Mitch got the record fair under current rules BUT there should not be many chances with unlimited rest, no other sport does this. It takes away the need to rise to the moment overcoming nerves/pressure. Thats what makes things like the Olympics so special, those spectacular moments,

Record is a record..
@SergiuNw3 ай бұрын
While I get your point, the fact that you miss your first attempt, it's almost a guaranteed losing battle. It rarely happens that you hit it the second time. It has to be a major error on the technique, that didn't allow you to use your entire strength and that just happened to Mitch. When he managed to get his technique right, he lifted it very convincingly. You have no chance of doing that on a deadlift though, you get way too fatigued. Most guys who tried it on deadlift, they barely moved the bar on the second attempt. So again, it's very rare that someone fails and then lifts it successfully. It's more of a moral second chance, cuz most people and even the ones that do the attempt know it's highly unlikely to be a successful lift. Mitch knew he did it in training (or a very close number to that, idk for sure), so his belief was really high and it showed that he could do it.

don't like how a spit is the same as a clean press? (eddie halls was clean) don't like how resting the handle on Thighs with bent legs is ok in wrecking ball, (mark felix was all grip) . I don't think Hoop is doing the same as these guys, Hoop is using tricks and cheating.
@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN3 ай бұрын
Why have you singled out Mitch? Pa and Pavlo also used the split jerk? A lot of them also rested the bar on the legs on wrecking ball too.. it’s only cheating if it’s against the rules, which it isn’t
@Ian-if2lf3 ай бұрын
@@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN Go watch the recking ball event 2022 none of them ''including Hoop'' had bent legs a much cleaner example of the event and a far cleaner record . singled out? that's obvious nobody else is claiming world records by doing something completely different from the previous world record holders .
@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN3 ай бұрын
@@Ian-if2lf Why not compare it to what the athletes did in this contest? Or at englands strongest man and britains strongest woman a few weeks ago where they did similar. Yes singled out. 3 athletes in this event used the split jerk but you only said hooper was cheating. (which he isn't because it's not against the rules) Eddie and Biby were allowed to jerk if they wanted to... Are you saying they should be allowed to jerk but not if it's for a world record? It doesnt matter what technique the last two record holders used. Eddie and Biby used a different technique to the record holder before that
@Ian-if2lf3 ай бұрын
@@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN I did not say he was not singled out, read my comment again, I said it was obvious why!, the others were not claiming world records through tricks/cheating if you are comparing lifts in order to compare strength It needs to be like for like, there are strict rules about deadlift for instance, a sumo stance is not aloud to break a normal stance record because they are different mechanics involved, if you are bending knees and resting a bar on your lap you are not testing the same grip strength as someone who used grip alone! and then calling it a world record?, if you really want to test to find out who is ''strongest'' then the same mechanics need to be used. its quite obvious stuff! its not a good look if you are calling it a grip strength record but it was your lap that took the load, it may work out good if Hoops trickery shows that the rules need to be tightened same applies to the axle press, its not really a press event if you are snatching it up and duking under it, don't call it a press event call it the axle up event, language means something!.

@@hannibalb8276, no he doesn’t. As of now Hooper has a 7-3 winning record on Thor. But the gap isn’t anywhere near as great as it looks. Thor was dealing with his pec injury so obviously he wasn’t going to beat Hooper in Apollon’s Wheel, Stones of Strength, Austrian Oak and the power medley. The other three events were grip events which histrionically are Thor’s weakest events. Even still, Thor always came second to Hooper.
