No idea if you're gonna see this comment on a video posted 3 months ago, but here I go anyway. I just discovered your channel 20 minutes ago. I found your Look At The Sky cover in my recommendeds and decide to hit play. And then I went to here, as this is one of my recent favorite songs. And then I listened to your version of Something Comforting. The _heart_ you put into these covers is genuinely wonderful. You don't just make music, you _craft_ it. I'm getting goosebumps over the amazing tone of the piano and the sweeping dynamic range you have and how much of the piano you use while still maintaining clarity and so much else. And the outro too! It's such a lovely touch you do, fitting the end of a music session so perfectly! And the way you move with the music while preforming is super valid, I do it too when playing my clarinet. You have soul. I didn't discover Porter Robinson until last september. I randomly stumbled into someone's twitch stream who was playing beat saber and stuck around. One of the songs he played was a Porter Robinson song. And later when Try came out he also played a beat saber map for that as well. Ever since I've fallen in love with a whole new genre of music I had never really listened to until now. And his community as well as other streamer's communities he's introduced me to has become another home for me. Life has been rough this later half of quarantine. I lost my eldest sister in late October (not through covid and somewhat expected due to her lifelong medical issues, but still), my mental health has been getting worse and worse since late December, and I had to drop out of this spring college semester because of it. There's so much darkness and so many things collapsing. But somehow, I'm still here. I'm Trying. I think I'll Be Alive Next Year. And a huge part of it is this music and the communities I'm a part of now giving me Something Comforting so I can keep going and keep going and keep going. And now, you're a part of that tapestry of perseverance and recovery. So thank you. And never stop making music, you have a gift for it. 💜💜💜

Hi Nicholas :) Finding Porter's music and community was one of the best things to happen to me during quarantine and 2020 as well. Through the ups and downs at least we have comforting music, and kind people who listen to the same comforting music ❤️ Thank you for the long, very thoughtful comment ;_; Dropping out from spring semester in college isn't a bad thing. I was talking to my cousin last night about her daughter playing piano now for 6 years and I told her I love it. She has adhd and she thinks it helps her with that too. These were my comments to her, Yeah it helps because its focusing on one thing. its good for stress too. If you know piano you probably read sheet music, understand different keys and can recognize notes by ear. It makes it easy to learn other instruments. Many piano players can pick up other instruments more easily. It also helps with learning any tonal language like chinese, japanese. Best of all piano players will always be able to make a living playing or teaching if theyre out of work when they retire someday. Its a great safety net :) Thought ud like that. I play guitar and I wish I can learn piano and teach my son someday.
