dutch banks are 50% if their eco map control isn't needed for dutch as it is for other civs

@@prueba9a956 mid game dutch economy is extremely strong, dutch is probably the best mid game civ in the game. Their early game is rough though. If dutch manage to get 5 banks it's pretty hard to out eco them

Dutch hasn't used any new cards, I wish we could see more use of new cards from master players so we can learn a little something. I wonder if he doesn't know about the new update.

True but consider that using particular cards make the game a bit "too specific" and too unique sometimes.

It’s funny Dutch was my least favorite civ and I had never played them. Now it is my best civ at level 40. I’ve got decent with them and the new update made me fall in love. Too bad their military isn’t quite up to par with some of the other civs when it comes to cards!

Dutch civ bonus is fast gold gathering and yet high level players never use this to their advantage for whatever reason. It's actually cheaper to trade for wood in market then chop wood. No upgrades are researched either for gold gathering early on. Why not use main civ bonus to advantage?

Trading for wood is absolutely fine but I prefer only to do it when I need something immediately. This is because gold is the most scarce resource on the map. On most maps for example you only have 2000-4000 gold in your base, and another 2000-4000 somewhat close by; but wood is practically infinite, especially for a civ like Dutch that doesn't burn any wood on their military units. So by not buying wood I am losing out on a few villager seconds in the short term, but in the long run I can keep my villagers safer overall and remain on natural resources longer. They also spend less time walking to new gold mines :) tl;dr you should definitely buy wood if you need to but if you can avoid it then that's better!

@@mitoe0 But why never research gold upgrades and generally mining gold to use advantage of civ? Seems high level players always rely on banks for gold income early part of the game

@@artisticcheese I think most top players neglect market upgrades with Dutch too much, I'd agree with that; and to be honest I am guilty of getting Placer Mines later than I should with Dutch a lot of the time, but there's a couple reasons not to get it very early in age 2: 1. Apologies for the math in this first point: Dutch already gathers gold at 0.69/s (up from 0.6/s) which is 15% faster, but gather rate improvements only apply to the base gather rate. So even though Placer Mines advterises an extra 10%, it will only increase your gather rate from 0.69 to 0.75, which is closer to an 8% improvement. So you get less out of this upgrade than other civs. 2. You usually have less villagers on gold early on because you are trying to squeeze out as many banks as possible (which don't require gold), and anything you have leftover is better invested into food upgrades. The main reason you start gathering gold is to defend, and usually in that situation you just want to prioritize as many units as possible, hold, and then get the upgrade after. 3. Amalgamation on the other hand is almost never worth it for most civs; it's simply too expensive and takes too long to pay off. It's good in some rare situations where the map has a lot of gold and you know you have time for it to pay for itself, but for Dutch it's even less useful for the first point I mentioned earlier. I hope that make sense! The general gist is that you have a lot of other ways to invest into your economy, and the gold mining upgrades are usually less valuable than the alternatives, so you can't afford to get it until later. Placer Mines is usually the final economic investment until the lategame.
