love that you are fixing up your old wooden windows instead of throwing in the plastic big box windows we see on every other YT channel.

Years back you had a hitachi chop saw with a sacrificial fence. I have the same saw. I added a depth stop and the fence. Transformed into a molding saw. Love it. Great tip. Thanks Jon

Such a useful idea and so simple even I understand it. I am a little concerned that I have spent so much time thinking about a miter station - while this doesn't replace that completely, for so much of the work I do (DIY) this will be great until my skillset expands (hopefully 😜) to the point of even knowing what will be important to me if I decide to invest in building a station. And I may never need one 😁. This idea is such a great boost to my upcoming projects - I am so stoked to put your shared knowledge into action! Thank you for sharing it! Oh, and I love your teaching style - I have watched a bunch of your videos and you are a truly gifted educator!

Great restoration project~! I've made a few of those jigs for my chop saw over the years. Hoping that my next saw will be a sliding compound miter with that depth stop feature. Thanks~!

One of those simple but oh-so helpful techniques I learned from you, probably first back in 2018 or so. These gems are part of why I enjoy woodworking. Thanks once again, Jon.

Amazing how such a small detail like quarter round can be so satisfying to put on. And how it helps anchor the window to the brick. I’m also a big fan of shop-made disposable jigs and fixtures. I used offcuts to make all of the drilling jigs for hinges and pulls when I built my kitchen cabinets.

I like it Jon. Thanks. Now, I'm going to check the comments to see if anyone suggested that you use PVC instead of wood trim. Sure enough.....the last comment in the list (which I guess must have been the first comment) said it.

Thanks Nick, PVC is a better choice but I had the wood.

Great work, Jon. What about the 1/4 round absorbing moisture if not primed on all sides? Thumbs up.
@JonPetersArtHome4 ай бұрын
Thanks Chuck! I primed the ends and added a little caulk at the seems. Should be good, 2’ soffit and 5 “ gutters help keep most of the weather off the trim.

Hola, una pregunta, se le podría poner silicon debajo de esa moldura para evitar acumulación de agua? O no tienen utilidad en ese caso. Gracias y saludos
@JonPetersArtHome4 ай бұрын
Sure 👍 and I did caulk under the molding… off camera

Since this is exterior why did you choose woods over PVC?
@JonPetersArtHome4 ай бұрын
I had the wood, but you’re correct. PVC would be a better choice… I think it should be OK since I have a large soffit.
@tonyb27604 ай бұрын
Do you caulk between the joints of the exterior molding to help with protection against water and or moisture infiltration? Just curious. Thanks for sharing

I’m a little surprised that you didn’t show how to adjust the blade, surly accurate cuts start from the blade being properly adjusted.
@JonPetersArtHome4 ай бұрын
Adjust the blade?
@mergrew01104 ай бұрын
@@JonPetersArtHome the saw blade. It must cut square and vertical to achieve the desired result. Minor adjustments are possible to ensure the saw is within the desired tolerance. Without these adjustments being made it’s impossible to make accurate cuts. Not all miter saws come properly set from new. The discrepancy’s are often quite significant, steps should be made to make the adjustments.
