Good morning. My name is Shan. I live in Griffin Ga. I got up around 4:30 this morning. Around 5:30 it started to sleet, then it switched over to snow and sleet and has been going since. So I looked in your area and it's showing snow to begin around 9:30 and lasting through at least between 11:00 and 12pm before switching over to a mixture. You should get a pretty good burst of snow before that switch. Just thought I would bring that to your attention. You have done an Amazing job forecasting this storm and separating storm A from storm B. I am a weather nerd as you say, so I look forward to your updates. I am rooting for you Mitch to get some snow! Yeah. I this forecast change in Cumming, Ga is not what I want the last second. It's almost the worst case scenario inching northward. Snow totals are dropping fast while ice is increasing. It's getting warmer even though the surfaces are cold! I spoke too soon. Hope my snow will be at least 2.5" now to sled. Before it was 5" 3 days ago. Tennessee has got the best deal now. God bless!

Sharing in class this morning. Teachers and students are expecting e-learning tomorrow. I admit I'm thankful that unlike the old days we no longer have to make it up on a day we are scheduled to be out. We can get everything done online for a couple days, but having taught online and having an online teaching endorsement I would never want that for every day. It might be alright for some but not most students.

My parents and oldest sister are in the Dallas area. Northern burbs. They said it's all snow. I'm up in North Central Arkansas, a couple hours north of Little Rock. We started the day with full sun, but clouds have steadily moved in since then.

Mitch. Think you get 2 to 3 inches of snow. It’s 15 degrees here in East Tennessee. Everything has been frozen like rock for days. Really this is a prefect setup for snow in South Carolina. You will have a pretty good snow!! To me it’s just cold!!

So I’m watching your update on my tv and ran to my phone to say thank you for what you are doing but I also wanted to say I have lived in Arkansas for 42 years and we had an Ice Storm in 2009 and that’s the last big Major event we have had here. We get more wicked tornado weather. So we in Arkansas that are not getting any ice are super excited and the kids are super excited to looking at getting a super long weekend because yes we are not equipped to send our kids to school with anything more than an inch is snow! Also you say you pray for people I have an unspoken for 2 family members of mine. ❤God speed and God Bless your and yours.

Thanks for the update, Mitch. Yesterday and last night we saw about a total of 4 inches of snow where I live in Aroostook county Maine this was higher then what was expected was only expecting up to an inch or two but more moisture wrapped around from the Maritimes low than what was expected and we saw higher snowfall rates and several hours of continuous snow.

The Weather Service in Nashville said they lowered the totals in southern middle Tennessee just in case of ice mixing in but that they weren't confident that would happen. Said totals could actually be higher there than in northern middle Tennessee if ice doesn't mix in. The local stations are saying the same.

It didn’t seem like a good trend to me last night that they lowered the snow totals, then this morning it trended even lower. My area of metro Atlanta went from 3-5, to 1-3, to 1, maybe 2. I’m getting nervous that the same thing is going to happen to us that happened either last winter or the one before, where we were put under a winter storm warning and we got flakes for a little bit, but basically it wasn’t even close to what they thought it would be. Still hoping for us and for you. These southeast snowstorms can throw surprises. Even meteorologist James Spann said that. And there was one storm for us here in 2017 where they told us only a trace, then we got 8” in my neighborhood. I can tell you’re feeling a bit bummed too, but like you said, it’s been very cold all week here so far. Hopefully that helps this change in your favor. If it can’t happen with this setup, which is the best we’ve had in a long time, I don’t know what it’ll take for it to happen 😭

Guess what Mitch im one county off from the WWA to our south😂 palm trees begining to sprout here lol as glaciers form in the mid south!😅 Yup im jealous but you watch..a pattern shift with the ridge in the west and the trough in the east shift west. Get your skis out for the mid northern plains and northern mid west..imo..not ruling out a noreaster as the storms will move ne instead. I keep hearing you talk about a great snow that middle TN had last year. I dont remember a great snow last year lol the last one I remember was about 3 inches of powdery snow. I live closer to the plateau so maybe it was that snow that hit Nashville hard a couple years back? hmmm

Looks like NWS Nashville is looking at the NAM too much.. literally the only solution that has snowfall amounts like that. I continue to think 3-7” is possible anywhere in middle Tennessee

I saw a response on their Facebook page that said they lowered the totals to the south just in case because some models were showing mixing but that they were not sold that was going to happen at all. Said most models continued with all snow and for now they believed the majority.

Mitch is spot on about lows off the coast of VA. They can throw off a surprise of more than expected precipitation. I'm learning about weather systems from him.
