I'm 77. Shortly after a very intense exercise session mostly with 15 pound dumbbelds, I suddently noticed that the tall light stand next to my TV looked wavy when viewed with my left eye. I downloaded the Amsler Grid Test from the internet--the lines and boxes looked wavy and distorted. I saw my optometrist the next day. Her photographs of my macula showed that it was bloody and swollen. She diagnosed wet macular degeneration. I wasn't able to see a retina specialist until 3 weeks later. (I live in a small town--the specialist is 40 miles away and appaarently pretty busy.) I had my first shot June 4, 2024--no big deal--a little soreness in my eye for a couple of days. I think my vision has improved some, but it's very gradual. My hobby is photography. I can rely on the camera's autofocus when taking photos, but processing them on my computer is a challenge. I have to repeatedly hold my hand over my left eye so that my right eye can accurately judge whether an image needs adjustment--not only does my left eye distort everything, but the central vision sees images as darker than they really are. Things can also appear somewhat larger than they really are, which can create problems with depth perception--I think that's improving some, but it's a hazard when driving. In recent months my night vision seemed a bit worse, but I never tried to determine if one eye was worse than the other. So, it's possible that I had subtle symptoms of wet AMD before the sudden onset after exercising. My annual dilated eye exam in March 2024 didn't show any signs of it. I'll be seeing the retina specialist again July 3 for another shot. He''ll also do an additional diagnostice procedure--I believe it's a fluorescein angiograph. Meanwhile, this evening I painted the left lense of a cheap pair clear glasses with black paint in the hope that, by blocking my vision in my left eye, I can more easily use my good right eye when working at the computer. (Wearing an eye patch is uncomfortable.) I'll know tomorrow after the paint dries. If nothing else, by wearing those glasses with one dark lens, I'll resemble a Bond villain in "Casino Royale."

I take 2-3 hot bath a day and use salt in it for 20mins. I make sure to shower every time after the toilet. When it become painful a use Vaseline or hemorrhoids ointment and I massage that part with the index. I try to relax and do not move too much. It helps a lot.
