One thing that I've found to help is to soak the blades in some cleaner before taking the wire to them. Great video, love your setup.

Do you ever attempt to repair a bent blade? With a hydraulic bench press?
@mithgo_outdoor2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Once a blade is bent out of tolerance it is thrown away. It is never a good idea to try and straighten a bent blade because you can create hairline stress fractures. This would render the blade unsafe, and I'm not taking those chances!

Hi, what grinding wheel are you using? I have the mag 9000 using the 9000-23 wheel.
@mithgo_outdoor3 жыл бұрын
That is the same wheel I use, the softer 9000-23

Me & a buddy of mine both have the mag 8000. I’m set up for straight blades he’s set up for multching blades. He tells me his grinding wheel is wearing out too fast. Do u have any suggestions or know why this might be going on?
@mithgo_outdoor2 жыл бұрын
The 1/2” soft wheels for the mulching blades will wear down quicker. It’s normal … happens to me also

What angle do you sharpen the blades to? Thanks
@mithgo_outdoor3 жыл бұрын
I stick to 30-35 degrees
@mowingtrimmingedging2143 жыл бұрын
Could split hairs on a slightly uneven blade, but your customer is paying you to sharpen and balance his/ her blades, they’re not your own. It’s great to see you took the 15 seconds to make it right. I really wish more were like that.

Great Video…I just purchased the 8000 Lot 7 setup. I have a small sharpening business and this setup is a game changer. I used your 5% Code to help you out. I was wondering which stone you use, soft or medium. I have 37 blades to finish up for a landscape company and all these blades need a completely new edge (the prior guy messed up the angle!). I’m trying to get them done as quick as possible. I’m thinking of ordering the soft stone to speed up the process..I was just curious as to your thoughts. Do you just use the medium stone, or one of the others? Thanks.

That's great man, thanks for the support with the code! I use the soft wheels...those are the ones you should get!!

Mitchell, How does the magnamatic compare to the rbg712? When i bought my rbg712 i considered the magnamatic. I am wondering what your pros and cons or thoughts are.
@mithgo_outdoor3 жыл бұрын
I've never used nor been near a RBG712 so I can't reply as to how it compares. I can tell you that the Mag8000 is a high quality machine that is designed to run all day long, every single day. It, unlike many several dedicated mower blade sharpeners, can easily sharpen curved mulching blades. Not sure if the RBG has that ability or not. I've not found any cons to it in 5 years of use. Some will say it's too expensive, but it's an investment into your company and built to last.

Thanks for the feedback. No the rbg712 cant do mulch blades
