Excellent ideal this is what I need to make to ensure small pieces dont get lodge inside the platform of the saw. I was trying to make 10mm cubes and the cut offs would fly off in. The shop or get jammed on the back and damageng the final pieces. What size width is the saw blade? I was using a 1/8 kerf wondering if there is anything smaller for such work Thanks and keep up the good work.

Very nice. I'm currently building my first miter saw station/jig, but I'd planned a second parallel T-track 4" away from the T-track next to the fence. Is there an advantage to having two secondary T-tracks at 45° instead of just two parallel T-tracks? Or is it just personal preference?
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I would say personal preference and what jigs you are planning to use.

Hi- thanks for the interesting video. I made it on same lines as yours, but I find that the saw blade does not go back enough to finish cutting the wood. I made the fence 6cm high, but that is not stopping it from going back. The only way I can cleanly cut the wood is to put another piece of wood between fence and he wood that I am cutting. Perhaps the depth stop is set wrong. You said that one does not have to cut right through the base. Thanks. Greg
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Yes the depth stop needs adjusting by the sounds of it👍
@gregdoull1190
@gregdoull1190 4 жыл бұрын
@@CasualDIY Thanks for reply. Trouble is, if I adjust the stop to allow the saw to finish cut, the jig will be cut in half at the fence, with only a little at the front end holding it all together. Will look again tomorrow. :-)

@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I use many different t-tracks. It all depends what I can buy on offer. Unfortunately I can't get to my tools at the moment to measure this exact t-track for you. I mainly pick them up on Banggood or Aliexpress
@hansdegroot8549
@hansdegroot8549 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information. What is the delivery-time for Banggood products nowadays? I bought a few things at them some years ago. And it took ages, that time. I think I'll give it a try to make them myself. I have a router (and a bit for T-slots, which I've never used till now) and a lot of reclaimed beech wood flooring parts. (approx. 5x35 cm including tongue and groove). If only I had more time.

Tomasz, how did you actually attach the fence in the end? Is it threaded inserts you’ve used? I can just make out the metal chunks and that’s all I can think of
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
The jig is attached with bolts. So in the mitre saw you got some holes in the fence. In my jig I counter sink the heads of the bolts so they are flush to my jigs fence and just put a nut on the other side of the mire saw fence👍

Nice work, again! 2 questions, what are the L shaped pieces you used to 90-degree clamp the fence? Also, not related to this video but what pocket hole jig do you use? Saw a Katsu one on eBay that looks fairly ‘ok’ for £20, probably do what I need.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 4 жыл бұрын
I picked those 90 degrees from Banggood, the cheapest I could find to be fair and actually at 90 degrees 😁 The pocket I got is from Katsu. £20 is a good price, I got mine for about £30 as far I can remember. It's ok. The aluminium channels for the drill bit were a bit "tight" but after a spray of WD40 work perfectly. The jig is quite adjustable as well.

Cool jig 👍 How do you get on with the Evolution mitre saw? Is it accurate enough? I have the version before yours and find it's not that great... maybe for rough work on site but not woodworking
@CasualDIY

Hi, after initial set up and now when it sits in my bench I got no issues with it. The cuts are straight and true. The only thing is the laser, I don't use it as I didn't had the patience to set it up.

Will this work for bevel or angle cuts on small pieces? Or will there need to be modifications to accommodate the angle of the cut. Say to 45 degrees.

Hi. No, you would have to make modifications to the jig.
@joehart3826

@@CasualDIY And this is the KILLER reason why this jig isn't ideal, you have basically reduced a mitre saw to a 90degree saw only now... You need to be honest in your videos and comment on the disadvantages too.

Great idea well executed. But - look at your use of the table saw. No push sticks and leaning over a running blade with no crown guard to stop your cut piece falling on the floor. That bit - not so clever.
