As a rat PSA: the "mouse vs. rat" image shown onscreen at 16:25 is just showing two rats at different ages, which no one should be expected to know unless you have experience with both (like the person who made the image clearly didn't). Mice have an overall teardrop shape and teenier hands and snoot, whereas rats have a more pronounced neck and broader muzzle. My point is that the reaction that "the mouse looks fine" well... what he meant to say was "the adolescent rat looks fine."

20:20 rats are actually very hygienic animals! because they're only living conditions in the wild is trash, dirt, and sewers, they get the reputation of being dirty, but are much different in captivity and are incredibly clean and very clever. they're actually known to groom themselves more frequently than cats and make sure their enclosures are clean, as they don't actually like filth in their living spaces ^^!

17:36 I have a really good friend that has two pet sugar gliders. I definitely agree that they feel like a luxury pet, but from what I’ve seen and heard from her about them it’s very similar to taking care of something like a hedgehog or even rats and mice. I dunno. They’re weird creatures that are really social and so if you have 1 you’d probably have to get another. Like Guinea pigs.

As a rat owner, they're really cute! Very smart, trainable, social, cuddly, and are one of the best small pets I've had. Downside is their short lifespan.
@beansinahat2 жыл бұрын
A common misconception is that rats are dirty. They actually spend a lot of time cleaning themselves like cats and also enjoy co-groomer other rats. Only time they become dirty is as they age, they clean themselves less and often sleep more.

i’ve always wanted a pet rat. i think they’re so freaking cute and i love them so much!! my parents refuse to let me get one because my dad apparently had a roommate with a pet rat and it was awful, but i don’t believe him because he says that for every pet i ask to get lol. the only reason i don’t have one now is because my apartment doesn’t allow it and i also have a cat and don’t know if it’s safe to keep a pet cat and rat in the same household. i hope to get one when i move somewhere that would allow it

Fun fact about the bubonic plague: it wasn't just an isolated incident called the Black Death. That sort of plague came every 50 years or so throughout Europe, and was the cause for not only the development of passports (which were used to prove that you weren't infected while travelling) but also for the word "quarantine," which begun in Italy and was named after the 40 days of isolation the afflicted would be put into. Unfortunately, these quarantine hospitals were very rarely washed out, and there would be about 20 people per 5x5 meter room, so they ended up not only creating more plague victims, but usually being filled with corpses of people who had died of the plague. The population of Europe just barely managed to keep afloat of the ravages of plague during this time. If one bout of plague lasted just a year longer, then it's very possible that the European population would have been completely wiped out. Keep in mind that child mortality was extremely high at this time. The average family had about 7 children: 2 would die in childbirth, 2 would die in infancy, and 2 were likely to die before they became adults.

The story that Krista was talking about with the soldiers was liechtenstein, in 1866 they sent 80 soldiers to fight in the Austro-Prussian war and when they came back there were 81 soldiers. Not much is know on who the soldier was but there was one source saying that it was an Italian soldier.

At the time I had my multipocket folder, 2 pencil cases (one was for my calculator) lunchbox, my Canon camera for photography, and my band equipment (flute, music binder, lyer, and uniform) bc the band kids had to stay after school for the football game for pep.

Rat carrying the plague is a HUGE misconception about then, aside from being extremely clean animals it was mosquitoes that spread the plague. (Rats being dirty is the same as wild dogs and other wild animals, they just dont live in the right habitat) Also the Emu (eem-you) war was like 2-5 farmers versus several Emus and their were only 2 shotguns used due to Australian gun laws (im Australian lol)

My favourite thing about rats are that domesticated rats are called ‘fancy rats’ I really REALLY want pet rats (and have done for the last, like, six years). I think they’re so sweet looking and they’re incredibly social and intelligent. Unfortunately my parents don’t want to have to deal with them and I live with them. I’m also now officially an adult and am responsible for my own funds and such and figure that maybe I shouldn’t be spending money on everything they need and spend my time finding a breeder (because I’ve learned that pet stores can be quite unethical in my research) when I’m about to start uni. But I absolutely want a few in the future. I’ve had names picked out for the last two years so the time when I’m ready to adopt some cannot come fast enough! :) This video was amazingly fun, as they all are!

Domestic rats are amazing pets. They're social, cuddly and playful. Rats also groom themselves regularly, more than cats a lot of the time. They tie with gerbils as the friendliest rodent you could have for a pet and they are adorably goofy little guys. Sometimes they can be little jerks and goblins but every animal can be like that. It makes me sad that rats, even domestic ones, have such a bad reputation because they are really great pets. Edit: Also, if you plan on owning rats you need to get 2 of them or a small pack, because of how social they are, rats can get depressed on their own. Also make sure they are all the same gender, females are ideal if you want an exciable and playful pet, while males are more relaxed and cuddly, males do tend to fight more though. It can work, I promise, just do as much research as you possibly can before getting any like you would for any pet.

It wasn’t a full military, more like about 10 people if I remember correctly 3. We did have machine guns, but only 2 of them and limited ammo 4. The emus are durable and can still take a bullet as we found out, either that or they were able to avoid them Just some emu war facts for ya JP
