Maybe if we do newer studies about mitral valve homograft we can avoid his calcification. It's very important, thank's for doing your best.

I have one of these I just got it about 3 weeks ago. I heard that if this valve needs to be replaced it can be done through an artery and no open heart surgery is needed. This is good because I have had my 3rd surgery and I don't want anymore.

@@melekkuru1762 I am 41 and I had 2 mitral valve repair surgeries but they didn't work correctly. And before my last surgery I was given the option to take this valve because supposedly it is a better option for a younger person of my age to have. If you do some research on heart valves the tissue valve and the mechanical valves are not good for younger patients who are younger than 50 because they shorten the lifespan of the patient. But according to my research and doctors at The Cleveland Clinic it is always best for younger patients to have a repair instead of a replacement. However in my situation my mitral valve was too damaged and I had to have a replacement. And this valve is very quiet in comparison to the mechanical valve and according to my doctors it can last up to 20 years before it has to be replaced.

@@melekkuru1762 This valve doesn't require blood thinners but your doctor might still have you on aspirin. Be careful if your doctor wants to put you on Eliquis you shouldn't use it for more than 6 months because Eliquis should not be used with a prosthetic heart valve.

This is really cool! I didn't know valves in the heart could be replaced.

@@aspet_ oh nooooo lol I wish I could not take anything for the rest of my life but after a mitral valve replacement, sorry, but you’ll have to be on heart medicine for the rest of your life lol But I don’t remember all of the medication I was taking like directly after the surgery but, I can tell you the ones that I take now !! And it’s pretty simple. I take 1. Coumadin or warfarin (that’s too thin your blood, so your blood can pass through the valve) I take that once a day, in the evening. 2. I take metoprolol. Basically just to regulate my heart rate. I take this one twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the evening.

@@shaquille_0atmeal69_ I take 50mg metropolis XL so its longer lasting throughout the day. It works well for me, as I have always struggled with high blood pressure in my adult life. I have never taken Coumadin or warfarin, but I do take 5mg of prednisone, which acts as a blood thinner.
