon, all over the shell (body) . The older runs used this type of material, very accurate to how it was, during The Eighties and The Sixties . Accordingly, the original MacGregor Sand Knit Authentic jerseys, from The Eighties, used it too, labeled “ 100% NYLON “ . The current runs use polyester instead . Still nice, but not as accurate . What do you think ?

I could do a video to this comment, but I’ll give you my answer to what you have asked. I reallly don’t have an issue for the most part with it. My main issue is they still using faux mesh instead of the regular mesh they used back before 2008. There is some current jersey sprinkled in with the correct mesh but for the most part it’s the faux mesh. In the 60s and 70s the Celtics actually wore durene jerseys. Durene jersey are a cotton blend jersey that’s durable but more on the lighter side with weight. And actually a decent chunk of teams were actually wearing durene jerseys during those times as well. Now when Peter got the rights to the NBA he actually was using a cotton blend with a lot of older jersey so it would be half cotton and the other half I can’t recall right now. But the material used was heavier than current jerseys. My only thinking is because you can do different things with the polyester material like having it look like it’s durene(faux durene as Peter called it) and you can still use it to make the regular jerseys. And for the most part lately most jerseys M&N makes are mesh body jerseys not too many older full knit jersey being produced. So I don’t have an issue with it, just wish they put more time into details, brought back the regular mesh, and focus more on giving more authentics a try because swingmans has all the styles and players in comparison to authentic

Also I know most people think prior to M&N being sold to adidas in 08 they were more accurate but it’s truly false. When it comes to baseball Peter did an amazing job with it because from 88-98 he only produced MLB jerseys. So more focus and attention to those jerseys. After 98 he would go on to ink deals with the other major leagues and there is many mess ups with MLB, NBA I could point out but there was better attention and the material overall was better quality to me. There was some runs of stuff where it wasn’t that great prior to moving production to china. So some jerseys made currently are not accurate and than some are more accurate that older run productions…

@@ZooCity2306 Thanks so much for the information. Yes, as you mentioned, several models were in fact durene. A specific kind that comes to mind is the Detroit Pistons home jersey, for the 1966 - 1967 Season, of Dave Bing, which, on the tag, is labeled " 50 % NYLON 50 % COTTON ". I didn't know The Celtics used a durene too, during The Seventies and Sixties, so thanks for updating. The Bill Russel ( I can't remember offhand if I'm spelling his last name correctly, at the moment. ) home and away reproductions, of court version ( Authentic ), from Peter's pre - 2008 runs, are tagged " 100 % NYLON ", and they're super dense, very heavy, and have withstood around twenty years or so, against decomposing, etc.. I particularly love how they came out, in this soft ( to the touch ), yet thick, smooth and strong garment. It would be interesting to find an original surviving unit, of those original Authentic jerseys, from The Sixties, Seventies, etc.. I'd love to see the tags, breakdown in percentages of cotton and other materials used.

@@ZooCity2306 Spot on, an example is the Minnesota Timberwolves 1995 - 1996 Kevin Garnett Rookie Authentic ( Court Version , not Swingman ) post - 2008 Mitchell & Ness Re - Make , of the away jersey, which is much closer to the original product ( I can't remember if it was Champion, Puma, Starter, or something else. ), as indicated by Mighty Mouse. It has micro - mesh, with somewhat of a small shine to it, but not overly apparent, like in dazzlecloth ( from the Orlando Magic jerseys of the Early Two Thousands, for example ).
