@@MitchLally I'm really a beginner in this world of photographs. What is kind of confusing to me is that your images are very sharp, as if they were taken using wide lenses. I was expecting a significant blurry result in all of them, but it wasn't the case. Does that happen because of the relative distance of the objects you were focusing, or is this a technique that my untrained eyes didn't catch? (Although I'm new with photographs, I'm a Mechanical Engineer, so don't be afraid to use technical explanation if needed cause I'm familiar with optics).

@@MitchLally and by the way, you're job is awesome!! I'm watching your videos and it's inspiring me to start shooting photos as well. Unfortunately , here in Brazil cameras are very expensive, so I will have to start with an entry level camera (Canon SL3) and try to buy decent lenses (like 50mm f1.4) to see if I have nice results.

I use a canon M200 + 22mm f2.0 lens, cause that's all I've got. And it is actually being great to learn the basics. I'm getting really used to the 35mm set up, which is cool for a starter like myself (since it's a crop sensor the 22mm lens is equivalent to a 35mm full frame). Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Mitch, I know this video is a couple of years old now, but I recently came across it while looking for some tips on street photography. I have an R5 and a couple of RF lenses (15-35 2.8 and 85 1.2). I’m more comfortable with still scenes but am trying to push myself. Can you tell me what you think is the best focussing method for street photography such as this? Most people seem to be recommending AF Servo, Face/Tracking, Eye Detection, People. But it looks as though you were using one point either AF Servo or One Shot. I want to be able to take photos of people in the street as well as general scenes. What do you think works best? Thanks and love your photography style. Melissa
@eliwhalen6046 ай бұрын
You can customize the buttons along the row of the AF button on the back of the R5 to each trigger a different autofocus type so that you can just press a different button for people autofocus vs landscape etc. just look up multi back button auto focus and there are videos on how to set it up.

Thanks for the video. I’m a beginner, who got an R6 and RF 24-70mm 2.8 for a big birthday this week. Would it be daft to get the RF50mm 1.2 at this stage considering I have that focal length covered? It might be more sensible to cover another focal length and get the RF50mm 1.8 instead. Any thoughts? I want to photograph bugs so have my eye on the RF100mm, but might be prudent to go for a RG70-200mm as a second lens.
