Nice discussion. What even is "zone two" as defined by Inigo himself? I can´t find a single definition of it. Just explains how messy it is.

Have you seen Inigo's conversations with Peter Attia?

it is a little messy but the basic idea is that, in a 5 zone model it runs from say .9 LT1 to LT1 where LT1 is the first ventilatory threshold. How can you multiply that by 0.9? Typically it is the heart rate at LT1 so you use .9 x HR_LT1 to HR_LT1 for zone 2. Others use a 3 zone model which is below LT1, between LT1 and LT2 and above LT2.

From my understanding Inigo defines Z2 as an intensity where a lactate concentration is maintained below 2mmol/L, but I could be wrong. Might be good to check out Jason's discussion with Inigo.

You are correct….Lactate below 2.0
@Eldooodarino9 ай бұрын
@@quengmingmeow that's one definition but it's not the only one. Other people use a 1mM increase above baseline lactate. My baseline lactate fluctuates between 0.6 and maybe 1.2 so depending on the day the top of my zone 2 could be as low 1.6mM and as high as 2.2 mM. Since most people don't own lactate meters there are tons of tests for discerning the top of zone 2.
