Welcome to our comprehensive video on Mitral Stenosis (MS), designed specifically for medical students and doctors. In this educational video, we focused on the pathophysiology, murmur characteristics, clinical features, investigation methods, and treatment options for Mitral Stenosis.
Mitral Stenosis is a cardiac condition characterized by the narrowing of the mitral valve opening, leading to impaired blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle. Understanding the pathophysiology is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management.
Furthermore, we will demonstrate how to identify the characteristic heart murmur of Mitral Stenosis, which plays a vital role in diagnosing the condition. By explaining the auscultatory findings in detail, you will gain a thorough understanding of the distinctive murmur associated with Mitral Stenosis.

I am so scared, I was just diagnosed with mitral valve stenosis, with an ejection fraction estimated between 25-30%, with only trace regurgitation. I don’t see the cardiologist for another week. I am a 42 year old female, I’m afraid there is no treatment for me. I have no idea why this happened, was never diagnosed with rheumatic fever.
